Remember the Wii U exclusive Lost Reavers? Perhaps you would rather not. Either way, the game’s publisher and developer Bandai Namco will finally be putting it out of its misery on 30th May, by terminating its online services.
If you didn’t download this free-to-play co-op experience when it was originally released on the Wii U eShop in 2016, you probably made the right choice. As promising as the concept was, it was poorly executed and was rather disappointing compared to more notable multiplayer games such as Splatoon. In our review, we said it was a "lifeless" and "bitterly frustrating" experience.
The action-adventure game started life as Project Treasure and was created by the famed Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada along with a team of young developers.
Below are the full details about the closure of the game’s online service, courtesy of the Bandai Namco Twitter account:
Can you believe the online service for this game lasted this long? Did you download and play Lost Reavers when it was first released? Tell us below.

I'm surprised the service is still running on the Wii U...
Lost Reavers is probably one of the worst games I've ever played, ridiculously bad game! It'll be missed like a dead wasp on a bus.
Oh yeah, I think I had this game downloaded from the beginning and never played it...
Why would the servers even be running. If that’s the game you’ve been rocking this whole time I feel sorry for you.
To the exactly 3.5 people who have persisted with this game to this point, hats off to you, and I sincerely hope you find a more worthwhile game to waste your life with.
Totally forgot about this game
Honestly the game was pretty weak but it had a cool concept. Imagine a co-op hero shooter and each character having their own weapons, skillsets and abilities. This free game (with very little microtransactions from what I remember) had you fighting against zombies, mummies, mutants, and even imperial soldiers on a warehouse, pyramid, and a castle map respectively. There was a lot going for this game but ultimately Namco didn't seem to care about it much and just let it fall to the wayside. Hopefully an LR2 comes out with more characters and content. The fact that it was a Wii U exclusive didn't help, but imagine a game like this on Switch.
lol one of my wii u friends is playing it right now
This game was great, sad to see it go. No online service lasts forever, unfortunately
Next the announce, Lost Reavers EX Plus Complete coming to Switch.
It really wasn't a bad game but it wasn't that good either, it was quite entertaining to play for a little while, but that's just about it unfortunately... This game wasn't immersing at all and it was very repetitive and bland. However as surprisingly as it sounds, it did get a small community of fans who really got into it, though it is unsurprisingly small.
I do have some fond memories of me playing this game with some friends so out of nostalgia i am a bit sad to see it go, but i have been expecting it to happen for a long time, i will probably miss it a bit just out of nostalgia for the small fun time i had with it, but overall it is really an insignificant loss, the game isn't really worth much in the long run, is been lost in obscurity ever since around the time Miiverse plug got pulled.
I never even bothered downloading it on the first place so no loss. Saw my friend play a bit of it and it looked really bad.
Man, people talk about frame rate problems. This game was the poster child for such. I, personally, gave it a 4.5 out of 10. Great concept, absolutely abysmal execution.
@ReaderRagfihs
I'd imagine it's already done, people are pretty on top of these things
Well, it had to happen some time.
Well, at least you got an article with an ad out of it, NL! Cheers!
So as one of the five people who own a Wii U... I never even heard of this game.
Awful game. Bye-bye.
I enjoyed playing it for a bit back in the day but got bored with it fast. Did they ever release new maps for the game or were they always the same two they had at launch?
Pretty impressed they’re still running to be honest! Fair play to them, unless they just forgot all about it themselves and someone has caught on 😂
Or you know, we could play an infinitely better version of this game called "Zombies Ate My Neighbors". Close enough, eh?
Who cares it was free but terrible.
Guess I better jump on before it ends.
I seriously forgot that this game existed 😱
Got this downloaded day 1. It was ok and was free.
@JR150 theres a game similar to is comeing *but looks better * calld Breach its a F2P game thats ment to be coming to everything if i recall.

Downloaded it. Tried it for half an hour. Went back to Splatoon and Battlefront as my multiplayer titles of choice for that period in my gaming life. Generally steer clear of free-to-play multiplayer titles.
The only downside was that trolls had too much freedom in this game, and one troll could damage the experience for all the other co-op players.
It wasn't too bad imho. They should port it to switch expanding and improving it maybe.
The graphical style of the cover looks cool. Hope they can turn that into a Tomb Raider style linear adventure game on Switch.
What the hell is Lost Reavers?
I remember this game being announced, but I never realized it actually came out.
Downloaded it, tried it for a couple of hours, spread over various days, but I've never played it since. Also had some bugs, no idea if they've ironed them out eventually, but it doesn't matter.
The game had some cool concepts, but for some reason they never combined into a pleasant package, so ultimately, it was kind of a boring online multiplayer hack 'n' slash.
Perhaps if they can address the problems, and make it more of a whole, then a sequel might do quite a bit better than this disjointed effort.
@JR150 Sounds like "Breach".
Lasted longer than Devil's Turd
Instead of Tekken 6 at the time, he decided to give Wii U owner this trash. Such a misopportunity, now he refuse to give Switch owner Tekken 7 probably repeating the same mistake.
It was quite bad, only played it for a couple of days. They're probably thinking how to revive this thing for Switch, with the F2P offers being much more diverse than before.
Man... Reminds me just how dry the Wii U era really was at times.
Played the game, it was fun! Too bad it is going offline.
People saying it was terrible eh? Meh, it was a GREAT free to play game.
I really wanted to enjoy this game. I thought the characters looked cool, unfortunately the game sucked.
@KingdomHeartsFan That might be the worst insult I’ve ever received.
Never knew this game was so disliked until today. I remember downloading this a few years back, and enjoyed it. So I'm one of the few sad to see it go. Sorry if I'm going against popular opinion here.
Idk what people are talking about, this game was amazing. Cool level designs and dungeon puzzles, decent combat that relied heavily on teamwork in harder levels, and just the treasure hunting concept of 1 player having to carry the treasure while everyone else has to defend them while also dealing with enemies and puzzles. I hope they bring over a sequel to the Switch.
I play my Wii U a lot still, but couldn't get into this game. Shame for those that did though, makes me think I better get as much online play out of COD and other games before they close too.....
I didn't mind the little I played of it. Not something I'd stick with though that's for sure.
I played it a bit and enjoyed it. I had thought they already shut down the matchmaking, so I hadn't played it in a long while. Maybe I misheard.
I played it but the matchmaking was terrible. One bad player could just run around and prevent the game from starting.
Last time I started it however the place was empty.
@SKTTR That was all it took for me to put the game down, too. No way to communicate or boot them... it was a bad flaw.
I remembered wanting to play this game when it was first announced, but lost interest/forget after waiting a year to come out. I been meaning to download and play but other games keep getting in the way.
So long story short, never played it but from what I hear(read) I didn't miss out on anything.
Wait, this was a thing?
@RevampedSpider I trust your opinion Patchy The Pirate.
I remember playing it. It had potential but the final product was a mess.
Am I the only one who didn't play past the first week release of this game? I didn't think it had much potential.
I liked it.... Especially when I played it with people at much higher levels, got really intense. I see the many problems when it was first released but played it since it was free.... And nothing else was on the Wii U aside the major 1st party games.
Things that can do for the switch version:
Increase spread, it was a slower game. More enemy varients, more maps, characters. I think new guns and specials would be cool.
You could shoot the mummies in the butt while they tried to stand up and it was pretty funny.
Why are people belittling those who enjoyed it? At least someone did and who gets annoyed at people having fun on something they personally don't like? Fascism is in these days?
I'm still playing it as are many people, they're always games live to join. It's really fun.
@OorWullie many games deserve to be missed....
