Another great 4 player game.

A more detailed stage creator, with online sharing ala the 'Trials' series.I would literally die with happiness.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Pokémon Stadium:
This is how me and my friends used to do Pokémon battle. With glorious low res polygons on a 15" crt TV. And the minigames were great too.
JimLad commented on Nintendo UK Executive Says Wii U Has Had "Quit...:
I'm not sure Splatoon and Captain Toad will attract many new customers, although they will be great additions for existing customers. After this year Nintendo has effectively blown it's load with MK and Smash. They don't have anymore console-selling IPs, bar Zelda which I can imagine being pushed to next christmas or 2016.
JimLad commented on Nintendo Celebrates Super Smash Bros. and Wii ...:
@readyletsgo Vita just got Minecraft. That could make all the difference if they bundle it with the system. Something 3DS will never have.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Perfect Dark:
It is better than Goldeneye in every way except the story. It even has the Goldeneye guns and the best 3 multiplayer stages included in it!
It's also more fun than 90% of shooters made today because there was more to do than just killing everything in the area and finding cover.
I bought a 360 to play this game in HD at 60fps, best £160 I ever spent.

@BensonUii "Just block the internet browser on the parental control."Yes.
Children shouldn't have access to the internet, period.
JimLad commented on Captain Toad's Joined by Toadette in Treasure ...:
Looks great, Nintendo need more games like this.Mario Kart and Smash are good, but they need games like this to draw their themes and material from. Without fresh first party adventure games, future Smash Bros would have exactly the same roster as it has now.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Mission: Impossible:
I liked the embassy party, trying to punch as many guests as possible before security caught me.

Dammit, now I don't want it again. Make up your minds!Do you think now maybe they're looking at the comments they got from that announcement and are thinking: "hrm, customers really want this, maybe we should do it..."
...na me neither

R.I.PGot my first issue in 1995, had a review of Donkey Kong Land for the Game Boy. I stopped reading many years ago but the mag gave me a lot of joy in it's prime.
JimLad commented on Satoru Okada, Director Of Game Boy And DS Hard...:
The delay in announcement may have something to do with Nintendo's confidentiality agreement it has with it's staff. This guy probably knew loads of Nintendo secrets about what it was working on. If they had announced it on the day with fanfare, he would be hounded by all sorts of people and press to reveal those secrets.

I was just looking at the Smash Bros adapter bundle in another article and rolling my eyes. Now I read this and I'm getting one.Just gutted I bought a Pro controller recently.

There you go, a clearer explanation. The NL writers conveniently forgot about that article because they wanted to poke you all with the rage stick again. You poor innocent souls...
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: GoldenEye 007:
@OMGILikeTurtlez Yes!! I did the same sorts of things!
With the combination of player freedom, a great selection of weapons, and hilarious cheats, you could spend literally hours devising new ways to entertain yourself once the main game got boring.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Forsaken:
Another great game from Probe Entertainment, they also made Extreme G, Alien 3 for the SNES and Die Hard Trilogy for the Playstation.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: F-Zero X:
I wanted to love GX, it is in many ways superior, but the controls were just too off for me. I sold it for that reason. X will always be my favourite F-Zero. It had the best soundtrack too. Non-stop heavy metal shredding.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Wave Race 64:
Warm up time, follow that dolphin!
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Extreme-G:
The tracks were unforgiving indeed, crash, boost, crash boost crash... yet somehow all I ever wanted was to go faster

Yeah it does look very like Fez.4 player sounds neat though, I would consider grabbing a cartridge if it's good.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon:
Awesome Awesome Awesome game. Games like this are the reason I will never sell my N64. It's unlikely to ever make it to Virtual Console, and emulators don't run smoothly enough to do it justice. The soundtrack is what I will always remember...
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Mario Kart 64:
I'll agree it hasn't aged well, but you cannot deny the impact this game had when it was released. FOUR PLAYER SPLITSCREEN HOLY GOD It was THE couch multiplayer experience until Goldeneye came along, and even then it remained a staple of sleepovers and parties.Super Mario Kart was actually the first MK title I owned, but all my nostalgia goes to the 64 version.

Nooooooo, I love playing as the Ice Climbers!I hope they make it into the WiiU version, but I won't hold my breath.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: BattleTanx: Global Assault:
One of the best multiplayers on N64. In the Tank Wars mode each player was given their own squad of tanks. The weapons were awesome too, ranging from cannons to flamethrowers, mines, fly by wire missiles, turrets. And it all ran at a decent speed too.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Cruis'n USA:

Thank you for this
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Body Harvest:
One of my favourite N64 games. The real precursor to GTA3. So many more vehicles though: cars, bikes, planes, trains, trucks, tanks, boats, helicopters... all dotted over the landscape. Nothing beat that sense of relief when you find a vehicle after being on foot for ages. You literally need them to survive, because you wont outrun the aliens.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyJaaYoWPPw
JimLad commented on Video: Watch These Teenagers As They're Expose...:
Ok they're young, but they should know what Zelda is, come on.
JimLad commented on Nintendo 64x64: Bomberman 64:
This game was the only time they tried to do something different with their multiplayer mode, I definitely wouldn't fault it for that.I've played a lot of Bomberman games over the years, this is still one of my favourites.
JimLad commented on Feature: The Nintendo 64 Controller and the Ri...:
I won't have a bad word said about this controller. Sure it looks weird and clunky now, but without it there would arguably be no analogue thumb sticks, no rumble features, no triggers.
On a side note: Nintendo also standardised the D-pad, shoulder buttons and diamond face button layouts. They pretty much made modern controllers what they are.

JimLad commented on Wii U Minecraft Looking Doubtful As Dev Says T...:
Putting Minecraft on the Wii U at this point would benefit Nintendo far more than Mojang. If the console eventually gets off the ground with Smash Bros, then maybe they'd reconsider. The 3DS would make more sense for them, especially if it were bundled, kids would lap it up. But it would need an optimised version of the mobile version. Also the the current 3DS doesn't have that second analogue stick. The new 3DS would be a good match, but maybe it's still too much of a gamble for 4J. Third parties always have a hard time selling on Nintendo systems. Vita on the other hand has a pretty good attach rate for indie games.
If I were Nintendo I would do everything in my power (wallet) to make this happen. But because they live in such a bubble, they are completely oblivious to how massive Minecraft has become. It's now the third highest selling video game of all time, overtaking Super Mario Bros, and it's still climbing.
JimLad commented on Project: Nintendo 64x64:
Every second game on the N64 supported 4 player modes. That is why it's my favourite console of all time.

Now they just need a Smash Bros Wii U bundle and they're set.
JimLad commented on New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced:
So happy to see coloured face buttons. I know it seems like a small thing, but for inexpereienced gamers it makes learning the interface that much easier.
The next step is to get Minecraft on the system. Think how many kids would jump on that.
JimLad commented on New Legend Of Zelda "Only Possible" Thanks To ...:
I seriously can't wait for this.Like a Bethesda game, only not all bloody and depressing
JimLad commented on Miyamoto States That Nintendo Is Sticking With...:
What Yorumi said.Ideas like the Wii U pad are fine if they make use of them.Otherwise it's just an oversized controller that needs recharging every 4 hours.Made worse by the fact certain games force you to use it for the sake of a few touch commands and nothing else. BAD DESIGN.
JimLad commented on Shigeru Miyamoto Confidently Outlines Nintendo...:
I just wanted to add he is absolutely right about consumer attitudes. Not just Nintendo, but MS and Sony are all fighting the same problem: audiences with multiple distractions at their fingertips. Entertainment is so readily available now and so cheap, consoles will become an obsolete item for many in the future I feel.
Nintendo will always have their awesome IPs. I just hope they don't get too distracted by hardware gimmicks and try to keep it simple in the future.People will buy their games if the hardware is affordable.
Casuals aren't looking strictly for simplicity in their games, they look for value for money first and foremost. They can get games now for $1 or free, it's a difficult thing to fight against.
Wii and DS were popular not just because of their casual appeal, but because they were radical new ideas with intuitive software to back them up. Word of mouth was their main driving force. Also they were much more affordable than any of the current gen systems.
Wii U was an attempt to re-create that success which backfired. I could list a number of reasons, but the main ones are: There was no killer app like WiiSports, and it was too expensive.
JimLad commented on Super Smash Bros. For 3DS Will Feature A Music...:
Man that's awesome. My favourite from brawl was the Sonic Angel Island remix.I was only going to get the Wii U version but they're making it very hard for me not to buy this. dammit
