So apparently the exclusivity contract between Square Soft and Sony has run out for Final Fantasy VII according to Square Enix on Twitter so in theory the game could actually be released on the Wii U eshop and XBLA now, but I'm not naive and know that the only chance of that happening is increased Wii U sales. So let's make the Wii U a success!
If we've said it once, we've said a million times: provide a source or we're just going to assume you're lying again. It doesn't help that several searches I've made have yet to turn up even a shred of evidence to your claims (and yes, I checked both of S-E's Twitter accounts within a month, which is the max time news like that should take to filter through the internet).
Final Fantasy VII has been available on PC as well since it was first released.
However, while I enjoyed playing the game back then...I wouldn't want to play it again. It's not even the best entry in the franchise yet they keep banging that drum over and over and over.
I believe the intent of the topic was to emphasize the non-Sony console aspect of the game's exclusivity. It's well-documented that Final Fantasy VII was released on the PC about a year after the game's PlayStation launch and its sequel received the same treatment. The Steam game in that link is a slightly upgraded version of the same PC port from 1998.
The question is whether OP's information is legitimate and Mickey has covered that one well. The only searchable recent source for this "news" directs back to this very topic on NintendoLife. I assume there was some sort of miscommunication as I've found nary a baseless rumor elsewhere and this type of information regarding one of the most popular JRPGs ever would likely slip out (even if only on other message boards).
I don't think its an issue of exclusivity is an issue that on Playstation Sony made the PSOne emulator and they only have to release the game, to bring it to other consoles they'll have to develop a PSOne emulator for Wii U or Xbone just for one game which doesn't make sense.... Or else they'll have to port the game which doesn't make sense to do for an old game (that's why old games are either remastered, remake or emulated, when have you seen anyone making a straight port of a 10+ year old game to a new console)

The packaging for that version of FF7 on PC was incredible. It also had that incredible unfoldable CD sleeve with the Midgar art on it that housed all four discs. It's a pity I lost it years back. Oh well, at least I still have the original OST in really good condition.
