Sakurai said she won't be joining the battle, but he never said that for Wonder Red!

More from Sakurai:
"Normally, controllers for these types of games had knobs with variable resistors--these allowed the players to control in-game movement by how far they twisted the knobs. The TV-Game 15 used microswitches instead. We've worked a little too hard to reenact the behavior of the original, so the paddles always move in linear paths with the same, consistent speed. We pay attention to such peculiar details!"

The only game where I remember seeing anything Color TV-Game related was in a microgame in WarioWare: Smooth Moves. It was based on Color TV-Game 6 Light Tennis released in 1977.

Minor details, you say? Yes please! Those are some of the best kinds of details. Sakurai's mentioned his fondness for them multiple times. The TV-Game 15 itself is something I don't think anyone predicted. When I saw it in the Smash Direct, I was very surprised that something like this could not only appear in the game, but also be an Assist Trophy.

Beep.
That is all.

So, wait... Have any of you figured out what's with Player 2???? It looks like it could be an alternate Zero Suit Samus costume.... maybe... Am I just missing something, or can no one figure this out either?

Masahiro Sakurai in his Famitsu colum expressed interest in VR technology.

He thinks it would be interesting for driving games. “I often think to myself, ‘if only this dashboard and stuff around my feet were transparent’,” he wrote. He enjoys seeing the world around him while driving, but he can't see below the vehicle, which would be something he thinks would be exhilarating, and VR in gaming would make it possible.

Sakurai feels VR would work best for games with a fixed direction of movement such as driving games. “Because, having two concepts of direction – like with movement of a tank and the rotation of its cannon – is quite complex.”

“Personally, I’d like to play Jumping Flash! It’d probably be quite scary, though. You could probably make a crazy Love Plus game as well. A horror game like Resident Evil or Fatal Frame could be good, too.”

Obiviously, we won't be seeing anything like this in the new Smash. “Sadly, such a device is ill-suited for the Smash Bros. game I’m working on right now." However, he would be interested in using it in a first-person 3D game.
