You know, I've been wanting to get back into cartoons for a while, but I keep getting distracted. But just from what little I saw of Star vs. the Forces of Evil, I NEED TO. Because based on a minute of clips, that is the best thing in the universe. A MINUTE.

I realize Gravity Falls will need to take priority, but I've never been convinced I need to watch a show that quickly.

In terms of cartoons, Steven Universe and Rick and Morty are the best imo.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Isn't it on Netflix? Do you have Netflix?

It's not on anymore.

From thread about cartoon Genres

@TheMisterManGuy
Okay firs thing is first.....just stop thinking about the topic in question.

1. In Japan they consider Manga to be Comics, Graffiti, Cartoons, etc. In Japan they also class these things under the same roof.

2. In the west however they divide these genres by what is in your wallet. An person might go to an art event to see an man make an painting by shooting out of his....while another person might make more money and use it to watch an play with an elderly woman ( Take Maddame foster ) naked on stage. Like people into the arts might say comic-book while another might say "graphic-novel".

3. The truth is that many of fictional elements of creativity in the west is really just theater ( as in "Romeo and Juliet" or "Dog Sees God" ). In theater their exists only two Tragedy and Comedy. This is from the Greecian ( Tragedy ) and Roman ( Comedy ) periods. There is also various elements from India, China, Japan, as well as Hawaii. ( I am talking about theater in general. This extends into the Elizabethan era AKA the Steam Punk/Industrial era until film was introduced into the United States as well as other parts of the world. Sooooooooo after that we had billions of other "Genres" introduced into this world that all falls under DRAMA. DRAMA IS THE CENTRAL GROUND FOR ALL GENRES IN GENERAL.

As for myself this is how I classify fictional genre.
For males ((Pornography, s-exploitation, censored s-exploitation ---Then we hit DRAMA ))
For females
((Romance Novel, Soap for big girls, Soap for little girls ---Then we hit DRAMA )) Basically in my world I divide fiction for men and women. While both can enjoy each other works. And yes their are plenty of Soap for men floating out there.

Back in the 1980's they created Indian Jones, which was dubbed the "First action film for children under the PG13". Basically the fictional industry was entirely s-exploitation during the 1970's and early 1980's and everybody knows we can't show certain things to children. During the 1980's we had "Regans Looking back speech" was another away of saying "We need to white wash America". For America at least we had Ralph Bakshi. THE LAST REAL ORIGINAL ANIMATOR OF OUR TIMES. During the 1970's everybody was challenging censorship and with the invention of VHS this was bypassed. Back then we had magazines we could order anything you could dream of or wanted through them. The point taken is that everything media had fallen into s-exploitation because the media wanted to show everything uncensored ( as it should be ).

The 1980s ( commercial 80's ) brought many children works to light because this was the continuation of the "Born again Christian Generation" where we also had the Christian Era ( BAG1975-2001). AKA ( Super 80's ) because of the maintained peace.

By maintained peace I meant to say. If you wanted something that was not kosher ( funny 1% talk ) you would go to the magazine. Imagine if everybody had placed an order for Castlevania Dreamcast from magazines and the seller would have notified Konami about the pre-orders. Maybe we would have had that one game on Dreamcast. Or if you wanted to make something iffi or unsuitable for certain audience you would sell them via VHS tapes, or magazines, from market to market like an water seller. Even the internet was like that once upon an time, but now it is like an traffic jam of close-minded people.

With the internet today we have created an hen house full of Ned Flanders.
While that character trait is positive it also violates our privacy and independence. Take Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and Flicker. They use your privacy against you.

I know I went off topic but I hope I given you my view of genre in cartoons. Also another a cartoon in the west is merely an image to get an point across. Comic strips created Cartoons that told stories which usually had an point which ended with an laugh ( or other emotions ). Animated cartoons basically do the same exact thing but never really tells an linear story. Animations are stories no different then an comic.

Take "Adventures of Sonic the hedghog" and "Super Mario Super Show" they have no real beginning or ending, each scene was it's own strip, and some panels/frames made an point across.

The PowerPuff girls is an standard cartoon. PP saves the day before bedtime. That is basically the same thing in every episode, and as an cartoon, it does it's job of giving both ADULTXXX and CHILDRENOOO
their entertainment factors that are both hilarious and entertaining. Adults like to laugh because they have short attention spans while children likes to dream and be imaginative.

Adventure Time ( which is just an Adaption of Adventure Island/Wonder Boy ) does an excellent job of making something good for both adults and children alike.

DuckTales falls into the "furies" category where they had mature themes but never could illustrate or animate them to children. Basically the same episode over and over again. Uncle Scroge ( Richie Richie ) and his gang. Speaking of gangs ( which just an slang word for group ) we had many animated cartoons that featured such youth groups ( as most young people are that way ( as is the only real way to make friends )). As everybody had their favorites. We think these are characters but they are nothing but drawings made up to suit the current trends. Take "Bleach" or even "Free" ( the one about the swimmers ).

I will admit I hate Sbob a lot because of the drawings but as an adult I look back at it and I am able to laugh. Maybe I am too slow of an person.

A couple of the toons you have mentioned ( semi-serious ) are really about growing up. So they try to be as much PG-13 as possible. Same thing as PPG or Sponge-bob.

Another thing to realize that each nation censors what they air on television/radio ( yes radio is real ) and including cable. What we can't see on TV, we see on cable, and what we can't see on cable we see on VHS/VCD, what we can't see on VCD/VHS we see on the internet. That is the current brake down of media and censorship.

What you see on television is extremely censored and is meant for five year old mindset. Or for the United States the mind-set of an saint ( or what is deemed an saint ). Prime-Time television abuses censorship by making DRAMA that is extremely more violating the ears then to the sight itself. Some of the things in Prime-Time television are far more outrageous then anything seen in an x-rated movie. Even some films go to extremes with lack of disrespect and make things SEEM FAR MORE WORST THEN THEY REALLY ARE.

If an person is religious sporty, social-minded, or lawful minded chances are you do not even own an television, or computer.

I hope that answers your question.

The Kickstarter ended awhile ago but I thought I'd share the news since there hasn't been much talk about this project. LeSean Thomas who worked on The Boondocks and Black Dynamite made a Kickstarter to create a short animated pilot for Canon Busters, an old comic. It looks awesome and production has apparently begin. Very excited for this.

Kickstarter is for the little people like you or me, so that we can be able to start or promote our projects that otherwise would not be able to gain any funding at all. These BIG WIGS are using Kickstarter to gain attention they do not need to give BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER BUYING THINGS THE NORMAL WAY. THEY ARE GETTING MORE ATTENTION ON KICKSTARTER ALONE THEN CONVENTIONAL TELEVISION.

The same thing happen to Miramax with "Clerks" and B-movies. Eventually all studios started to make B-quality movies to appease movie goers and we are left with an bunch of B-movies that brought in more cash because of publication.

I do not like when these Fake-Kickstarters come out and people are like Omgsh. Also Peter Chung could fall of the face of the earth for all I care. He went to Korea of all places to recruit all kinds of potential for animation to make "Reign The Conquer" but the person.......himself had to go to Korea and not America at all. I will grant him for "Shadow2040" and "Aeon Flux" but honestly this man ruined America chance at being noticed.

Again all of these people are not art animation students as with the
"Project A-ko" ( because that was the original purpose ) or even students in their finals for the "Animatrix" project. This is just another funding of Japanese or even Korean animation for people to get robbed of their gold to somebody who does not even needs it.

Again abusing kickstarter to fund something that does not need the advertisement of Kickstarter. Next auwful we need is Milrey Sirus promoting
her crap on KickStarter. That is where this stuff is going. It is going to grow and grow until it becomes closed off to the little people ( like us ) who really needs funding.

Cannon Busters is from 2005................that is not old ( maybe if your an five year old that might be old ). When we think of old we think of anything before WW2. Because the "Lost Era" was so terrible it took so many lives, including the human experimentation, cancel nuclear strike on Britain, and the bombing of Japan, as well as the goofy insanity of sports and advertisement of the time.

Things from 1950-20XX are not old, because we are still using the same products and same inventions. The only people who have the right to consider those things old are people who are observant of religious practices of not owning certain objects. That is where the word old comes from.

That's from the guy who made Chowder, but looks more enjoyable (or at least tolerable) than Chowder to me. Good to know it exists.

Trying to clear up the rants, I enjoyed seeing the Rick and Morty Simpsons couch gag. Even though I'm not a big fan of The Simpsons, the couch gag was MUCH better AND funnier than that FG crossover.

Funny you should mention that. I actually watched the couch gag a couple days ago because a friend told me about it. The next day, I watched the entire first season of Rick and Morty. Now I just gotta wait for season 2...this is taking too long.

Sonic Boom.......is broken.

The episode plots have little to no.....main story. Its never clear as to what the main objective is. The ending in each episode differs differently then how the episode is suppose to end most of the time. None of the character's personalities except Eggman are expressed and when they are, its for brief periods.

Also, what about Shadow and Metal Sonic? Don't they matter since after all, they made appearance in the games? Isn't what the show is about? Basing it into the games? The world is unbelievable, there's lack of origins and worst of all, when there are moments where a parallel universe can be expressed to develop the suspense, its executed badly. Like there's one episode where there are two characters of parallel worlds but have the same design with the only difference being the personalities. If they used the original designs for the episode, that would work.

Actually, why couldn't they use the originals? Its not like they have different attitudes and I think sticks lack of involvement would be amazing.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

@Artwark: It's strictly a comedy show, it doesn't mean to have a continuity or anything and when it does refer to previous episodes it's usually just for a joke, and honestly the show does that really well, in the current state of cartoons where the target audience now seems to be the general population of Tumblr it's nice to see something that's simple but effective. The games I'm pretty sure have been wiped from the show's general canon (The only mention of the games is that Eggman has kept Lyric's robo controlling thing) as even they think it sucks and metal sonic/shadow honestly contributed nothing to the game anyway and were humourless as hell so I can see why they were taken out.

Also Sonic, Amy and Knuckles and Eggman all have different personalities (Sonic is a bit more laid back in the show, Amy is the serious one of the bunch and hardly ever shows any feelings towards sonic, Knuckles is pretty dumb and Eggman is not really that evil) and finally ever since they stopped setting the games on Mobius the games have never explained Sonic or his friends, in fact Sonic Boom is the only time that Sonic lives in a World full of Animal People, so there's not really any question as to what giant talking hedgehogs and foxes are doing on normal earth.

@Solatorobo: You don't understand. The episodes don't have to be cannon over the others. But the entire plot of the episode itself is so off. There is one episode about Eggman being able to reverse time but the episode neither looks like ending in a cliffhangar or having things go back to normal. It expects you to know the ending when it shows and yet the ending of each episode is either bland or confusing.

All of the shows that Sonic made his debut in had him staying in islands with animals. This makes no difference whatsoever. Also, the animation while superb in most cases is just bland in majority of the places. The lip syncing for the walruses are oddly done, the explosions are a mixture of realism and surrealism which is bad because some explosions have characters which are surreal whereas others are real.

As for personalities, when you watch further of the show, you'll begin to notice that the characters barely express them. The only one who expresses the most is Eggman.
