I'm feeling the same way. I played and beat Zelda, Super Bomberman R, and The Binding of Isaac. Now until Mario Kart 8 comes out, I really don't have any other games to play. All the games I mentioned, once you beat the game. There's not much more you can do. Those games are not like GTA V in a sense where online is a big presence, or even things to do randomly in story mode just to pass the time. Also, even though Bomberman R has online and as much as I like the game. After playing online for a while it gets boring and repetitive.

I mean the more I play the console the more I'm getting attached to it and liking it! And yeah they have some games in the near future coming out that I'm interested in. Such as Sonic Mania, Street Fighter, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Mario Kart 8(being able to play Anywhere and lan gaming was a deal breaker for me for this game). But only those 4 games that have been announced, that are coming out in the near future, I'm interested in purchasing. But I don't think those 4 games are going to be enough to hold me. Especially a game like Mario Kart 8. Which will be fun but you don't really beat the game. Plus there's no story mode you, just race.

Even though this is a new console, I think Nintendo dropped the ball on the game lineup at least for the foreseeable future as of now. Unless they add more games into the lineup, that hasn't already announced to come out in the near future.

So I hate to say it, but I think not enough games, and not a strong game lineup is going to be the death of the Nintendo switch! I hope I'm wrong, and I hope Nintendo proves me wrong and adds more games to the game lineup in the foreseeable future to make a stronger, and better game line up! But as of where we stand right now, the game lineup(including all the games announced in the foreseeable future), to me is not good and strong enough!

My honeymoon will start when nintendo announces a new metroid! Till there, I am happy on my PC and Zelda on the WiiU!

Well I guess that about says it for me.

Well, I suppose i can add that if nintendo wants to continue in its current federation forces path of forgetting what metroids about... Then they can forget about me.

But if they decide to build upon breath of the wilds intrinsic design renaissance, then lets honeymoon it up.

World of Goo, Little Inferno and Human Resource Machine are well worth a play. Grab the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo off the Japan eshop, it's a good demo, been playing it all week. I have The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+ as the replayability of that game is insane and well worth the money and offers a great challenge. Zelda and Isaac will keep me busy until end of April when MK8D, Lego City Undercover (surprisingly good), Puyo Puyo Tetris, Has Been Heroes and Shakedown Hawaii release. Splatoon 2 is a very strong title, the testfire demo was a blast but the release for that game seems so faaaaaar away.

I only got mine last weekend so I'm right in the honeymoon period, and I can't see that ending with Mario Kart 8 around the corner.

That said I skipped the Wii U, and bought a Switch early even though I was planning to hold off until more games were out because of how hyped I was. So I'm still in a bubble.

And when some quarters complain about early adopters getting a beta version of the console or whatever, that just reminds me of when I got my 3ds at launch. As well as the new games it's exciting experiencing all the features as they are incrementally added. Be that the browser, Netflix, and especially the VC. If the Switch has a similar lull (which I doubt) then that's fine too if I get a similar reward to the awesome GBA VC games I still play now.

Maybe in the summer things might slow for me, but the timing of rolling out the VC and whether Nintendo stick again to drip feeding the back catalogue is key for me.

Honestly? It's the only gaming device I have that can deliver that level of visuals when I'm not at home. That alone keeps surprising me. Sure I can play something on my PC from my huge backlog of Steam games. And I do have a Wii U so Splatoon, Mario Kart 8 and some of these indie games are not new to me. But none of those games are portable.

Depends on how quickly you burn through titles. As a working stiff with other commitments, Zelda will honestly last me a while. Plus, I play a lot of Hearthstone every month so it's not like the Switch is my only outlet for gaming either.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Shovel Knight should get me through the summer I think. I'm kinda interested in Street Fighter 2, though I'll probably wait to see if there's any active online community that forms for that. Arms is also a wait-and-see title (though I will likely only choose one or the other). Not interested at all in Splatoon 2. I'd rather see a more traditional shooter make its way to the Switch.

A lot of great indie titles though. May pick up a handful, but I really don't feel like I need 10+ games before Mario Odyssey comes out in December.

i'm surprised no one has mentioned xenoblade. xenoblade chronicles is one of my favourite games, and I think it's going to be incredible. Monolith helped Nintendo make the open world in zelda, and with xenoblade 2 it's their own full priority work. i was playing through chronicles on the 3ds (the prequel to the switch game) until i got caught up in botw.

@Reignmaker i want blizzard to put hearthstone on the switch.

I hope for good 3rd party exclusives. I dont really remember anything good besides zombie u and Undercover on the u.
But the wii had some great must haves for me. Sky crawlers, Muramasa and Fragile Dreams.
And i think no one really believes that Xenoblade 2 will release this year.

Honeymoon phase: Still playing every night and sometimes when you can sneak it in during the day. You naughty Switch!

Old married couple phase: Switch is in with the kids hoping it doesn't get touched again for a long time after they have been playing with it all day while I am at work.

@Andrzej777 I think that the Switch will get far more great games than you think. If sales stay strong, it would be foolish for third parties not to start releasing their AAA titles on Switch. Ones that are already well on their way on other platforms could fairly quickly be ported to the Switch to have a simultaneous release with the other platforms. I have all the systems and a very high end gaming computer. I'll be buying pretty much all my multi-plats on the Switch so that I can play them anywhere.

ive been saying the same thing its like have a ps3 in my pocket ill take the lesser graphics to have the ability to play wherever and whenever i want. plus splatoon 2 is a blast like the 1st one, and Mario Kart is the Deluxe version and being able to play online wherever i am(wifi tethering ftw)

If you keep the magic alive the honeymoon should never end. I've just bought my Switch a box of chocolates and some Prosecco and we are going to jump into bed for some late night fun. Might even take my socks off!

@Bigj0110 I highly doubt you've beat Zelda and Binding of Isaac to be honest, at the very least I doubt you unlocked everything in Isaac (items, characters, endings, etc.), which is kind of the whole end goal of the game. For Zelda I guess you can say you've beat the game once you've finished the main story line though, but unless you've been playing on the Switch non-stop, I doubt you truly beat Isaac. If you're saying you've beat Zelda 100% and Isaac 100% (since you say there's nothing else to do in those games for you), I think you need a break from gaming anyway.

About the topic of there not being enough games; I do agree to an extend. While right now the amount of announced games coming this year is kinda lacklustre, I'm pretty sure at E3 we'll get a bunch more announcements. I for one can't wait for Animal Crossing on the Switch!

Honeymoon phase? ..my Switch and I are barely beyond 'first base'!

I initially treated it much as I do any other console - perma-docked in to my TV's HDMI input! I had the latest home console Zelda game - so I did what I always do: I popped it in, kicked back on the sofa, controller in hand - and just played...it felt amazing! ..the controller (Grip) took a bit of getting used to - probably because BotW has a rather steep learning curve: 18 buttons, 2 control sticks + occasional motion controls thrown in for good measure - but I soon got a hang of it and wiled away several hours in the games vast, majestic world!

..finally, sensing that my girlfriend had probably seen quite enough of Zelda on the TV for one day(!), I put the controller down and we watched a bit of TV for the rest of the evening! ..similar story the next day ..and the next - much like it has been any time I've got myself a new game/toy in the past few years!

..then it dawned on me - I can play in handheld! That might sound odd, but it took me a while to adjust to the Switch being a Switch - I just wasn't used to a games console being this versatile! ..my girlfriend could watch TV - and I could get my Zelda fix - simultaneously! Wow!

..then I discovered the benefits of sleep mode - if I'm sitting and having a coffee, or I just have 10 minutes to kill, I can grab my Switch out of the dock, quickly hop in to my suspended Zelda save and cook a few meals! ..then pop it back in sleep mode and get on with doing whatever I need to be getting on with!

..then I downloaded the Snipperclips Demo so that my girlfriend and I could try out the Joy-Con as individual controllers - and, wouldn't you know, they were surprisingly good! My girlfriend, a more casual gamer, really appreciated how easy it was to pick-up-and-play with them - there's a control stick, up, down, left, right and a couple of shoulder buttons - easy, simple, accessible...you can just get right on with enjoying the game you're playing!

We've never known contollers like them:

  • when combined, they form to make a complex, modern controller
  • when split they feel like you're each holding a classic, simple NES-like controller with a modern twist
  • motion controls mean that they can be ultra-accessible Wii Remote-like controllers

..all in one package - incredible!

..then we tried it out in tabletop mode - again, another success!

In my experience so far, I'm finding that the more time I spend with my Switch - and the more I get used to having it around - the more it just seems to 'fit' It's flexible, which in turn means that it fits seamlessly in to your every day life - you truly can play how, where and when you want! ..in a strange way, it feels like I spend more time than I used to playing games - but I also have more time on my hands to do other things - and it's all about how convenient the thing is as a gaming device!

Sure, maybe it could do with a few more games - but it's only been out for a few weeks and I think that there's a pretty solid selection to be getting on with for now - the library will only continue to expand from here I'm sure we'll see more reveals at E3 than the pessimists are predicting - if we even get half of the games that the optimists are predicting we'll end up with a pretty robust selection by the end of Q4!

TL;DR: All in all, it's safe to say that I am very much still totally, totally in love with it - and loving it more and more each day!

@Jhena I've heard no one say they don't think it's coming out. Maybe it won't, and if it needs more time I'm fine with that. Maybe it'll just be a Japan release in 2017... I think there's going to be a ton of games detailed at E3

Not for me. I'm 50+ hours into BOTW and feel like I'm just getting started. Fast RMX covers me for a change of pace and multiplayer with my daughter, and Bomberman R is a silly alternative when we don't want to race. I'm planning to get Binding of Isaac as soon as Zelda has run its course, and soon Disgaea 5, MK and of course Splatoon whenever it comes.

I can see how things might be different if you played all these games on Wii U or if you already finished Zelda. But for me there are plenty of shiny things to discover here. The honeymoon is in full swing!

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

Honestly I feel like the hype is indeed dying down since we don't have rumors and announcements as frequently as we did for the past 4-6 months, but the console itself isn't losing my interest. Now that i've cleared most of Zelda, I've grabbed Shovel Knight and I am Setsuna and they are holding my attention. After that, I'll be grabbing DragonQuest Heroes in April, Disgaea in May, then E3 in June.

@derrin Yeah well you can see it as no ONE (like in myself) really beleaves it if it suits you. Its just that i think this year is pretty packed with Nintendo exclusives. And the least Xenoblade aint even 2 years old in the west. But I dont know if Monolith doabled their Team before X.
