@Ralizah That sounds a bit too simple and bare, like a multiplayer-only game. When I think of great FPS I think of the Metroid Prime Trilogy, puzzles, secrets, and set pieces like the sky rails and elevator fight with Dark Samus. In terms of FPS without elements of other genres Halo 2 and 3 come to mind. Moments like the scarab fights and drop ships latching onto the hull of the human ships and spawning troops. I would always play those games in co-op and both play the scenarios and watch the cutscenes with my dad. I know for a fact he would have been bored stiff if it was all just fast-paced shooting.
It doesn't surprise me at all tbh. The original Doom is literally one of the most popular games out there. At least in the genre, arguably in all of gaming. It's been on Nintendo in the past as well. There is a built-in audience the exact same way there is for Tetris or Minecraft.
To add to that, Modern Warfare and Goldeneye both did pretty well on Wii. Which also happen to be universally known FPS games, one of which also was a nostalgic remake.
I remember one of my favorite things about Wolfenstein The New Order, what is the dual wielding mechanic. I love how you can have a gun in each hand and you can mix and match however you like. And then there's those really big heavy machine guns that you can pick up and it takes two hands to wield but they are seriously awesome.
And I love how it's such a story focused FPS. A perfect fit for Nintendo if you ask me. The multiplayer only FPS games which lack any kind of real narrative... those aren't quite as good a match in my opinion.

Is there continuity between New Order and New Colossus? I have New Order but haven't played it yet. Assuming there is a connection then I'd like to have played NO first. This game looks fantastic and so far as I can remember is only competing with Kirby currently for my 2018 monies.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

I'm not sure I want to watch as it will give me unrealistic expections for the Switch version. I'll just watch those videos when they pop up next year.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
This was the #1 highlight for me in that last direct! Day one buy, for sure!
