Playing MGS 3 on the hardest difficulty without ever playing much MGS before, but I shan't give up
So this would be a game you ruined for yourself by picking the hardest difficulty? Gotcha.
Nope it's not ruined, I'm still going for it. I'm never giving up! (except I haven't touched it in months) I'll pick it up again someday must... Be... Awesome...
Ah, then that would be a mistake on my part. I thought you were indicated that it was "ruined by difficulty."
There's a big difference between a challenging game and a frustrating one. Difficulty can easily be done badly - whether it be too high or too low. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Zelda II. I dont care if you enjoy difficult games - it was frustrating and badly designed in that regard, which is unfortunate because the rest of the game was very promising.

Kirby's Epic Yarn (Too easy)
F-Zero GX
Crash Bandicoot (Poor programing)
Silent Hill 3 (Lack of guidence)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Metroid Prime 2
Kirby's Adventure (I just hate this piece of trash)
Modern Warfare 2
Brink (**** this ****)
Shadow of the Colossus (Tedious, tedious, tedious...)
Rhythm Heaven
Castlevania 64
Blaster Master (Still fun but still.)
Devil May Cry
Super Mario Sunshine
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Poor controls)
Killzone 2
Zelda II is not on my list because that game has a fair difficulty. Most of the people who disagree never came close to beating it.
Just for you. "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." - Freddie Mercury
The most recent game I can think of is Heroes of Ruin, far too easy, that Uber gear you can buy for aubsurd prices isn't even needed to obliterate the final boss.
I'm going to do a no death play on my 3DS without restore points to >:{

i`ll be the first to say NSMB 2 in this thread. it`s far too easy to 100% it.
also i`d like to add the majority of snk`s fighters, most of which aren`t too bad going through the first few fighters, but they soon get very cheap towards the bosses.
Metroid and Zelda. I have no clue where to go without a walk through!
Also, I don't get how the Metroid Prime games are hard. Sure, some of the bosses may be more difficult, but the games are still not that hard to beat..

Exactly? The fact that many people never come close to finishing it is because its difficulty is frustrating and badly designed, not because they've never played difficult games before.
I found Metroid Prime 3 incredibly difficult, I couldn't adapt to the first person view. I kept getting lost, my TV displayed very thing as one mundane very dark color making it impossible to see sometimes. In the end I just quit. I spent 2 hours roaming around this one area looking desperately for a way to progress. It wasn't fun.
Just started Dead Space on PC and it's incredibly easy on normal. My only deaths have been cheap instant death traps that aren't clearly identified. The enemies pose no challenge at all.
Lots of censorship here...
