So much news on WiiU and 3DS has me real excited. As for my dream launch:
Pikmin 3 New Kirby (unlikely, unfortunately) New game/series by Nintendo Original 3rd Party games Demonstration Games from E3 2011 as bundled software with WiiU Star Fox Custom Robo
All I can think of right now. Hopefully Rayman Legends is also a launch title.
Honestly, I'll probably only be getting one game at launch, unless the system is dramatically cheaper than I expected. That game will most likely either be Ghost Recon Online, or Project CARS. Might consider Lego City Stories as well.

You make a good point here. Besides, realistically, most people aren't gonna buy more than a game or two at launch, so why put out so many and splinter the sales?
Be nice if its eshop was there day 1 with bare minimum the games available already on wii at least VC and wiiware, and hopefully wii u specific stuff within the first week.
-A new Metroid Prime (likely) -A new Zelda (very unlikely) -A new 3D Mario (less unlikely) -Wii Sports/Face Raiders/AR Games bundled software -Some new "core" Nintendo IP that surprises everyone -A bunch of major "core" third party console titles like a CoD or GTA (happening)
AND -A new game from a popular RTS series that has always been on PC THAT WORKS WELL on Wii U
They probably won't hit all of them, infact I'm fairly sure they won't, but if they do... that's going to be massive. Especially that last point. Going to the extreme, imagine a Wii U version of Starcraft at launch that works reasonably well. Near impossible but still, mind = blown.
The title of the thread is "perfect launch lineup?" not "what do you think the launch lineup will be?". Quite frankly your list is far from "perfect" and if it was just that I'd be struggling to find a reason to get it at launch. That makes it less than perfect given that... there have been launches where I HAVE wanted to get the console at launch. The Wii's launch lineup was more perfect than that because Wii Sports was interesting and Twilight Princess is Zelda.
If you want realistic then here goes:
Lego City Stories
New SMB Wii U
Pikmin 3
Bundled software including a couple of new ideas
Darksiders 2
Assassin's Creed 3
Arkham City
Metroid Prime 4
Battalion Wars 3 (done like a proper RTS)
A huge third party surprise... like GTAV or something
While I wouldn't call that perfect I think that's both realistic and enough to make me want to get a Wii U. If the best game is New SMB? It's going to have to be doing something pretty damn amazing to convince me.
We know that the Lego game has a 2012 release and Pikmin has been in development for ages so those could easily be launch titles. New SMB was pretty much finished at the last E3. They've confirmed that downloadable retail games will be a launch feature of the Wii U and New SMB 2 will be the first downloadable retail game on the 3DS. Would make sense to do New SMB on both as system testers given how small New SMB games are. We all know this industry though, any of these games could get pushed back to March especially Pikmin.
but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw all of them at launch at all.... and I'd also be pretty unimpressed if that was ALL we saw at launch
