I can definitely say the game is a lot of fun. Have had the chance to play it several times, and it is an interesting fusion of ideas, definitely worth the $6 intro price.
I have been more excited for this game than Shovel Knight!
At least until it came out now I really really want Shovel Knight more than ever. But hey Armillo wins again by being cheaper! So excited toFINALLY have this tomorrow.
The game is pretty good for that price.
3D jump&roll full of platforming, puzzle and action elements, and many extras to collect and unlock.
Good level design and nice music too. But graphics seem a bit dark and framerate skips sometimes, and the extra stages (2D sections) controls are floaty.
Some scores/medals have bugs. You clear a stage with all the points you need but still get only Silver. On another level I have enough points for a Silver medal but got only Bronze.
Another odd observation I made is in the world select screen. It shows the number of the friends rescued in a stage. Two times!! Why have this number two times, separated, but in the same column, almost next to each other?
The Destructoid review made it seem like EXACTLY what I was expecting. A solid little platformer without a ton worth talking about. Which is perfectly fine, for six bucks especially. Might get it because it's an actual exclusive (if a timed one) and I'd have enough for Gunman Clive still.
In the AMA on Reddit that @Sylverstone linked above, there are links to many more reviews than the ones that are assembled by MetaCritic. In the AMA, they also said they are working on a patch for the frame drops (an issue I also experienced) and some other things that were discovered by reviewers. Based on the few levels I played this game absolutely seems well worth the price, but I'll wait to play more until the patch arrives.
One thing I did notice was the absolutely fantastic sound design, it's really really worth it to play it on the big sound system (off-TV gameplay would loose a lot). The GamePad implementation also is really intuitive and well made.
I really like this game, I think the technical issues is the only problem I have with it so far.

I wouldn't take this for granted. When did that ever had an effect on any game?
People who tried this solution couldn't really confirm any difference.
