Either Star Fox or F-Zero in HD would make me buy it. Mario and Pikmin are great, but niether seem like they are fit for showing off the Wii U's power.

Yeah agree with that,never really thought of it like that.I think Eternal Darkness 2 which I mentioned earlier could show it off though.

There is only one true answer "a winner is.." steel diver 2 but if Nintendo is stupid enough not to realase it then I'd go with maybe a metroid or a street figheter if it's not just nintendo we are talking about. I hate to say it though if Nintendo got a cod game on the wii u ASAP the system would sell well.

How would a Call of Duty sell Wii U? Everyone pretty much owns a 360, PS3 and PC by now. Why would they want a next gen console that costs $300+ for a game they can buy on their perfectly fine current consoles?

The Wii U is supposed to be marketed towards core gamers, so I once again, I doubt we'd see Wii U Sports or Wii U Fit at launch.

My List of Wii U Launch Games That Would Never Exist:

• Sin & Punishment 3
• A spiritual successor to Star Fox 64
• A spiritual successor to Super Mario World

Perfect launch lineup? Just having Mario at the launch doesn't make it perfect. Well, it does from a sales perspective but I'm not talking through a sales perspective. Throughout the years when the DS and Wii were Nintendo's current consoles (one of them still is but not for too much longer) people kept saying that they were changing their games for the casual gamers when there still many examples in games in existing franchises that they still cared about the core Nintendo gamers but despite them saying that they would be aiming the Wii U more at core gamers, New super Mario bros. mii was clearly made with casual Nintendo gamers in mind and not the core Nintendo gamers. Maybe I should wait until e3 to see more of the game but right now I'm very disappointed with the decision Nintendo has made with the New super Mario bros. Mii.

My realistic ideal launch line-up:

Pikmin 3
Mario (2D or 3D)
Wii U Sports, or whatever equivalent Nintendo comes up with
Whatever Retro's currently working on
The rumored HD racing game from Nintendo
Assassin's Creed 3
Battlefield 3+ (a suped up version including DLC)
Black Ops 2
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Batman Arkham City
Skylanders Giants

I don't actually want all of these games, but I think they would be great launch games for the Wii U, and I don't think any of them are too farfetched, even if unannounced. If all of these games did come out on day 1, the Wii U's launch could be the best of any console ever!

My personal ideal line-up would basically be a game from almost every Nintendo franchise... Not very reasonable...

In my opinion, I really thought the Gamecube launch games were good (I'm including Melee in that even though it was a few weeks late).

Why? Core gamers can enjoy a side-scrolling Mario game as much as anyone.

@TrueWiiMaster I know, I love the sidescrolling Mario games too but it just looks like New super Mario bros. Wii with Miis and HD. The Miis are probably to lure in the casual gamers (all the playable characters should be Mario characters, Miis shouldn't be in main series Mario games) and surely there are other core Nintendo gamers that would prefer Nintendo to be more original with the main Mario series. If its going to be the third 2D Mario game in a row with a similar visual style, they could at least have different themes for each world. BTW, I thought NSMBW was a fantastic game and thought it had some of the best level design I've seen in a 2D platformer and the multi-player was so much fun but it could have been more original. I didn't mind two aesthetically similar 2D Mario games in a row as there were still some differences in visual style (there was certainly more between those two than the first SMB and the lost levels anyway) but three would be pushing it, especially if the themes for each world was the same but in a different order like in NSMBW.

@FonistofCruxis I don't think the Mario Mii demo will be the same as the 1 that was shown last year.Miyamoto said that it will be based around the demo but it was only a tech demo after all.It will be a completely new gae I would imagine but have the multiplayer and Mii integration that was shown.Also if it meand getting the Wii U off to a good start sales wise then its all good Imo.I'm confident they are going to surprise us with a big title aimed solely at the core gamer.

I would like Eternal Darkness 2 more then anything and a new Shadowgate and Sega needs to bring Chakan The Foreverman back from the dead also forget Mario and Zelda I want me some hardcorz FPS throwing ninja stars from my controller screen to the TV with blood spray everywhere

Haha nice 1 mate,thought I was on my own there.Never played Shadowgate or Chakan but remember them from back in the day.What about Blastcorps?Fantastic game and pretty unique.Would probably do better as a Eshop title though.Favourite Sega game could very well be Landstalker,played it recently though and its not aged too well.Kind of wished I never went back to it actually as it ruined the memory haha

Yep had Landstalker on MD got it on VC great game also needs a new one so many old-school games should be unearthed and reworked for a new era of awesomeness. I have $1400 ready to rock n roll for this baby so I can get a few retail games and hopefully alot of cool VC goodness.

A Sega Wii U exclusive conclusion of the Shenmue story would return me to my glory days of gaming.I know its not gonna happen tho and if it does it will likely be on the other platforms as well seeing as they got HD remakes.Don't know what made me think of this but I always used to wish Robocop got a great game that does the original movie justice haha.Imagine a GTA IV style Robocop

I also hope that Catch Mii and Battle Mii will be packed in. Like how Face Raiders was packed into the 3DS.

But, I hope we don't have to wait for all the Wii U features like we had to with the 3DS. I want everything (That would be already announced) to be available day one.

I loved the Robocop movie too bad its sequels got progressively worse the 3rd is completely unwatchable to me, as for a good game featuring Robocop there was one that was very good it was Robocop vs Terminator on the megadrive the SNES version was very different and nowhere near as good, it was all action so none of Robocops humour sadly but still a lot fun for what it was.
