Ever played a game that was supposed to be AWESOME, but the fact that it was way too hard or too easy ruined it?

For me, it would be the following.

TOO EASY:

Pokepark Wii: Currently the WORST wii game I have ever played (Counting Shovelware!), every single battle is horribly easy, the tasks are boring and failing something prompts you to try again, even on the final tasks.

Sonic R: Fun in Multiplay, but too easy otherwise unless you are tails doll.

TOO HARD:

Double Dragon III NES: Not even a friend can save Bimmy.
Blaster Master NES: Add limited lives and continues, a stupid americanization and you got one of the worst Americanizations in NES history. Music and gameplay still rocks though, but not like in the Famicom version.

What are your games you can't stand due to their difficulty?

I always thought high difficulty made games even more fun, the challenge is what I play for, thus is why my favorite Zelda boss is Gyorg.

NES games are hard.
Today games are easy.

That pretty much sum it up.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I kinda look heavily into the games I buy, to see if they match my personal preferences. I have a few too easy ones, but their names escape me.
But one I can remember, is sonic generations. Far too short and easy. >.<

Rhythm Thief for me.
I mean don't get me wrong I LOVE The game.
...but. Trying to get an A on all the mini games is a pain and really difficult.
I mean to get an A you had to beat your OLD high score AND get an A.
in the story I just got B's and I was like okay I'm fine with that.
now that I have to get A's I'm really upset and it makes me want to pull my hair out.

Gyorg is the easiest boss in MM for me. But that's because I use Zora link. I dare someone to beat him as Goron link without falling into the water.

I used to ofen abuse Game Genie and Action Replay when I was a kid. But even with infinite lives, infinite energy etc... I still couldn't beat some games.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

@TDK I don't think you can damage him when he jumps, so you can't hurt him without has as a goron. But once you get the pattern of dodging down, he is relatively easy. :3

Pretty much every Kirby game is too easy to the point of being boring, but I think that's more of a problem of the games not making the levels exciting despite the easiness than anything else.

Castlevania III was way too hard, but I think it's just because it's cheap instead of requiring Genuine skill. The last level asside, it's actually not that bad once you know what's coming.

It's really not that bad. Only takes a few tries, really, and this is coming from someone who sucks at platformers. It's far easier than Metroid or Mega Man, or Castlevania, that's for sure.

Can't really think of any games I've played that were ruined by difficulty...I mean you can't even die in Epic Yarn, but it still was fun. Monster Hunter it's like...once you learn the monster, it becomes cakewalk for you. Sooo....yeah.

So this would be a game you ruined for yourself by picking the hardest difficulty? Gotcha.

Nope it's not ruined, I'm still going for it. I'm never giving up! (except I haven't touched it in months) I'll pick it up again someday must... Be... Awesome...

After playing a bunch of NES games on my 3DS I can say I was turned off by the difficulty of a lot of them. The Zelda games are both difficult to the point of being near unplayable. I beat Metroid, but I honestly don't know how anyone on Earth could beat it without a walkthrough and full map.

I do like hard games that are fair. I have 100% on F-Zero GX and it's one of my favourite games of all time. I just don't want to spend time dying over and over on the same parts while feeling like I'm making no progress at all. That's not my idea of fun.

Life Force. Getting through that game was a nightmare.

I don't think a game being hard makes it good or bad, but if a game is challenging it needs to make me WANT to try again like Mega man or Super Meat Boy.
