Topic: How old is your computer?

Mine's 5-6 years old, and hardly up to snuff nowadays. With a graphics card upgrade it can run Tiberium Wars 3 and some other 2007-08 games, with a little lag here and there of course. I can't play the latest PC games, which is why Nintendo invented the Wii, so I wouldn't have to get a new computer every year to play new games.
Do you have an up-to-date computer or an old dusty one like me?

I just got a new Sony VAIO laptop last fall, after my previous computer's motherboard exploded (seriously). That one was an HP desktop, and also about 6 years old or so at the time of death.

Mine's 2 or 3 years old. Still got some gusto to it, and it can run most games out there. Hopefully I can go a little longer before I get a new one.

I have an awful Acer Aspire 4920G laptop that can't run most computer games and crashes randomly. Man, do I need a new and better laptop.

I've got a 2007 MacBook. It works great for anything that isn't too graphic intensive, so my gaming on it tends to be older PC games through Bootcamp (and now Torchlight, which runs with a little slowdown but still looks good and plays fine). I'd like to upgrade, but considering how well it performs otherwise I can't justify replacing it quite yet. Probably still has a few good years left in it before I'd even need to think about that too.

I just built a custom gaming computer about 3 months ago and it's a sight to behold. It can run Portal maxed out with 2 different portal chains at a solid 60 FPS. I like to refer to it as my "Mini Beast". :3

Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar.

my current laptop is about a year and a half old. the one i had before it held out for about seven years before it spontaneously began to suffer from an apparently rather common VAIO complaint -- something about the system memory no longer meeting its contacts due to heat warping, but i couldn't get the fix to work, and it was old anyway. i still miss that thing (and Windows XP... )

My current computer's only 1.5 years old. Runs like a champ and love it, can run even today's games really fine.

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit(so wished I could get Windows 7 though, but can't afford it)
Intel E8400 3.0ghz dual core
4gb ram
250gb hd x2
G-Force 9800gt 512mb
dvd-rw / cd-rw drive
Onboard sound(Eh, it's performing better than I thought it would compared with having a actual sound card, so I'm happy with it)

I miss XP too (though i still have it on my work computer), but 7 really is pretty sweet, surprisingly enough.

I bought my computer (used) for a measly $10 nearly 4.5 years ago. It was being sold at a business clear-out, where this late 1990s powerhouse was no longer up to the task. I threw some spare RAM in to keep things moving, did a fresh install of XP, and added a working DVD drive from another PC the same business was throwing away. Since then my computer handled everything I've needed it to -- work, email, and surfing the web.

Even though this little PC is still chugging along, it's going to be replaced by a new one in the next couple of weeks. This will be the first time in my life that I've actually bought a brand new computer.

HP Pavilion Series, but with some major upgrades

  • 524 Intel Pentium 4 Processor (3.05GHZ) (Hyper Threading Based) [I call it the dual core of it's time]
  • 2GB Ram
  • HIS ATI Radeon HD 4830 512MB PCI-Express 2.0
  • OS: Windows Seven Ultimate 32bit Edition

It's an old bugger, but it gets the job done!

I'm using my family's E-machine which is like 2 years, and it keeps getting a blue screen which we don't know how to fix... help? My family puts a bunch of crap on here(including me sometimes) By the way it runs Vista, but I don't know that much about computers.

SpentAllMyTokens

1.5 year old MacBook. No complaints yet. I don't really use it for gaming, but portal is free on steam right now, so I'm downloading it right now to give it a try.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I've got two laptops that I purchased last December. They're pretty sweet. I've got another laptop that's about 3 years old and a self-build desktop that is around 5-6 years old but it's still going strong and does what I need it to do.
