Found this info on IGN Wii U for a new game called Shadow of the Eternals "from the creators of Eternal Darkness." Is this the sequel to Eternal Darkness you all have been looking for?

I don't know how to embed IGN videos so check out this site for more info. http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/05/03/shadow-of-the-eternals-t...

Oh man, I hope it's an Eternal Darkness sequel. I've been waiting for one ever since I finished the original.

Also, @Waveboy: Have you tried Amnesia on the PC? It might be something you'd be into.

I've seen clips of it on YouTube, but if playing it on the PC is the only way to experience it than you can count me out.
But yeah, Isn't it regarded as one of the scariest survival horror games, even out doing the Fatal Frame series?

Although the Fatal Frame games are pretty darn good I'd have to agree that Amnesia does outdo them. If you ever do decide to get into PC games you should check out both that and Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

More Info:

All this information comes from the Google cache of Precursor Games' website...

When Detective Paul Becker is called to one of the bloodiest gang massacres in Louisiana state history, only two survivors remain from a brutal conflict between two rival cults. As Becker begins his interrogations of the suspects, their combined recollections will uncover the truth about the ‘Ancients’.

Shadow of the Ancients is a sequel to the critically acclaimed Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Reqiuem. Featuring an ensemble cast of heroes and villains, the game will span over 2500 years of history throughout Egypt, England, Hungary, and the United States. Players will question the perception of reality as they try to balance the mechanics of combat, magick, and sanity events to progress through the adventure.

Shadow of the Ancients will take players on a memorable journey throughout time; weaving historical fact with disturbing fiction to create an experience unlike any other.

How long is each episode?
Each episode will be approximately 2-4 hours of gameplay.

When do you plan to release?
Q3 2014.

What platforms will Shadow of the Ancients be on?
We will be focusing on the PC and Wii U platforms. Other platforms may be added in the future.

Why no Kickstarter Campaign?
We would love to do a Kickstarter, but currently Kickstarter is only open to companies that are in the US or UK. We hope that we can work with Kickstarter in the future to make this option a reality.

However, by integrating the community into the development of the game, we can centralize our site with our crowdfunding system to manage this properly. Upon pledging on our site, you will be granted a Forum Ribbon to our Official Development Forums, where you can share your ideas and feedback about the creation of the game. It does not matter whether you sign up for the forums before, or after pledging – our database will recognize you.

Shadow of the Ancients will be an episodic series, and to complete the first episode and continue production on future episodes, we need approximately 1.1 million dollars. Any money raised beyond this will contribute to future episodes, additional characters, in-game perks, and additional platforms. The more money that we raise, the more we will deliver based on what our fans want.

BOUND SUPPORTER LE ($50) includes the following: Everything from Sane Supporter; Shadow of the Ancients Season 1 (Episode 1-12, two free episodes); Access to ‘Edward’s Secret Study’.

Receive the entire first season of Shadow of the Ancients (twelve episodes). Each episode features at least one playable character, access to a variety of new play mechanics, historically accurate weapons, locations and new magick.

They need $1.1 million to keep production rolling? That's a pretty hefty investment.

Any word on if Nintendo has any hand in this? They own the rights to ED, right?

Thanks for that info MDee14. So is it going to be called Shadow of the Ancients or Eternals?

This is epic!!! I recognize some sound effects from Eternal Darkness!

Truly, ED:SR was one of the best games for the Gamecube. Can't wait to hear more about this title. Count me in!!!

yeah this being in episodes really worries me, i bet the full game ends up costing way more than i want to pay. ED2 was one of the things i was most excited about since all the rumors started popping up, and it still does look really good, defiantly giving of eternal darkness vibes but still i can see it going sour.

put it on.

This is the best looking game we've seen on the Wii U yet.

As I said in the other thread on this, "I would like this game to come to fruition, however I'm not lining Dyack's pockets".

It does look great. Personally, I'd like to see Nintendo step in, sling Dyack out the window and fund this project themselves.

the footage in the trailer could just be the pc version with wiiUbutton-textures and played with a gamepad.

in the comment section of ign are a few very critical comments. some of them make sense to me like the one i mentioned above. i would be very careful with kickstarter campaigns. especially cause we havent seen much gameplay. character is just walking. the rest is cutscenes

This would be a great follow-up to Eternal Darkness... Too bad they are asking for over a million dollars from supporters. It is probably highly unlikely that this will get what it is asking for.

Innit

Eternal Darkness was high quality title, as well as overrated.

But you can kind of understand it. At the time, it was pretty novel and fresh. These days so many games are just twists on existing stuff. ED felt very fresh to me at the time.

Production levels were vey high, and Nintendo made sure SKs made a game that played well in the hands. But for once - IIRC - Nintendo's influence felt a little heavy input-wise. The overall result just didn't gel well. As opposed to the Prime games for example.

Who knows. It was a long time ago. While it probably fits into the rose-tinted glasses from the Gamecube era that the webs seem to wearing these days, I'd welcome it back.
