Definitely the Donkey Kong Country games, especially the second one. Street Fighter Alpha 2 was another great looking game on the SNES, although because of the graphic decompression chip it had a bit of delays between fights.
Donkey Kong Country 3. If you look at it again it's quite a bit sharper than the first two, although stylistically I'd say Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong Country 2 are better.

I actually think that DKC 3 is the worst looking of the series. The Dixie and Kiddy look pretty sharp, but some of the enemies and backgrounds look awful.

Strange answers...Super Mario World & Super Mario Kart?????? What?! SMW's graphics suck and Super Mario Kart's too. (3D+SNES=Not good) Have you played Donkey Kong Country 1,2&3, Super Mario RPG & Yoshi's Island? ('em are my favourite games too) THAT'S what I call good graphics.
@crystalyoshi: The graphics in SMW are great, especially considering that it was a launch title. While they may not be incredibly impressive on the technical side of things, they still have a unique look and tons of charm that more than make up for it,

I concur with Poochy: while Super Mario World may not be the best-looking game on the console, it does still look nice, especially considering that it was a launch title back in 1990/1991 [JP/NA]. The game's pastel-toned graphics are really nice to look at; and, afaik, it was the first ever Nintendo game that used color-layering effects. It's a true classic, especially since it's very fun and it has ninety-six exits.

From a graphical stand point there were quite a few that didn't seem all that generic that stood out, but there were a few that just really caught the eye. Some were excellent like Super Mario RPG while others were total turds like Act Raiser 2. Super Mario RPG Actraiser 2 Yoshi's Island DOOM (from a technical stand point) Donkey Kong Country Trilogy Super Castlevania IV Gradius III Street Fighter Alpha 2 TMNT4 Turtles in Time Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures Zelda Link to the Past Super Metroid Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
Those would be some strong contenders. There's more but those have some stand out moments or just the overall package really depending on the title. Usually those using extra chips like Yoshi or SMRPG or SFAlpha 2 get an edge over those that don't.

nearly every snes game has an amazing color palette and great art, but super metroid stands out as the most impressive to me. some subtle details, like rain pelting off samus' suit, water splashing from her footsteps in damp caves, or her night vision visor flickering in the dark, just weren't seen at that time; i struggle to find anything about it that hasn't held up well.
hope the photos work...
the boss/enemy design was unreal:
the changes in lighting from area to area gave an amazing atmosphere, from the pale blue haze of the beginning labs to the ambient green tinge of the caves:
lava casts a plusing glow on everything nearby, with heat waves rippling the background:
the light-bending effects underwater are beautiful to look at:
and the speed booster still looks every bit as awesome today:
the great thing is that the graphics weren't just good for the sake of impressing people, but to achieve the atmosphere they wanted for the game. everything feels purposeful, nothing was gimmicky. every environment is interesting, every enemy is memorable, every pixel is perfect.
the best part is that it looks even better through component and 480p on the wii...
I just played through Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! today and was really impressed with the graphics. It's a pretty fun game at that, too.

@Poochy - I have that game, and yes, it is fun. I still need to beat Challenge mode, though. You gotta love pastel-toned graphics; as seen in games like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose!, and DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure.
The SNES won out because of its better lineup: Mario, DKC, Zelda, etc. All were great games that everyone was familiar with from the NES days, whereas Sega kept trying to create new games without expanding upon most of them (except, of course, for Sonic; Ecco had two sequels on the Genesis). Selling what works is better than trying to be original all the time.
Also, the Super FX was smarter than the 32X in that the Super FX was simply a chip embedded in select SNES games while 32X required an attachment. Nintendo was wise in that it saved trouble and money.
Nintendo didn't go into the compact disc scene until 2001, which is probably a good thing. No backward compatibility, but no worries about scratching and breaking.
