Topic: Guitar Hero being discontinued

Activision has announced that the Guitar Hero buisness unit is being "disbanded" and the series is being discontinued. The DJ Hero and Tony Hawk series will also apparently be discontinued.

I'm definetely not surprised. Activision milked Guitar Hero to death (SIX Guitar Hero games were released in 2009!) and offered almost nothing new with each instalment.

It's too bad that there has't been a good Tony Hawk game in almost literally 10 years. It could have been so good.

I love Guitar Hero, alot of people dont but I do. They said that there wont be a title in 2011 but they may go back to it in the future. which is ok with me I dont think there should be one every year....make it dlc(which they will still be putting out in 2011)

Good. Although this ship should have sailed quite long ago. It wasn't a bad series, just one that was overdone. New entries didn't bring anything new or compelling.

Now we need to talk to EA 'bout the anual sports games.

Correct. 4 was the last good one (the THUG games weren't horrible, but not too great), though i will always personally prefer 3.

Nothing like the original and American Sk8land for the DS.

So what do they have left now? That thing known as COD? When that well finally dries up (hopefully soon unless people are stupider than I think) Activision won't have any ground to stand on. And even if that well never quite dries up, I doubt they can stay afloat with ONE franchise....

There are a number of good music games. They all come from Japan or Korea. Why haven't they been localised? Westerners are pansies when it comes to difficulty. Also we don't like it when they create original songs for the game, or something. _{Stupid Activision.}

I don't care much for music games (only one I own is Audiosurf...I guess you can count Electroplankton...), so...whatever. xD

According to IGN they are discontinuing Guitar Hero and True Crime to spend more resources on Call of Duty.

Ummm....I also read they are discontinuing DJ Hero as well. Does this mean we won't be getting DJ Hero for 3DS?? I really hope not....

I never understood how those games became so popular. I admit I did by one version of Guitar Hero but that was only because it was the Metallica version and I am a huge Metallica fan. So yeah I wont be missing that series too much.
