Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 Will Buzz Wii Owners
Posted by James Newton
The next best thing to Top Gun
If you dream of flying virtual modern-day fighter jets, the Wii probably isn't the console for you, but its line-up just got a little bit brighter with the announcement that a follow-up to last year's mega-selling Tom Clancy's HAWX will arrive on Wii later this year.
Although little is known about the game, it's currently in development at Ubisoft Bucharest and will launch, according to the Ubisoft preorder store, in September this year.
Until we know more, feast your eyes on this rendered artwork and make rat-a-tat-a-tat sounds with your Wii Remote, maybe.

Did the original ever come to Wii? I can't find any info on this and it's frustrating me!
I can't find info online and I remember seeing it on Gamestops pre-order list a year ago.

Nope, the original was not on the Wii.
Hmmm, with Sky Crawlers and the incoming Pearl Harbor game witht his game, woo flight combat fans like me are gonna have a field day with these. and then theres the possibility of a new Wii Rogue Squadron or even a compilation of the old games, which is just as good. heck maybe we might finally have news of a new Star Fox

I thought HAWX would be coming for the Wii this year, not the sequel.
Oh well, StarFox-replacement stays StarFox-replacement.

I didn't liked the fist one, but then, as far as airplanes games go, I rather go with simulation.

The first HAWX was great fun, let's hope this one won't get a port as bad as HAWX1 on the iPhone (it lost several key features that made the console version stand out among flight action games).

it will be a crappy port.

it will be a great game. The first was also announced for the Wii.. so I don't know how/when they'll release both.

Best news of all day! I still don't understand why they canned the original H.A.W.X. for the Wii (I have it for PC and I'm sure it would run on the Wii in the lower settings, plus Blazing Angels 2 is from the same devs and runs on a similar engine) I hope they pull this one right because apart from "Heat Seeker", there are no other games like this on the entire Wii library. Day #1 purchase!

Anyway, it will likely be a different game by a different team doing the Wii version. Hopefully the Wii version can still hold it's own.

That tagline disturbs me..... The Top Gun NES games weren't that good. Oh wait, there were more modern ones, huh? Well, here's hoping this will be good.

The tagline also disturbs me, as I've played (or attempted to play) Top Gun for GameCube, and it's terrible.

Is this more of a sim or an arcade?

If it doesn't use the tilt sensors to good advantage, then it'll simply be another downgraded port.
However if it does, then it will stand on its own two feet and could be amazing.

For the time being I'll be cautiously optimistic. I need my Star Fox.
