Hey guys,

Apologies if there's a topic up for this already but I'm looking to pick up a copy of Disney Infinity 2.0 but can't decide whether to go Wii U or PS4.

I kind of want to roll on Wii U to support my primary console and home team but then the allure of that PS4 resolution is tempting.

What do you guys think?

With the Wii U version you can get the 1st game free, which the Playsets from the 1st don't work in the 2nd. I would recommend the Wii U for that reason.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

You can only download the first game free if your in the US. I would recommend the ps4 version I purchased the Wii U version it was so bad I picked up the PS4 version which while not a huge difference does run better no frame rate drops graphics are sharp not blurry and textures are better also higher resolution. Wii U is a bad port with the lowest resolution of all the console versions.

Also, the PS4 version allows larger toy boxes. I don't know how much because I haven't actually played it, but I keep hearing about that.

PS4, it's gimped on the Wii U, just like all the other third party games.

If you already own the first one, I would wait and purchase the second one on the same console. You can get the Digital 2.0 Toy Box Edition for $20, and if you really want the Avengers playset, it will be available for $30 then. You will still come out ahead by not repurchasing the portal.

I haven't seen any of that on Wii U

I picked up the original on PS3. I'm not too concerned with the playsets, just the characters really.

But to update the thread: I went for the PS4 version. I need something to play on my PS4 aside from Netflix and the occasional go on Destiny to justify the purchase anyway...

Thanks for your input, people

So for those that played this on the Wii U how many save spots does each Playset have? I hope more then the DI 1 had with only one save spot per playset.

Honestly if you have a PS4, why get it on the Wii U? You pay the exact same price and getting less. In it's current state, all 3rd party games on Wii U are either gimped or poorly ported.

If you want to support Nintendo, buy their awesome first parties or 3rd party exclusives like Bayo and MH3U.

I picked up Disney Infinity 2.0 for the Wii U for my son. It was his birthday! We played it for about 2-3 hours so far. My first impression is that some stuff seems to be improved upon the original and some stuff seems to be worst. Firstly, I think playing as the Avengers and other heroes is a huge plus. We had fun with the first playsets and characters but it's a nice change of pace to play super heroes. Also, we're having a lot of fun leveling up our characters. It's honestly my kid's first go at what I would call "very light RPG elements". The actual figures are really great looking (not that they were ever not cool looking), we have the starter characters (Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor), Captain America, Rocket Raccoon, and Venom. We desperately searched for Hulk locally but were not able to locate him. His actual b-day party is this weekend so he'll probably pick up a couple more if he's lucky. We didn't try out the toy box yet but there is actually a lot of value in the game despite the price tag and buying the toys.

Some stuff I didn't like were the controls and in game camera; and we encountered a few glitches with the gamepad and controls. I don't remember it being this bad on our copy of the original game on the 360. I used the gamepad and after playing for a little, all the helpful updates on the gamepad screen stopped working. The screen was working, but the crossover coins and collectibles were not showing up or updating. However the mission info did update. The camera is horrible. You're constantly fixing it and in fights it never seems to be looking at the action. This doesn't happen the entire time but it happens more then you would like. My son tried both the nunchuck and classic controls. At different times, the controls were glitchy and the plus button would fail to work, not allowing him to get into the menu (on both setups). All glitches eventually worked themselves out but it was annoying.

I didn't mind the graphics that much, and my son definitely doesn't care. They could be better but it's not a deal breaker. However, if you have either the Xbone or PS4, you would be better off buying it for one of those.

I don't see that a game like this would be any different on any console.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but just as well to continue this one as start a new as some points above are adressed...

Firstly, my son has a birthday today (tomorrow) ( 8 years, yahoo! ) and received a Disney Infinity 2.0 - Marvel Starter Pack. I thought of buying this digitally on the WiiU + a Spider-Man Playset to unlock levels. We already got 1.0 on WiiU. But with 3.0 right around the corner this is a great time to upgrade for those who haven't already. You get the 2.0 Starter Pack with 3 Avengers much cheaper than the same one digitally + a Playset with 2 figures - at least here in Norway.

As I said we wanted it on WiiU as it's often placed in their bedroom. The PS4 I keep in the living-room. But by mistake his uncle got it on PS4, so I had to check how they compared and ended here. After reading this thread I decided to "convince" the 8-year old to keep the PS4 one. So it's also a good time to jump console for those who want the PS4 one instead of the WiiU one but have found a new 2.0 Starter Pack a bit expensive. (Can't buy digital as you can reuse the portal only on the same system.)

@CaPPa I don't see that a game like this would be any different on any console.
You don't think higher resolution, better framerate, better controls etc. would improve almost any game?

Oh, and thanks for all the good information above guys!
Hope they have fixed much on the WiiU one also, haven't looked into it.

PS! I LOVE my WiiU, but sometimes you got to go with the head instead of the heart.
