Topic: 3Ds cannibalizing on Wii U sale?

Turning the 3D off in Wii U games instantly zaps the magic out of them and makes them completely dull, boring, unexciting, and lifeless in comparison. I rock the Slider at 100% and it's a flat out total eye popping and an amazing game changer. It blows my mind that a lot of you keep it off...If the Wii U didn't have 3D I probably wouldn't of even bought one by now.....Because it would just be another PS3 / Xbox with prettier graphics and Gyro controls and that to me just isn't exciting....I'd most likely be using it just for the SNES VC to be honest.

this is a changed quote from the 3Ds forum from a fellow nintendo lifer ...

And i think thats the exact reason why i wont buy the Wii u at launch and will even wait out at least 2 more years or something.
Interesting how something is true for one specific situation and suddenly in different situation is invalid.
All i thought was hey Big N why the heck does your "magical" gamepad DONT have a stereoscopic screen ?!
I already played ZombiU and Batman armored edition on the Wii U. Sure scanning and aiming with the gyrocontrols from the gamepad is fun, but on the other side ... my 3Ds already can do this. For example the RE: Revelations controls are much better and thighter than the ZombiU controls !
So why bother to burn 200-300 bucks on a fing that we already know and which is NOT portable. I think in the flexible working world of today - Counts for stressed out pupils and students as well - the 3Ds is a much better fit then a be stuck in the living room 300 buck machine with old HD graphics.
Feel free to discuss.
And yes i would have much more preferred a pikmin3 on a gorgeous 3Ds XL .... Imagine pikmin jumping directly into your face in sreedeee !

cheers

Never thought the 3D added a thing, a neat gimmick but I could easily live without it especially considering how you have to look at it from a specific angle to work, which completely messes up the 3DS's motion controls, so you either have working 3D or motion controls basically they just don't mix in the form used on 3DS.

Uh... it doesn't have 3D because it has HD, doesn't need 3D, they tried Pikmin 3 on the 3DS and it didn't work, they figured out Wii U would be the best platform for it...

everyone is different. im perfectly confidet with motion controls and stereo 3D at once. And there is a big reason why NOW at every game i first think damn THIS scene would look in stereo 3D so much better ... ( I look at you RE6 ) So many moments .... Look at the pikmin3 trailer for example. All those flying insects and even flying pikmin would be so gorgeous in stereo 3D.
And yes i prefer unique stereo 3D to HD graphics ....
Even SD pikmin would still look gorgeous in stereo 3D.

Look on the bright side. Already $60 games might cost $70 in 3D+HD, which I'm not even sure Nintendo could do, plus it'd be a bit disorienting to look from a 3D screen in your hands to a 2D screen on a Wii U and back again.... I think it's fine as it is. Plus, an already expensive GamePad would cost possibly $150 instead of $100, give or take a few bucks.

yes you think ecconomical. But i cant just loose the feeling that the Wii U seems a step backwards. And honestly its already possible to play ps3 games in stereo 3d, so why not make it a standard for all next generation consoles? Ps4 , xbox760 and wii U. Even when on some of those the resolution would be lower ...
Since DS , Wii , 3Ds i think Big N always enchanted their audience. Right now it doesnt seem to work ...

I don't always think economical, just for that example. The PS3 can do 3D, yes... if you have a 3D TV with 3D glasses with one of, like, 10 games that really, aren't all that great. A step backwards? Wii U isn't just a step forwards-it's a leap. It added HD graphics to gaming that's better than PS3 or 360, has the first real Touchscreen remote that you can play games on with the remote being HD too, a 25GB disc, with 50GB dual layer disc, MiiVerse, which in itself is quite amazing, a camera ON THE REMOTE, a microphone on the remote, 2 analog control sticks, an NFC reader, which hasn't been on a remote before either, plus a variety of great game, honestly, I don't see the need for 3D. If a developer wants something in 3D, they can put it on the 3DS. If they want something in glorious HD, they can put it on the Wii U. You don't always need everything in every console. Again, if Pikmin 3 went well with 3D, they'd put it on the 3DS. But it doesn't, so they put it on the Wii U. Finally, why put something on a console not everyone will use? The 3DS was an expiriment. If it turned out well, they might put it on a future console. People think the 3D is ok, but not necessary. I have a 3DS. While I think it's great, I don't see the need for it on the Wii U. It didn't really turn out great enough for them to make the GamePad 3D.

Even if you aren't glad about everything the Wii U offers, you must understand this: People are buying the Wii U. They like the Wii U and think it's fine. I would've liked a way to chat on KIU, but there isn't. I've learned to live with it.

My only suggestion is to play on the Wii U for a bit longer. Play more games, play with friends, whatever. I haven't, but people that have say it's great, the GamePad is light, and it's a really fun expirience. Maybe after a while on the Wii U you'll see the true genius of Wii U, and how it doesn't need 3D.

if the reports are true that the 3DS can be connected to the WiiU. what`s stopping the dev`s using the 3DS top screen to play games in stero 3D.
it`s unlikely, but who knows what nintendo has up their sleeves.

This I must admit would be pretty cool. If this is true, that'd be awesome. Devs would, however, have to develop special 3D content for their games.

hey that sounds like im the most crazy nitpick in there.
Most time i was all confident with nintendo products and stuff. But now its changing and i spoke with couple of people and read many articles i am not the only one who doesnt feel that "new" magic when they get hands on the Wii U.
The time in 2005 was very different. Now in 2012 you wont have the magical feeling with the Wii U. And just because stuff is bought doesnt say that its right. Look at PS vita, sure some people bought it but now ? There is nothing left to do. And atm i just see one blockbuster on Wii U which is pikmin3. Just buying a new console on launch day just with the manufacturers promise to bring great franchises in 4+ years wont work anymore ...

Because the game pad has a touch screen. And as we know Touchscreen means no 3D.

I didn't think of that, that's true.

When I said this, I meant no offense, aand I did not mean for you to feel like a crazy nitpick There are those that won't like the Wii U. Did you read what I said? I said this in the thing you quoted, which is that not everyone will feel the "magic", like you. I feel the magic. I know other peope that feel the "magic" Just because you can't feel it, doesn't mean no one else can. Also, just because you only see one good game, doesn't mean other people don't see other good games. I personally want NLand, NSMBU, LCU, and Pikmin 3. Some people want BLOPS2. Some will get Bayonneta 2. Still others will get Sonic&Allstars Racing Transformed. It's just opinions. Peoples opinions will be different from everyone elses, which makes us all nitpicks, if you want to put it that way.

the thing is i dont need a Wii U to experience bayonneta2 or black ops number 234.

Those look like multiplat titles much like assasins creed 3. Choose a platform and enjoy it on that be it computer , ps3 , wii u or whatever.
Same example with mass effect3 , you should choose the platform which you already own or where its most comfy to play at. And i doubt that will be Wii U.
That locked system is not very helpful ( i know apple and microsoft and most companies are doing it). If i would buy a Wii u title at least it should be innovative like for example nintendo land. Sure footage looks fun but im not sure if nintendo land will motivate long enough. I predict a same fate for nintendo land like for wii play. If u ask people nowadays if they wanna play wii play with you the will just roll their eyes.

ps: wondering when people really will be getting tired of beeing bottled with the same old ports from two year old games, just with the add of a huge plastic tablet as a inventory innovation

I keep my slider maxed on my 3DS all the time, and going back to playing games on my Wii in 2D feels so bland after that. It's probably one of the reasons I barely care about getting a Wii U. I'm glad it at least has the potential to do 3D, but it's sad that there hasn't even been one game announced to have 3D yet.

this is factually wrong

also there's no way Nintendo Land is like Wii Play. That's Game and Wario's job.

i won't even get into 3d somehow matters because I'm laughing too hard

Since people have been gaming for decades without stereoscopic 3D, I don't think the WiiU is being hindered at all, especially since people generally really don't seem to care about 3D all that much in the first place, at least if the sale of 3D TVs is any indication.

Some people are putting way to much emphasis on BS like 1 specific title, 3D, and "magic" (wtf is that anyway?). If you want one, buy the damn thing, and be happy about. If you don't want one, then don't buy one, and quit complaining that it doesn't have unnecessary features.
Sheesh.

Do I even play?
