Topic: How Do You Deal With Morons?

I'm a college student and a lot of the people I interact with, obviously, are gamers. However, I can't seem to bring up Nintendo, the Wii, or Wii U without getting talked down to, insulted, or ignored completely.

At the start of the year, they were saying it wasn't a next-gen console. Now, they've regressed to not even considering it a console.

"Maybe if you got a REAL console...!"

On top of that, they refuse to consider any Nintendo first party title to be a good game series. The Legend of Zelda in particular.

I believe firmly in what I believe. I like all of the Big Three even though I can't afford everything. They just get to me sometimes.

To be honest, even though they're supposed to be my friends, I'll be glad to be away from them over the summer and next year, but how do I deal with morons like this? How do you deal with these people? They're everywhere.

....No clue, never really ran into people like that in person...

with morons I have 3 foolproof choices:
1. ignore(this one never works but it's still worth mentioning)
2. play the fool(say stuff that make no sense or change the subject this one usually works)
3. play along(if you can't beat them join them, even if it's fake and forced it avoids trouble, but you can laugh at them aftrwards)

Ignore them and move on

The main reason I ask this is because yesterday, I was watching my friend with an Xbox One play Titanfall and noticed he had the ethernet plugged in. My roommate also had his One plugged in through ethernet.

I asked if the Xbox One didn't like the university's wifi. He (my friend, not my roommate) responded that none of the gaming consoles could connect. I pointed out that my Wii U could connect and he cut me off saying, "That's not a real console."

I said, "It is a console that plays games, so how is it not?"

"It just isn't."

Date a hot girl that likes Nintendo and ditch the dudes.

I can't understand that one at all - so when someone is an a-hole to you, you just play along, instead of, you know, proving what a moron he is?

It's simple - turn the side or make them see like idiots with something like "yeah, you are right, watching and paying for the privilege of TV on a console is a real deal." or something. Or that you just want to play games, and not, you know, watch them, which is nowadays a problem. I assure you they will turn red.

I just saw that they have X1 - so you can say "well, at least U can play 1080, instead of 900p and still not freeze"

Try and explain their ignorance to them, and if all else fails, ignore them and hang out with more intelligent people. My friends are kinda split on Wii U, but nobody hates it. Just that it isn't as next-gen as the PS4 & Xbox One & has little games on it right now. But everyone I know likes Nintendo's franchises to some extent and has at least some respect for them. I guess fanboyism and elitism is more prominent in college, or at least yours anyways.

Have you ever heard of a Playstation Girl's Club, or an Xbox Girl's Club, me neither.
I've lost count of how many times I've managed to strike up a conversation with a girl I liked by talking about their favorite 3ds games. The majority of women I've met who enjoy video games don't really care for the sort of ultra violent egocentric bro games common on Sony and Microsoft consoles, they enjoy the sort of lighthearted casual games that Nintendo offers, if you not only know about these games but enjoy them as well a lot of gamer chicks will find that to be a huge turn on because it shows that you've matured beyond all the gratuitous violence and ego stroking of the atypical 3rd party bro game.

well people tend to shut up as soon as they hear what they want to hear, so you agree and they won't keep at it for too long.

Seriously, chicks dig Nintendo way more than Playstation or Xbox. If you guys have not asked a girl to play Wii, then you are missing out on a good time.

Heck I'm not gonna lie i'm 32 and me and my fiance can't seem to put anything that's nintendo down. If nintendo continues to make games like this i honestly think i might be 78 still playing mario or zelda. My girl makes me feel special because she never puts me down for liking pokemon or anything nintendo. We even take turns playing mario or bejeweled twist on the same console. She does have her own though a 3ds. I have a 3ds and a ds lite. Forget those college friends of yours! They are too busy looking cool to have REAL fun...and we all know where you can have that at...on a nintendo console duh! GO NINTENDO!

Thanks for all the responses. I'll be sure to try those. The most effective would likely be ignoring them since tearing into their hardware isn't cool.

You don't. You ignore them or change the subject because a moron is not likely to change their mind, even with logical persuasion.

I would just ignore them. They tend to get worse if you keep arguing with them. I dealt with a lot of guys like that while I was an undergrad and now that I am in grad school, I can't find any gamers.
