Just had a shock when a package got delivered to me containing a shiny new Wii U premium pack. I had ordered one from toys R us back in September when they had it on the site for £279.99 but I cancelled it when I had noticed an error with my bank details. I contacted them and they said they had cancelled the order and I could re order if I wanted to, I never did. I only ordered one from zavvi last week, I got the basic pack with Tekken for £249.99 witch I thought was ok. The Wii from zavvi was suppose to ship today but it was still awaiting stock pick. I was just checking the website again to seen if the status had been updated yet when I got a knock on the door and it happened to be my Wii U from toys R us that I cancelled on September. I have contacted the bank and they said no money has been taken or is pending from them and it must be a mistake on their part. I must say I'm very happy, I have had stuff go missing in the post but have never had anything for free. Am I a bad man for keeping it? I don't know but I am happy and now my cash is going on games for the system 😃 let me know what you would do if it happened to you.

Honestly I would connect Toys R Us about their error and either return the system or pay them the money for it.

Wowsers! Well I would say that you are doing nothing wrong by keeping it. If they go to all the trouble of sending it to you without payment, then they must really want you to have it for free. I would say that contact them just to be sure.

You know what's the right thing to do, listen to your concience. Sure, it's tempting to take this unexpected windfall but in my personal experience honesty has its own rewards. And that Wii U will never feel quite right if you did not pay for it, it will always remind you of your decision and you will start to regret keeping it.

Keep it. Toys R' Us can afford mistakes.

Honestly? Keep it. Do you know the saying "nothing in life is free" - well keep it because this one time it's not true for you.

I personally do not see any reason to be "overly fair" (after all you told them to cancel the order, everything after it was their fault) to big companies, governments or really rich people. But thats just my personal attitude - woefully shaped by being self-employed 4 years now!

Agree you can always take it into Toys R Us and put it into their Toys for Tots bin.

Funniest thing I've read all week. They must've intentionally sent someone an expensive, free Wii U for no reason whatsoever because, why would it end up in your mailbox without you having paid otherwise? 95% sure this is a mistake. Especially after his story of the cancellation over the phone. Someone screwed up and he got a free Wii U out of it. There's absolutely no reason they'd ever send it to him for free otherwise. It's not like it's Bob's Video Games down the street and he decided to personally gift it to him for his years of patronage. It's frikkin' TRU! Who would have the authority to send over a free Wii U for no reason? The guy he talked to over the phone to cancel his order, which happened promptly and without hassle?

"Oh, I liked that guy on the phone who cancelled his order. I'ma ship him a free $350 device for absolutely no reason and get fired." Yeah. That makes a lot of sense.

If you can live with yourself, keep it and see if you're billed soon. When a retailer sends you a package of goods without any charges, clearly addressed to you, no one's going to be busting down your door. No, really. It's not like you grabbed the Wii U off the shelf and ran home with it without paying. If you can't live with yourself, call them and spend an hour jumping through hoops to find out it was an error and resolve it.

"listen to your concience....."

Screw that, keep it and play it. F them, it's a faceless corporation anyway.

This. It doesn't matter if "big corporations" and "rich people" can afford the mistake. It's not yours. It would be stealing to keep it. Toys 'R' Us likely mixed up your order. Maybe that Wii U was meant for somebody else, but got shipped to the wrong house. Either way, contact them.

I foresee what you'll do there.

Something sounds funky about all of that. Better keep checking to make sure they aren't charging you and that Reggie won't bust down your door to take your wallet

New_3DaSh_XL

I wouldn't keep it.

True story: When I got my 3DS, on the box in pen it said"not mine", which meant it had been delivered to someone else before me. Someone's order probably got mixed up.

So I reccomend sending it back or calling and asking first.

Well I just got off the phone with my store manager for my local toys R us as I don't think I could live with the guilt, (huge company or not) but I am glad I did now. The manager did indeed check that it was sent out in error which it was, they still had my details on the system but had the incorrect bank details still on their (the reason I cancelled in the first place) as a result the card could not be charged but for some reason she could not explain the item shipped anyway. To cut it short they said I could keep the console as it was definitely a fault on their part and then she actually apologised to me for causing confusion lol. Anyway I'm glad I called them, it put my mind at rest and I no longer feel guilty 😇

must be nice. it's funny. i pre-ordered new super mario bros U and forgot to cancel the order. they didn't send me the game but they sent me the steelbook it came with for pre-ordering anyways. but you are extremely lucky. i wish they did that to me. i'm having a hard time finding one. people on kijiji (classified ad website) are charging an arm and a leg for one. someone is charging 700 for a basic set and 800 for a deluxe. someone else posted an ad on kijiji saying that he still saw some for sale at walmart in a town near where i live. so i hope in two weeks i will be able to get one when i do my christmas shopping since i had to cancel my pre-order.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

@True_Hero yea you're right, I am an honest person but it was so tempting just to keep the console without contacting them lol. Oh well I will still be spending a lot in there on games too so they will see plenty of cash off me for their good will 😉
