Topic: Fans Say They Are Giving Up on Nintendo, But do They Really Mean It?

(Apologies for the long thread title)

After the admittedly lackluster Digital Event, several fans have proclaimed that they have given up on Nintendo. Undoubtedly, some of these "fans" were trolls, but there were several honest - to - goodness Nintendo fans that have decided to drop the company.

My question is, do they really mean it? If so, this could be bad news for the game company. Sales for upcoming games would be poorer than usual, with former fans refusing to commit.

What do you think? Have you lost hope? Do you think they will eventually come back, Prodigal-Son- style? If you have lost hope, is there anything Nintendo could do to bring you back?

(Please note, no flaming other people or their opinions, and no excessive bashing of Nintendo. This is not one of those threads.)

Probably not, but I think a lot of people have been put off, Nintendo has just been wasting time making the terrible games they unveiled at E3. If that was seriously all they have for the Wii U then that's incredibly disappointing, and I imagine a lot of people will not be buying the NX at launch (me included) unless there is a proper 3D Mario or Zelda, and plenty more on offer.

I still love my Wii U, it has some great games already, but I just can't defend them anymore.
I hope they deliver with Zelda, on Wii U.

Well I certainly haven't anyway.I'm buying the new 3ds alongside Fire Emblem:Fates when it comes out next year, Paper Jam will be bought and I'll try Federation Force out.

I'll be buying some more games for the Wii U, but I am not thinking about buying new hardware from Nintendo in the next 2 or 3 years.
I want to see how Nx plays out for them this time. They haven't lost me as a consumer yet, but they lost me as an early adopter of their systems.

November will be Fallout 4 time. This summer I'll buy a PS4 because there are many good games now out there (and I never had a PS3 so Uncharted collection, TLOU and other remasters sounds great to me). When the NX will be out, I'll wait some months for sure. Buying a Wii U at day one has not been a good idea...

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.

It's empty over reaction with no substance.

The only real thing it did was prevent some people from picking up a Wii U by not showing it has a long term games in the pipeline (which is a worry for a lot of people) and a lack of near future big titles.

Hopefully not. It's just this Wii U and this E3. They'll get over it by the time the NX rolls around even if they say that Nintendo's stupid and that Sony and Microsoft are way better (even if they've had E3s like this in the past too).

I doubt it. I find it hard to believe someone who played Nintendo games since the 90s and played through the last 3 gen consoles (N64, Gamecube, & Wii) would now find that this is the bullet in the head. Pretty much there have been worse scenarios in the past to give them and myself a better reason to quit.

If its three things I learned is you can't please everyone, people, mainly the media and internet will mostly weight in and react to the negative news, comments, etc. than the positive, and everything is flawed no matter how perfect we want it to be with the ups and downs. That and more is what I come to terms with to keep a rational mind.

The Xbox One isn't dead, so I doubt one disappointing E3 is gonna change anything for Nintendo.

Giving up on Nintendo? No, I will still continue to use my Wii U and I will get XBX. Now, moving a majority of my future video game dollars over to Playstation? Yes.

I think the whole matter got blown up far too much by some people. The Event was underwhelming but treehouse showed the games much better. What really disgusted me was the reaction to Federation Force. I'm a die hard Metroid fan and would have loved to get a Prime game for Wii U but I think the game looks fun and Next Level Games produce great games. And yet some self righteous freaks start a petition to can the game? I mean let's be realistic. A new Prime Game would cost several millions to develop-with no chance to be a financial success. They simply have to stay profitable so they develop some smaller games and get attacked for this. We shouldn't forget that they financed W101, Bayonetta 1+2, Devils Third and Xenoblade X which weren't / won't be profitable for them but are important for a diverse lineup.

How much do you think Star Fox Zero will cost? More or less than a Prime game? Do you think it will be a financial success that Prime would not be?

Games shouldn't be made at all because they cost money!!!

I'm quite shure that a new MP would cost more than SF. The development time alone points to that. As the MP producer said they would need at least 3 years to develop it. SF around one and a half to two years.
@arronishere Yeah that's exacly what I said-not.

If it's soley about profits then should just go with mobile games...oh wait.

You seriously can't release a console without big games which of course cost money and in any case the Metroid Prime games sold millions and even gave a (small) boost to NGC sales.

Fallout 4 will be another purchase choice of mine.I'd love it if an expanded version of Fallout Shelter was on 3ds.

They always say that. They said it all last gen when Nintendo went for the casualz. They're saying it now because of the poor e3 showing and a potential shift in focus to the NX (what ever that may be). I've even seen people say they'd leave Nintendo if they add an achievement system. And all this was just from Nintendo Life. It's hard to take any of it seriously.
