Raiden IV x Mikado Remix (Switch)

Lost in Play has many of the hallmarks of golden-age point-and-click adventures: a cartoon style, humorously animated protagonists, item-based puzzles, and curiosity-piquing 2D scenes serving as both play space and reward for clearing the previous area. However, it also shakes off many of the classic bugbears: pixel hunting is impossible because you’re moving a character, not a cursor; using no words in the game leaves the hint system to be helpful but not too transparent; there’s very little backtracking because environments are kept small and the time in them is brief; and wacky dream logic is completely excused because you’re playing in children’s imaginations. Over its five-or-so hours, Lost in Play barely puts a foot wrong, delivering cerebral gaming and effervescent entertainment. In doing so, it makes many of the genre’s design challenges look easy.

Where 80 Days was about the broad implications of travelling the entire globe, Overboard! focuses instead on the minutiae of a single day, and the intricacies of interaction. It's a glorious study in how to create a delicate Rube Goldberg machine of dialogue and dependencies, as a cast of mostly terrible people waltz around each other with ulterior motives and pre-existing feelings about everything, including our Veronica and dear, departed Malcolm. It's excellent: play it.

Alien: Isolation is a survival horror masterpiece and straight-up one of the very best horror video games ever released. It's a nerve-wracking affair – a slow, methodical game of cat and mouse against a brilliantly clever recreation of one of cinema's most infamous killers – but if you're up to the task you'll find one of the most satisfying gameplay experiences in the genre; a brilliant and beautiful homage to one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies of all time. Feral Interactive has done a stellar job with this Switch port and the excellent motion controls and inclusion of all previously-released DLC only go to sweeten the deal. This is essential stuff for survival horror fans.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a massive, sprawling JRPG built by Monolith Soft, who developed the previous two entries and the Baten Kaitos games on GameCube. The team also helped Nintendo design the world of Breath of the Wild, so there's no doubting the pedigree. You'll explore a massive open world made up of Titans – enormous living creatures that house entire civilisations on their bodies. Along the way you'll meet a wide variety of characters, solve a bunch of quests, and save the world. It's Monolith Soft doing what it does best, albeit without shaking off the occasional flaws of the series. This is another Xenoblade gem, though, and a must-have RPG.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a massive standalone DLC, Torna: The Golden Country, that's also well worth playing through. It serves as a prequel to the events of 2, so you can play it before or after.
AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative (Switch)

AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative is one of the most interesting visual novels we’ve played through in a while. The murder mystery at its heart is brought to life by some great writing and quirky characters alongside the satisfyingly integrated, beautifully balanced Psync puzzle elements. Even with some minor control issues, there is a lot to love in this game even if you never picked up the original. Highly recommended if you're even a little bit curious.
Gorogoa (Switch eShop)

The Switch’s eShop is saturated with bucketloads of high-quality content. This is great in one way, of course, but stumbling across hidden gems within it will get tougher as time goes on. Gorogoa is one such gem; a puzzle game quite unlike any other that deserves your attention. It is a little on the short side, but the creativity that has been put into its design, and the effect it will have on you during your time exploring its gorgeous world, is something that you’ll want to experience. If you’re looking for something new to try, this would be an excellent choice.
Lumines Remastered (Switch eShop)

Lumines Remastered is a luminary of the puzzle genre and feels perfectly at home on the Switch. Intense and immersive puzzle action, psychedelic visuals, a killer soundtrack, and a bevy of content and modes make for a premier puzzle experience that should not be missed. Lumines is an addictive experience that is positively a delight to play, and we would highly recommend it to both veterans and newcomers to the puzzle genre. There’s something here for everyone, and considering the relatively low price tag, Lumines Remastered is very much required playing for any Switch owner.
Death's Door (Switch eShop)

Death's Door is a modern classic, utilizing old gameplay ideas in a new setting to make for a short and sweet experience you won’t want to miss. The snappy combat, rewarding exploration, and relaxing music will stick with you once you've finished, and while it may not have anything 'new' to offer, Death’s Door is so high quality that you’ll hardly have time to think about it's lack of innovation. We’d give this one a very high recommendation, especially to any fans of Zelda or Soulslike games — Acid Nerve has crafted an experience that’s absolutely worth your time and money.

well how much are they on sale in U.S. dollars though? Im an American in the U.S. and I don't go by British pound or whatever.

@XandertheWise Have you missed the part where they said Europe in the title? They also had plenty of similar articles aimed at America specifically.
@XandertheWise It's specifically said in the article that this sale is in Europe, so they probably didn't put prices in dollars because some of these same games are likely not on sale in the US. Not everything revolves around your country.

@XandertheWise I assume they have people from all over the world that view the site making pricing guides a slippery slope on what currency to include or not include. In fairness to them ive seen them include articles from time to time based on sales in the USA. If they include us dollars do they have to include Canadian dollars also. So I side with NL in this case

I got Mark of the Ninja Remaster for that price during the last sale, but didn't get to play it yet. And it's likely to remain in the backlog till the next couple of sales
And ... there is never enough of Bayonetta 3 ... and for that price!
Hope this sale comes to the US. Thinking I might pick up Pentiment on Switch even though I have it via GamePass. Definitely is a great fit for a mobile device.

Including the price in US dollars would be silly. But since these articles are about European sales, and most of the European countries use the Euro, I'd say it would be the minimum to include the price in Euros, and yet Nintendo Life never does.
I wish I could take advantage of the Atelier Ryza 3 sale, the first 2 gane were just enjoyable comfy gaming. But I just cannot read the tiny subtitle text on the third game in handheld mode (which is the only way I use the Switch).
@XandertheWise it's for the European sales, you want dollars go see the North American sales articles on the site. They are separate eshops with separate sales and separate accepted currencies how are you not grasping that basic fact.
@FreasurePlanten yeah I don't know what Nintendolife has against listing Euro prices like you do get Eurozone readers like myself that would love to not have to open the eshop to see extactly what it's going for here.
I know reviews are subjective, but there appears to be a pretty big difference between the NL review scores and the user ratings on some of these.
The Atelier games really went on sale in only parts of Europe. Wtf. The rest of us only get discount on the remake.
I was hoping for a better sale, not many of my wish list have a discount, so then my interest is piqued for the following:
1. Pentiment
2. Tails of Iron
3. The Stanley Parable
1 & 2 would make a nice medieval double header, whereas 3 has a bit of a Half Life vibe (it being based on a mod).
Decisions, decisions....I was going to buy the Jeff Minter collection, but that might need to wait, so which should I buy from the above or are there any other unmissables?
I realised yesterday that my switch had fallen out of my bag after playing pocket card jockey on the plane to Portugal. 😭 I'm praying Jet2 found it. Luckily I left most of my game cards at home but did have 6 heavy hitters in the carry case 😢😢😢

@cra1g0s Pentiment was my GOTY on Xbox when it came out. Absolutely loved it, amazing game.
(Having said that, I'm also really enjoying the Jeff Minter collection at the moment too, so...)
@Alex79uk The Jeff Minter collection for me, would bring back a lot of memories, not just of games like Revenge of the Mutant Camels and others, but that whole era of PET computers, followed by the Vic-20 and C64...yeah, I'm that old!
I'm going to think about Pentiment, I like to have games that are a bit unique and this certainly appears to be.
@cra1g0s There are more than a few games on the Minter collection that you'll play for a couple of minutes just to see what they're like. Realistically there are probably 7 or 8 that you'll put any time in to (although your milage may vary, of course) but those games are brilliant and the accompanying interactive documentary is really nicely done. I'm definitely pleased with the package.

As much as I love me some sales, a 65 game list spread over 6 pages doesn't help me to narrow my focus very much, does it?
For most of these I bought them physical. I prefer physical over digital anyday.
