Topic: Anyone else feeling that the Switch honeymoon phase is over?

I bought the Switch and am loving Zelda and Snipperclips (which I bought to play with my gf), but am almost done with Zelda and can't think of much more coming out in the near future that I'm super excited about. I already own Mario Kart 8 and the DLC for Wii U, and generally when I have friends over for gaming we play Smash, so I'm not sure how much mileage I'd get out of the new battle mode. In addition, footage from Arms and Splatoon 2 have left me feeling a little underwhelmed.

Anyone else feeling this way? Anyone have good recommendations for games to keep the momentum going? Kind of curious about "I am Setsuna." I love RPGs and the ones coming for Switch seem to be so far out in the future.

Lets be realistic here! The switch will not get as many games as we would hope. For me thats ok. Gett8ng 5-10 games that are amazing per year is totally fine and I think the switch will deliver. I taker botw over anything other consoles can offer....

@Andrzej777 I think that the Switch will get far more great games than you think. If sales stay strong, it would be foolish for third parties not to start releasing their AAA titles on Switch. Ones that are already well on their way on other platforms could fairly quickly be ported to the Switch to have a simultaneous release with the other platforms. I have all the systems and a very high end gaming computer. I'll be buying pretty much all my multi-plats on the Switch so that I can play them anywhere.

@Amsterdamsters

I know what u mean. But thats not what I am up for. I go for quality over quantity. Mostly first party games for me.

Absolutely not. I'm loving the system with hearth and soul. Can't wait for a lot of games: especially MK8D, Splatoon 2, Xeno 2, DQ11 & Mario Odissey

I'm still having a blast. Just got off the testfire - pretty cool. Still tons of stuff to do in Zelda and stages to finish in Snipperclips.

I may pick up Binding of Isaac this weekend if I can find it in the stores around here - a lot of them are sold out.

And I'm still tossing around the possibilities of I am Setsuna and Has Been Heroes. I want to see some reviews on Heroes.

@Kogorn733 I feel similar. Waiting for Splatoon but not on the hyped level so far. It was kinda expected so i dont really care. I can only tell you this dont buy setsuna. You may like it but for me it was the biggest fail so far on the system. Also had that curious feeling. The game cant be as bad as i always hear. For me it was. If you love repetitivnes grab it.

Try playing another system( if available) for the time being. Yeah patience is THE virtue. Just try not to hate the switch its just getting started.^^

I'm 16 shrines and Ganon away from getting fed up with the lack of games.

But saying that, I know by Christmas they'll be 10-15 solid games to buy, and if Zelda and Mario bring 5-10 million people to the system, I can't believe it'll be completely ignored by publishers.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

LEGO City Undercover is coming the first week of April. Then in May comes Disgaea 5. (My favorite RPG series!) There is also Yooka-Laylee sometime, but there is still no known release date for that. Those are more than enough for me.

I'm on the fence on Splatoon 2 and am not up to paying full price for MK8 again, so I may hold off on those two for now.

I can't wait to play Mario Kart 8 (and Wonder boy) on my Switch. I think that Switch is by far better than Wii U, this alone for me is enough to keep me interested. I am playing Skyrim on my computer and I'm using it as a template for the character I will create when I will have the game on Switch. I just love Switch as a device and there are so many games I can't wait to play on it. In fact I feel like the honeymoon phase has yet to begin.
Wonder boy will be a great appetizer and then the trip will begin with Mario Kart 8

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee

Maybe for you but everyone is different. I do understand what you mean, though.

If you only like the very best games then yes. There are lots of games but not many are AAA like Zelda, Splatoon etc, and most Nintendo fans already done MK8. There are no AAA third party games on the way.

From that point of view I kinda understand you. I only have time for the very best games. Life is too short.

If you are the type that play any old game because it is on the Switch then NO.

My friend and I feel the same way. After playing countless hours of Zelda, the Nintendo Switch seem lacking in games beside NEO GEO games. I got Bomberman R but I'm not an fan of that one player mode and normally we play more in-depth co-op games. We only play Bomberman R when we got like over four people that want to play. We play Snipperclips if my friend bring his Switch over.

So I been going back to PS4 for a bit. I still play Zelda but not as much as I like to. I'm waiting for Splatoon 2 and ARMS here. I was thinking of getting the music game for Nintendo Switch if I don't want to get Fast RMX or Shovel Knight. (I barely play Fast on Wii U and I already owned Shovel Knight for Steam, 3DS, and Wii U.)

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

Hopefully some surprise 3rd party and indie releases can plug up those holes...

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I'm still having a really good time with it, but that might be partly because I wasn't a Wii U owner and didn't play MK8 and such.

I think the "honeymoon" phase will effectively begin once Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is released and people start taking their Switches to outings for some spontaneous Mario Kart action. I suspect that it will have more of an impact than people realise, and will do a great job of filling in the void until Odyssey and the other big hitters are released later in the year. I anticipate that Mario Kart, Street Fighter and Fifa will get a lot of mileage at social gatherings once they become available.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
