So sad. Such a cool little system that got so little use. It lived up until the PS4 unveiling, and then they just dumped most mentions of Vita, marketed it as a PS4 GamePad, and let it die. Once Switch arrived, Vita had outlived its purpose.
Poor Vita. It shouldn't have been abandoned so easily in favor of 3DS games by me....but it was.
The vita does have quite a lot of good games. I have just as many retail Vita games on my shelf as I do retail 3DS games.
The main difference is that it just has very few unmissable exclusives.
Although I only had my PS Vita for two years before I gave it to my friend who went backpacking a couple of years ago, I really loved my time with it. The quality of games in its first year was certainly impressive!
Everybody's Golf
Gravity Rush
LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
MotorStorm RC
Persona 4 Golden
Super Stardust Delta
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!!!
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Virtua Tennis 4
WipEout 2048
I also enjoyed playing Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway the following year before I waved goodbye to it.
For me, the PS Vita is the most beautiful looking handheld of all time. This Stormtrooper-esque colour scheme is something I would love to own just for the sake of admiring it...
As a person who never had PS console I only watched God of War lets plays. The Vita (and the PSP) gave me the opportunity to play 4 God of War games without having PS home console.
I have a black Vita with the OLED screen. I did have a collection of physical games, but I sold them all when I got my Switch. Now I'm digital only on a 32GB card. I don't play it as much as I used to, but you'll still catch me firing up Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours... I love that game. The Vita is Dead. Long live the Vita!
With Sony cutting off PS+ to PS3 and Vita in 2019 I suddenly feel the need to purchase a backup Vita. I have a 1000 model, and it continues to work well, with no screen decay visible. However, eventually the screen will die, so I feel an urge to finally purchase a backup 2000 model. Not just for the Vita exclusives, but also for the PSP and PS1 games that I love so much.
I'm still waiting for the port of MGS: Peace Walker on Switch, Konami.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,251 games (as of April 24th, 2024)

@gcunit - this thread was previously discussing supposition, my thread was discussing official news.
Whatever. I don't care.

I'll be hanging onto my Vita for many years. On top of the various great games released for it, it's the best way to play old PS1 classics because the smaller screen means their lower resolution doesn't appear so badly.
I don't have a Vita but I have used it and I always thought it has a great screen especially when compared to 3DS and Wii U's Gamepad. That screen makes Nintendo's look blurry plastic.
So I decided to splurge for my birthday, buying a lot of 40 Vita games for $800. All CIB, with condition being good to great. Looks like an interesting mix of genres. Should give me plenty to dabble with for a while (years...easily).

I truely regret having not begun to collect Vita games sooner. Some of these niche NA games are pricey and it's only going to get worse. Considering the Switch has most of my attention collecting-wise I don't believe I'll aim for a complete Vita collection. Limited Run published games alone would set me back $2500, minimum.

@Magician Wow, amazing lot! Not a bad price either for CIB games.
I'm still on the hunt for a mint, slim Vita. The japanese versions looks AMAZING but prices are steep already. Lets wait and see.
The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.
Well, my backup Vita slim should arrive today. I look forward to loading it up with 30+ PS1 games and 30+ PSP games. It's easy to take a hard-pass on the upcoming PlayStation Classic when you can play a better selection of PS1 games on your PSP or Vita. And in portable form.
