The article compared the wiiu to the jaguar, as a console that was stronger than current gen competition but got quickly over shadowed by the stronger next gen consoles that released shortly after and went down the drain in only a few years.
It also says that dedicated gaming handhelds made no sense. For some reason. And that he's still excited by the prospect of virtual reality.
Yes, sorry I should have elaborated. I think whoever wrote the article is under the impression that he was involved with the Atari Jaguar. In which case the writer is not very informed, so I wouldn't put too much stock in their opinion.
And I honestly don't think I've ever heard anyone compare the Wii U to the Jaguar. The Dreamcast, sure, but never the Jaguar.
Well, if it's any consolation, if uncle Nolan and Atari are still relevant and heard of today... I don't think Nintendo will ever be irrelevant, even after they cease to exist as a big company (hopefully in the distant future of year X, of course).
Ok, if people have to keep telling us that game-focused gaming systems are no longer relevant and then specifically use the current best selling gaming system (aka the one with the least focus on non-gaming stuff) as an example, I don't think we can really take it seriously.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
I don't see that article as slagging wii u, he's just telling it as he sees wouldn't say I fully agree with what he's saying, but comparing wii u to jaguar doesn't seem all that far fetched to me, not that I expect wii u will do as bad as that there is some comparisons to be made I suppose,
The points Bushnell makes should come as no surprise to anyone. The man has had these sorts of views regarding the gaming industry for quite some time. He has never claimed to be the all-knowledgeable guru of gaming, he just has very particular views on the nature and status of the industry as someone who was instrumental in the business-side of the industry during one of its most important periods.
Sigh. I really wish Nintendo gamers and fans would stop getting so upset and annoyed when someone dares to have viewpoints about the Big N that they don't agree with. Is he right? Is he wrong? Only time will truly tell, and it doesn't really matter anyway — he's just expressing what he thinks about the current state of a business industry that he had a hand in establishing.

Agreed on all points, especially the second paragraph. Theres really no reason to get upset when he's just expressing his opinion, especially when we won't know who is right or wrong until after the fact...

I agree 100%. The Wii U, despite how much people who own it love it, hasn't sold very well, there's no denying that. Still the PS3 sold okay after everyone declared it was dead. (Nowhere as good as the PS1 and 2 tough) So it might still sell okay after all, or it might not. Who knows? This man is just giving his opinion. No need to hate him.

Unfortunately many Nintendo fans simply don't want to see the Big N being criticized. Nevermind that the 3DS almost failed and how the Wii U is in the same boat.
