SO happy!!!! Came with Mario/Duck Hunt. I bought the zapper, Ninja Gaiden, and Kid Icarus. I'm way too young to truly experience NES, but I grew up in the N64 era, and I still have the 64. So, back on topic, how'd you get your NES, or tell about your first time playing one, even if on virtual console.
The NES is older than me, so I'm lucky my parents got it. Only got a few games though. I had Super Mario Bros 1, 2, and 3, Tetris, Duck Tales, Duck Hunt (it was Mario/Duck Hunt too), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 and 2, Dr. Mario and just recently found the gold Zelda and Zelda II cartridges.
I was 12 and saved up my cash and went to Woolco in the fall of 1989 and bought the NES + SMB and 2 controllers set for $180. It was the last one they had left that included SMB, so it was the display one, and one of the controllers had really loose buttons from people beating the hell out of it. I always wound up using that controller though, because I liked that the buttons were so much easier to push on it.
February of '86 or '87, on a Sunday after church. We were going to go to Toys R Us right afterwards, so that felt like the longest sermon in the history of ever. Of ever. Got the original set with Rob and the Zapper and all. When not playing Ninty, me and my friends would often use Rob and the gyros as a Cobra robot-factory playset when playing with GI Joes -- the spinning gyros made for an awesome torture device, as it would pretty much sand the face off of "captured" figures. =D
I got mine as a birthday present back in 1985. I was a wee little 6 year old. I still have the exact same Nes and it practically works like new. Not sure how I managed to take such good care of it all these years. Nice to see someone from the younger generation so excited about the old beast. The Nes was the king of videogame systems in it's day. Treasure it always.

My dad got a NES sometimes in 1990, before I was born. I used to play it quite a few times when I visited him from 2003 - 2008 and I found it to be an excellent system. Prehaps I'll buy a top one if I ever get a NES of my own.
My grandfather bought mine in 1993, when it was going out of style (I think). I was 3 years old, but I vaguely remember that day. I also remember my sister getting one of those pregnant Barbie's at the same day, but thats another story.
First game I recall playing was Little Samson, ironically one of the rarer games these days. Other was the natural one; Super Mario Bros. I still have the same console and both of these cartridges and they work without problems.
I got mine around 1990 with Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, two standard NES controllers and an orange Zapper. My mother got it mostly for me and party for my sister, and I've been pretty much hooked on video games ever since.
I got it for Christmas in like...95 or 96 from some family member just giving it away for newer and "better" stuff.
Single handedly got me into video games. I doubt I'll remember all the games I had but... -Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt -Super Mario Bros 3 -Zelda -Zelda 2 -Megaman 3 -Ninja Gaiden -Pacman -Q-bert -TMNT -TMNT2 -The Karate Kid -Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers -Ducktales -That skating/surfing game I forget the name of -Some arcade shooter -A pinball game -Kirby's Adventure -Some sort of weird dueling battles Medieval game -Final Fantasy -Terminator 2 -River City Ransom -Bad Dudes -Superman
I actually still have my original NES from 1985, although I've long since turned my attention to the Famicom. I do still play many of my NES games on my Famicom via an adapter.
