@Mijzelffan I didn't say you're guaranteed a free play from the practice machine, but that it's possible to earn one for getting 10 practice badges, which so far I have done on all 8 attempts across 4 days on two 3DS systems. It should be a rarity to walk away with nothing if you know what you're doing, and even if you fail to get 10 practice badges, they'll at least count towards the next day to make it easier.

@Mijzelffan It doesn't give a lot of blue or red bonuses, but you get a free play for each 10 practice badges you get, which you should be able to get on most days. Plus, they accumulate from day to day, so to fail to earn a free play 2 days in a row you must be doing something wrong if you couldn't get 10 badges across 2 days: look for ways to cause an avalanche instead of only grabbing badges one by one.

It's sharper but that also makes the polygon figures stand out worse. It's not a big enough improvement to justify rebuying the game, so pretty much only worth buying if you've never owned the game or are a diehard fan of the game. So many things in this game drove me nuts though, and I have no intention to play it again.

iphys commented on It's Cats Against Dogs in the Next European Sp...:

Kind of a bad idea to do it after the fact, as everyone will know that dogs beat cats by a landslide in popularity in NA, so probably even more people will choose dogs just knowing they won previously and it will just end up even more lopsided.

If they'd included even the most basic colour palette options like on the GBC these games might have been more popular. I know I was specifically boycotting buying the games because of it. The GB library was huge and they've surely missed a lot of good games.

Planes because they can take you to more exotic places and you don't have to worry about getting run over by a drunk. Plus, the one time I went against Marie the Decepticons trashed Autobots, so clearly I should stick with Marie and her love for planes.

iphys commented on Poll: Which Is The Best Super Mario Platformer...:

SMB2, Super Mario Land, and Super Mario World are my favourites, but I went with Super Mario Land because it's so short and sweet with such great music, and as one of the first GB games it was so mind blowing to be able to take it with you and play it anywhere.

I've definitely noticed the difference when I'm in a room hosted by a Japanese player that it seems like the Japanese players just kill me before I even have a chance to exchange kills. The only thing that makes sense is that they must have like a third of a second advantage due to lag, because usually it's pretty much a given that my Kraken roller is going to kill anyone within range or at least exchange kills, but I'll go to jump splat and be dead before I can even unleash it to have a chance to exchange kills.

iphys commented on Feature: Handheld LCD Gaming Past And Present:

I had so many of these as a kid: the basic race car and soccer ones and fancier ones like Double Dragon and Marble Madness. Got rid of them the day I got my Game Boy, but some of them were pretty fun.

iphys commented on Nintendo Download: 27th August (North America):

Sin & Punishment is 1200 points on the Wii, so I wouldn't call $11.99 upping the price. Nothing cheeky about asking a little more for import titles they know we shouldn't have already paid for and played extensively like a lot of games people just rebuy on VC.

iphys commented on It's Autobots vs Decepticons in the Upcoming T...:

I always collected the autobots as a kid, and I wear an autobot sticker on the back of my hockey helmet, so I guess I'm going to have to side with Callie for the first time ever. I feel like Decepticons will win though, not that they should, since Decepticons are always the cowards that retreat when confronted by the Autobots.

I wound up 20 pounds underweight once because I just kept playing Tetris no matter how hungry I was. Pretty much I wouldn't stop playing till I started getting shaky and felt like I was going to pass out.

I know I could be fired from my job if I talked to the media about it without permission from public relations, and I don't even work anywhere at all secretive like the Treehouse. It may seem harsh, but he never should have taken the gamble if he cared about his job so much.

I've been satisfied between the Nintendo games and Indie eShop offerings. Let's face it: most 3rd party games aren't usually worth paying full-retail for and end up being $20 bargain-bin games after a few months, and I'd rather just play the Indie eShop games, which are usually a little more unique than the stuff 3rd parties do that are just tried-and-true types of games.

@ultraraichu Some people naturally stay up very late or wake up very early, a lot of people have insomnia and wake up for a couple hours in the middle of the night before going back to sleep, or a lot of people are forced to work strange hours and adjust their sleep schedule accordingly.

Water Slides. Went 28 and 24 and won a 3v4, so I'll always remember that fondly, but I definitely did feel like I had more weaker teammates than on team Dog, so I'm not surprised the overall winning percentage was so low.

iphys commented on Shigeru Miyamoto Releases Statement on the Pas...:

Wow, even Miyamoto didn't see it coming. At first I kind of wondered why Nintendo wouldn't have transitioned him out like Steve Jobs when he was dying, and I felt almost lied to that they didn't give us any sign this was coming after being so forthright about his initial medical problems, but I guess really no one knew.

I like the colour and look of waterslides better, so probably that, although I do rock the roller so maybe I should go roller(coasters). In Europe it would be a much easier decision for me to take sleeping over eating, but I fear that team might sleep in and miss Splatfest, lol.
