It appears that your number is the order out of all the users in which you signed up for NL, hence why Ant is #1. If you want to find out who is a certain number, just replace the number that pops up when you try to quote someone with the number you want to find.

Hey, you can see everyone's number. Stop the browser from loading everyone's avatars; instead of their username in lowercase, you'll see their number.
Or, number 23348, (if you're using mozilla at least) right click the avatar and select "View Image Info" and the highlighted image will tell you the corresponding number. I'm the 9874th user on this site.
