Topic: What do you hate the most about Nintendo's Creators Program?

My biggest problem is the games and free advertising. Nintendo thinks we should play Wii Fit U but not Super Smash Bros?! Super Smash Bros. is one of Nintendo biggest games and they want us not to play this? Also they are just throwing away 3rd Party Support for games like Watch Dogs. What is someone wants to know how does Watch Dogs work with the Gamepad. Finally they are throwing away free advertising. Minecraft became more well known because of YouTube! Until I watched people play it I didn't want Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, but now I'm going to buy it because it looks fun. So this is what Nintendo is wanting us to do? But what do guys dislike the most.

If your not a content creator, then I don't think you should be complaining- as it does not affect you.

Honestly this thread is just going to promote hate.

I would've thought that this would be forgotten at this point...

I could tell you that Watch_Dogs is not a Nintendo published game (it's from Ubisoft), or that Nintendo themselves uploaded gameplay footage of Captain Toad, along with plenty of reviews that went up before the game even was released. I could tell you the program isn't finalised yet, or that the program is a better solution to the ''everything for Nintendo'' they had before. However, that would be a waste of time. Please do some research before going off on a rant.

Ignorance is bliss. SSB is not allowed because licensing.

Also they are just throwing away 3rd Party Support for games like Watch Dogs.

Because those are not their games.

Finally they are throwing away free advertising.

You mean the free advertising that major video game sites and YT channels do anyway? Or do you mean Youtube stars that weren't going to touch their games anyway?

Minecraft became more well known because of YouTube!

Hardly a point. Nintendo is already well-known and doesn't really need random Youtube stars.

I hate the fact that, despite the ignorance many show, this still hurts their public image

I dunno, I bought Pikmin because of a Let's Play.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

Which there is quite a bit of despite this program. I doubt this will make much of a difference for Nintendo fans

That youtubers have been getting away with it for years. LOL, OK it's not that simple, but I also don't think it's as simple as you're making it. People like Pewdiepie (or some other youtube hack) often play the ENTIRE game with only an annoying commentary as their contribution, and end up walking away with tons of money...for just about doing nothing, while using someone else's materal. Imagine if you wrote a song, and then someone dubbed in a few words and resold it. This isn't a parody, this isn't original fan work, it's poor commentary and video editing. That's a little too close.

If they're "advertising" or "promoting" it'd make more sense to play a portion, or do an ACTUAL parody (DBZ Abridged makes more sense), or do a critique/blog. Youtubers are acting like they're being so wronged, but really, they're just as greedy (or greedier because it isn't their work) when they play the entire game just to get more views of people who'd rather watch than play.

There is nothing wrong with watching people play, but shouldn't the ACTUAL devs get some of the profit? I think it's hilarious that Youtubers think they're actually contributing 100% when the 60-70% is actually even being generous to most youtubers.

Sure, Nintendo should give some ground with things like Smash Bros. matches etc. Because the competetive scene like that does help, and in reality is just showing pieces of the game.

@R_Champ My thoughts exactly! And I also agree that Nintendo should give out some kind of sponsoring deal for events like EVO to allow them to upload the videos with higher gain on their official channels, since there's a lot of organizing going on with those. Maybe even post highlight videos on the official Nintendo channels, but that's a different thing.

If Super Smash Bros U didn't have 3rd party content, it would be allowed

@R_champ
The ethics of idea ownership aside, many of the people that have been impacted by Nintendo's claims HAVEN'T been LPers. They have been reviewers, news commentators, or top 10 makers. I don't think many people would argue that Nintendo deserves to make money off of a video review.

Anyway, I'm honestly reserving judgement until it gets out of Beta. The internet likes to through their arms up in rage for everything, but there is a lot more to this than people are making out. 1: It's only in Beta. 2: We don't know which non creator's program videos Nintendo will be claiming.

I hate the fact content creators don't get a free WiiU with a set of okay games to use for the program. To a more serious note I do think Nintendo should send Miyamoto on a YouTuber your to hand out swag to members of the content system.

Don't really care, but the complaining is ridiculous.

We don't need another thread on this. The system is ridiculously stupid and flawed, and if you want reasons why, look at the other thread.

I'm still debating if I should jump into this. oh and if I should actually try out the nintendo creators program.

I don't understand the concept of watching someone play video games on the Tube. Instead of playing. The only way this makes sense to me if it is some kind of video walk-through (which I prefer to text walk-throughs). Otherwise, people who just play video games and then people watch them — eh it just doesn't compute for me.

Entertainment, I suppose. I mean, with that logic, why watch sports when you can play them?

Its odd indeed. we have been secretly conditioned to watch from the sidelines and not stray for fear of getting picked off like some gazelle separated from the herd. Thats why we watch people play. I was going somewhere with this but i got caught up in my own analogy.

Well for starters, it's cold outside. My knees hurt in my old age. I have no one to play with.

None of those are problems with video games. It's cold? Be inside. Knees hurt? Sit down. Alone? Play single-player.

I think the biggest difference is, of course, that everyone can play video games. Very few people are good enough at sports to be worth watching on TV.

I did say with that logic. And then you changed the logic.
