Why didn't I start this fan club!? I join of course. : P Anyway... I demand all of you buy Dragon Quest V! It is my my favorite Square-enix game so far.

Just for the record, I actually really liked FFXIII. Yes it was linear, but that linearity kept the focus on the story, which in my mind was brilliantly written with excellent characters whom actually evolve as the story progresses. I also loved the futuristic-yet-still-mystical setting. It was the combat I never took a liking to. It was just too fast-paced, and often came down to finding cheap techniques and exploiting them
I feel the same way, while people complain about the game being mostly corridors and cutscenes, which of course it is, I really think people would of been able to enjoy it more if the battle system was much better, with a mostly linear game it would of helped to have a more deeper battle system where you felt more in control, also customization was very weak.
if you ask me, FF12's only flaw besides its bland color scheme was simply the fact that it wasn't a Final Fantasy game
I experienced a few more flaws than that. The combat was really weak, and bosses were the worst for dragging things out. It sure didn't help that the dungeons were too long and the story was sparse. I was also glad to find out I wasn't the only one who thought the characters were laughably familiar.

Again, I never experienced those problems, or at least I didn't see them as such.
Digitaloggery 3DS FC: Otaku1 WiiU: 013017970991 Nintendo of Japan niconico community is full of kawaii! Must finish my backlagg or at least get close this year W...
the chrono trigger team! it had ff and dq's creator. and it's the best squeenix game imo
As much as I like Tomb Raider Legend, I'd say the best Squeenix game is Dragon Quest 8. It's filled with an obscene amount of humor--bosses like Khalamari and characters like Prince Charmles are just beyond great.

I hope we find out more about DQX at E3! I hope for online play similar to DQIX's multiplayer.
They've waited too long, it would be better for them to port this new DQ to the next Nintendo system. Games that come out at the tail end of a system's life cycle usually sell badly.

Yet, strangely, DQ VII came out really late (in the US) in the PS1's lifecycle, and DQ VIII came out in 2005, which (barring the Sports franchises and stuff still making PS2 versions) was right before the other next-gens came out. This move has always confused me....but come to think of it, DQ 4 was a NES-was-almost-dead release, as was DQ 6 for Super Famicom. DQ 9 was last year on DS, under a year before the 3DS came out. Maybe Square Enix has some magic late-game console agenda with DQ that mere mortals could never hope to understand?
Whatever. I'll be buying it, systems-be-damned.

Agreed.
