The Wii U's price point is becoming more and more tempting for those who've yet to pick one up, and UK retailer GAME have dropped the price of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U — as well as a bundle that includes the game and a basic 8GB console — to try and convert some fence-sitters.
If you've yet to pick up the Wii U fighting extravaganza, you can see our review to see what we had to say about it. If that's not enough, you can pick up a copy of the game for only £29.99 today in GAME online [Update: this deal doesn't seem to be available in store]. Amazon have price-matched GAME as well, so if you're more of an Amazon junkie you can buy the game from them for the very same price.
If you're currently without a Wii U, you could instead pick up GAME's bundle that comes with the game for £159.99, but Amazon haven't matched this price, so don't go running over to them expecting to pay such a temptingly low price. See both options by clicking here.

From what I've seen this might be their best deal ever as they seem to be on the high side of prices.
Not a fan of Game but that's a great price.
Bit frustrating about the offer on the game though as I paid £36 for it on release and the disc hasn't even gone in my Wii U yet!
Just curious. How much does that convert to USD?
@shigulicious
At current exchange rates that's ~$250 bundle or ~$47 game.
@shigulicious
250$ according to Google.
@shigulicious $250. Although without the sales tax (VAT) it's about $200.
£30 for Smash? Glad I didn't get round to getting it yet.
@FuseBlues I'd just like to say that you have an excellent avatar.
I was all excited that this maybe what I use to convince a friend who's on the fence about getting a Wii U. But if it's today only and us the 8GB version, it's not going to entice them.
@Peach64 Are you saying you got the game from Game? If it's like here in the States you can take your receipt back and get the difference back. Not sure if you got it there though. Last year I got my Skylanders bundle at Gamestop for 300$, twice they reduced the price by 25$ and both times I got the difference because it was less then 30 days. So I ended up paying 250$ for the system, Nintendo Land, and the Skylanders starter pack.
@FubumblR @FuseBlues @BensonUii thank you all
That is a pretty damn good price, especially for a game that will last hundreds of hours.
Eh, got it 2 days ago for £39... btw, Amazon has matched price now if you prefer their service
Absolute bargain, get a 64gb USB stick for £22 and your golden. Hopefully these sell like hot cakes
Nice bundle price. Throw in the Gamecube Adaptor and they could double the asking price
For people that are buying the Wik U only for SSBU and maybe MK8 and Zelda U 8GB might actually be enough.
Can Zelda U please get a name, its due out in 12 months - Nintendo all but promised at the Game Awards - its time to have a cool sounding name. Preferably w/o U in the title, though "Zelda Unbound" kind of explains the open worldconcept they are shooting for.
Naturally, I rushed to my local Game to pick up Smash Bros for £29.99. Unfortunately, the staff said that the sale--which they had no idea about--wasn't on sale in store, arguing that the sale must just be online.
@MarkManson typical GAME....bunch of wasters!!
@ULTRA-64 Next, I said that I would trade in some games for credit and then, when I got home, order Smash Bros. online from the Game store. I thought that I could at least salvage something from my wasted journey . . . However, for whatever reason, Kid Icarus: Uprising wouldn't scan properly, leading the sales rep to huff and puff with no attempt to provide a solution. Therefore, I told him to sod off and took my games home.
In short, no Smash Bros. for me today.
This is the bundle I got delivered to me last week for £189 from Amazon.It was supposed to be the Wii Party U console instead of the Basic but they refunded me £30 so got a good deal in the end.
@MarkManson sorry to hear that pal. I ordered online, was gonna pick it up in the New Year anyway but I'd £5.02 on my GAME loyalty card so I went for it, delighted
@Alex_Olney Hi Alex, having read this, I just popped down to GAME on my lunch break. I can confirm that, at least according to the guy in my local GAME store, this deal is not and never has been available 'in store.' Was pretty disappointing. Where did you hear this deal was offered in stores?
On the web site for the Smash U offer, it says in fine print: "Please note: prices in GAME Stores may differ."
Why? Why is it always sodding GAME? Why can't literally any other store make this kind of offer? Why did they have to be rescued from administration instead of letting them rot like they deserved to? Why do game companies always partner with these muppets instead of anybody else?
I wasn't going to buy this game.
I've just bought this game.
@AlexOlney I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a concrete elephant.
@LunaticPandora
Amazon have price matched them
That feeling you get when you've got the thing already but it's an awesome deal, and you're pumped because you want to get it, but you've got it already and getting it again would be stupid. This.
Absolute bargain. Bought my son a Wii U last Xmas and now 15 games later its the best fun I've had since the N64 days
