For those excited about Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, particularly fans in Europe, it's been a rather fun day. Nintendo of Europe already confirmed that the handsome Xenoblade Chronicles cover plates are coming to the region, but has now also lifted the lid on a 3DS HOME Theme that'll arrive with the title.
As you can see in the concept art below it shows a rather cheerful Shulk sitting in front of the Bionis landscape.
Similar to other recent promotions this will be free to those in Europe that buy the game on the eShop in its first week on sale, but we suspect will then pop up on the Theme Shop for the standard $1.99 / €1.99 / £1.79. We've listed a North American price there - while this hasn't yet been announced for NA, we expect it'll arrive in the region when the title lands on 10th April; it arrives one week earlier on 2nd April in Europe.
In addition, UK New Nintendo 3DS owners have some options on the Official Nintendo UK Store that include the theme as a freebie with physical copies of the game, while there are bundles including the cover plates and also options with the white and black New Nintendo 3DS.
Will you be grabbing this theme along with the game in early April? Let us know.

This better pop up on the NA Theme Shop.
One question about the theme image though... How did they get 9999 play coins with a limit of 300? Are they removing the limit soon?
I just cancelled my pre-order from Game and ordered the bundle with the faceplates from Nintendo. I can't wait to play this on my New 3DS rather than my Wii U.
@llamareborn Aw, you beat me to asking that question first!
I'm really feeling that Home Theme...;D
@llamareborn And why is it the 12th of December???
@llamareborn And why the bottom button says "Sample"?
This is the first 3DS theme I actually might buy
I hope NA gets this, my wife would love it.
@ThomasBW84 Do you have any idea as to why the Xenoblade theme shows 9999 coins?
Is this the Monado's power?
Well I preordered the game bundle. A tad expensive at £53 but I was planning on getting the game eventually and I really wanted the Faceplates.
The lack of selling the faceplates alone means either Nintendo really wants to push this game or it prevents large numbers being bought by scalpers (or a bit of both).
Why not for those who purchase the game seperately in an actual store? Why do you HAVE to have a digital version of a game to be eligible for a free home theme? Ugh. Never was a fan of digital stuff but geez, way to push it down everyone's throat even more.
@Knuckles It's just a concept image, that's all
Would it have been so hard to include a download code on everyone's quick-start manual? This arbitraray limitation to the eShop version and UK bundle is complete nonsense.
Oh well, I'm willing to pay for it, so it's not like I won't get it, but still...
I'm still waiting on the Monster Hunter theme T_T.
Was hoping for a Collector's Edition with stuff like CDs, a Steelbook, etc. but I suppose the face plates and free theme will just have to do...
@ThomasBW84 Cruel concept. I'd like having over 9000 coins.
Out of interest did they restock the shulk amiibo before putting it as a listing?
Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa.... I must have missed something. 9999 Play Coins? Is that a New 3DS thing?
Goddammit Nintendo. It's starting to look like I'll want anything with Shulk on it these days...
the game price is crazy, considering Xenoblade Chronicles 3d goes for less than £20 in Japan... >__<
Shulk amiibo unlocks some stuff too! If anyone could only find a Shulk... The fact that there are no bundles with him is not reassuring. Just gives extra tokens for character models and music tracks that can be bought. it says. So is that a discount if you have Shulk amiibo? Is the extra content otherwise available? How much, because £53 is expensive even if it does come with faceplates and a theme? I'd be much happier if the amiibo was included at that price.
No wonder Shulk is smiling: 9999 play coins and full battery and Internet.
This theme looks very nice, I wonder what song will they use to accompany the theme.
I'll be downloading it. Hoping they make more than one Xenoblade theme too.
Depends what the music is!
I'm really feeling it!
@Sakura I ordered a Shulk Amiibo like 2 days ago from Nippon-Yasan.com - looks like they have loads of Shulk Amiibo stock on that website. The packaging is Japanese, but since it's not region locked it doesn't bother me as I'll be opening it, using it and throwing the box away lol.
Here is the link: http://www.nippon-yasan.com/nintendo-wii-u-conosle-japan/10167-amiibo-shulk.html
With 7-10 day tracked and insured air mail, it will costs approximately £30...
£20 for the amiibo and £10 for the delivery, not too bad considering it's imported from Japan and that it's so Goddam rare...
@Bushido_Fai Thanks! Japanese import looks like it's the only way to go. I don't think there's any difference in amiibo from different regions except the packaging. I assume there's some code stored in the base in some kind of binary or other computer type language and that it simply communicates something to the game in that binary computer language (or whatever it is) to activate locked content. Doesn't matter then what region the game is from and all the amiibo can be the same.
That's how it works in my head, anyway...
@Sakura So you gonna order one?
Sort of on topic: Too many fans complaining about the N3ds downgrade, after that comparison video, there's barely a difference.
@drewb0203 I know! It looks fine too me
@drewb0203 What downgrade?
@Dezzy Probably Gaur Plains.
I really hope this pops up on the theme store!
Has anyone wgo got the bundle from the Nintendo Online Store received their theme code yet?
No sign of my code yet, as of the 6th it was awaiting stock pick, last two days it has been processing. I have spoken to them several times and have been told several different stories, 'there has been a problem' - 'it will be with you in 24 hours' - 'item was miss picked' - 'item is out of stock' I am looking forward to see what tomorrows story is ! not impressed really !
@twadezelda3dsxl Have you managed to get yours yet? I am not having any luck with mine either...
@Alundra-1998 After 5 calls to Nintendo and three weeks of waiting, I finally got the code for the theme.
