I was just wondering why topics get locked, so will somebody tell me? Also, please don't lock this one.

different reasons. they're redundant, they're in danger of becoming nasty, they've gone hopelessly off topic, they violate certain rules, or there was no point to the thread to begin with and it's just taking up space on the website. those are the most common reasons.

They're usually inapropriate or break the rules of conduct, which I won't bother to link.

Usually for the reasons listed - going off-topic, descending into needlessly vitriolic or abrasive posting, duplicating content, all sorts of stuff. It's also a commonly accepted piece of necessary forum upkeep.
I am not ignoring you. I just do not post much.

If you ever go on a non-moderated forum you'll see how important locking/deleting threads can be.

Because, some topics just get out of hand sometimes. Other times, I bet it is for fun. I bet this topic will be locked.

Yeah, some times I can see a topic should get locked as people are getting a bit silly / personal... There are limits to communication in forums so moderation can really improve how they function.

Yeah, the guys explained it.
The only time my threads locked down: once where I locked my own before locking became exclusive to mods and a duplication (TBD locked it Thought I wouldn't be a casualty )

Speaking in the forums is like being in a world full of moderation. The reasons topics are locked are to keep the peace, as well as the reasons others listed.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
