Frankly, I think it's justified. It's hardly a dethroning; it's more that they're sharing the throne.

Yeah, you're right. But I suppose one one-hundred of a percent separates #1 and #2. I still think OoT should be #1.

Although I do like galaxy I never saw the fuss over it personally. I know I'm in the minority on this but I really didn't think of it as a contender for best game ever, I think OOT is way better than that.

No no NO. It should have been that they are equally awesome! OoT is the highest rated game on metacritic, with a score of 99/100. While SMG2 got a 97/10.

OoT doesn't deserve the spot in my opinion, simply because while it was the most innovative, it's direct sequel was definitely the better the designed of the two.

I'm not sure if GameRankings does the same, but Metacritic scores aren't a direct average. Rather, they scale it based upon what they consider to be "importance and quality". While I can't prove it, it probably relates to better-known reviewers (If that includes X-Play, screw that)

Between Ocarina of Time and Super Mario Galaxy, I find Galaxy easily to be the better of the two. When it comes to Galaxy and Galaxy 2, I believe they made the better choice with Galaxy. Its presentation is leaques better than Galaxy 2's. I personally don't think Super Mario Galaxy is the "best game ever," but I'm not exactly surprised that it got that title, as it is the most creative title within a series involving perhaps the most iconic character in gaming.

I like Galaxy, but it's certainly not worthy of the best game ever title, and I even plan to write an article about why I think that.

There's just quite a bit that could be improved in Galaxy 1, and arguably a bit less to improve in Ocarina of Time.

after about 15 minutes, i finally stopped ranting to myself about this, and decided it was for the better, however it's still fact that LttP is the best zelda game ever. i dont give a flying hoot about who says otherwise.

Mario and Zelda are my two favorite series. This is the best Mario platformer. OOT is not the best Zelda. So this is a good thing.

Because it was a great game for its system, and for some reason people seem to think that means it's automatically better than all the other games currently in existence.
Look at the 3DS version compared to games of today - it's ok, but god it's dated. Time to take off the nostalgia goggles.

I know I'm going to regret this, but how is super Mario galaxy better? It's decent, but certainly not beautiful, and doesn't have a good story.
