LIke most everyone else, I'm happy about this. They should have just made 1 and had all the other songs DLC, instead of making 15 new games every time.
I thought I heard an announcement for a new Truecrime a little while back. I guess not any more.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
lol wow that article made Activision sound like their going out of business tomorrow. I guess I just assumed the rest of the world was still buying Guitar Hero games like they had 'Madden' written on them....good to know I was wrong. I bought the original Rockband (with all the stuff) and a friend gave me his PS2 guitar controller and both Guitar Hero games....6-10 game hours later, all the songs were done on the highest difficulty and I felt no desire to ever touch them again. Rockband had the multi appeal for a little while, but once my friends got bored with that it entered a closet and never left. I got Rockband 2 last year for Christmas and never even took it out of the box.
I was under the impression no one had even noticed a Tony Hawk game since 2004, but apparently 3000 people still do.
Unfortunately Activision has Bliz and they have WoW....Activision ain't goin' nowhere.
@y2josh - I can't believe making CoD games even takes effort anymore...they've been using the same graphical engine since 2007 and the same general presentation/mechanics since 2003.

@Swerd_Murd Also, as some others have mentioned, they have Call of Duty. Which apparently is the entire reason they're dropping Guitar Hero and True Crime.
Guitar Hero 3 was released October 28, 2007. Warrior of Rock was released. September 28, 2010. That is 3 years apart. In between we had.
Aerosmith - June 29, 2008 World Tour - October 26, 2008 Metallica - March 29, 2009 Smash Hits - June 16, 2009 5 - September 1, 2009 Van Halen - December 22, 2009
On the DS On Tour - June 22, 2008 Decades - November 16, 2008 Modern Hits - June 09, 2009
Band Hero - November 3, 2009
DJ Hero - October 27, 2009 DJ Hero 2 - October 19, 2010 (not in the 3 year total)
So between and including 3 and 6 there are about 13 games in that franchise or approx 4 a year. 7 of them are from 2009
The music gaming industry is interested but not in this frequency.
I liked the franchise for a little while, but nowadays the plastic instruments just take up space in my closet, so I honestly don't care if it dies or not.
Also, I guess this means we'll be seeing a new Call of Duty game every six months. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play River Raid or some other Activision game that isn't part of one of their milked franchises.
I am a Guitar Hero fan I have: Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Guitar Hero: World Tour Guitar Hero: Smash Hits Guitar Hero 5 Band Hero
I didn't buy warriors of rock because I got tired of paying full price for these games. That is about $500 including all the plastic instruments. I still plan on buying Warriors of Rock but just not yet. now that it is discontinued I'm afraid the price won't drop.
Hmm, Activision has killed off a once-huge franchise to dump even more cash to pump up another huge franchise. If you've been wanting or praying for Activision to die off, you can stop now. Activision knows what you want, and it's gonna give it to you.
I am! Err...I should say, I was. The over saturation dimmed my enthusiasm for the whole series a few years back.
At least Call of Duty is still pretty fantastic.
Yeah, When things got to GH: Warriors of Rock, you knew the franchise was going, going.
It's a pity. If Activision had have stuck to one, basic release, updated through DLC if necessary, and focused on creating an awesome iTunes-like experience for everyone, the GH franchise could have survived for a very long time, I feel.
