I like MK7... except for the fact there is no single player race mode. You only have Time Trials, Battle and Grand Prix... what?
Thanks for clearing that up. I really liked Single Race in MKDS, since usually I just wanted to play one track once, then move on to another game. No single race = no buy for me. Damnit, Retro, how'd you miss something so obvious?!
I don't think that was Retro's decision. As I understand it, they only helped out wih graphics and track designs.

I don't know if anyone has expierenced this but here goes. Picture the scenario
Race starts online. Noone but you is driving. Then everyone starts, but your're way ahead of them. You finish the race. You came first. But everyone elses lag means the game thinks your last. Game over.

Don't like the lightning over pits? Tough. Scared of first placed red shell hoarders? Throw a heap of items at them or overtake them with a shell behind you. Think it's rude that people drop banana peels on the finish line? Avoid them. Don't like being knocked around by large characters? Learn to drive with a heavier character. Can't handle the heavy character? Suck it up, learn to drive a heavier character. Don't like Blue shells? Learn to Mario Kart. Don't like rubber band AI? Play with real people. Don't like the game breaking cheats? ... wait for the patch.

Learn to Mario Kart. Keep watching your bottom screen, if someone gets a Blue Shell break and let them on ahead. It usually takes a couple seconds after they get it before they use it. If your far enough ahead just keep racing. Ain't too hard my friend.
For me it's people going out of their way to hit you with the star Show some sportsmanship and just drive past!

With right timing, you can dodge a blue shell with a mushroom .
It's rare I play a full game without getting a disconnection error. Other games seem to be fine, it's just MK7, so I'm pretty sure it's not an issue on my end. This drives me nuts.

It's Mario Kart. Either drop to second before the blue shell is used, try to get second in the blast radius so you don't lose too many places or use a mushroom with the right timing. It's a game of racing AND items. If you wanted just racing you're playing the wrong game.
If you want to play Mario Kart deal with the items and learn to Mario Kart. It's like a game of poker or something, you play the odds and you learn the skills but sometimes the other guy gets a better hand and doesn't mess up. When that happens you don't throw the cards in the air and walk away, you say gg and go in for more.
"Learn to Mario Kart" I cannot describe how awesome that sounds. I don't mind the fire flower, you can dodge that so easy it's ridiculous. I was even right in front of someone spamming it and it never even hit me, had a few close shaves but just drifted past every one of them! I don't mind the blue shell too much now, just brake heavily, let them overtake, big boom, you race to 1st.
I haven't need to brake online though, dam they're so slow online at times, even lapped 3 of them in one game before. COME ON, PRESS THE A BUTTON!!

I think I need to explain this one more time... these AREN'T complaints. They're frustrations that I fully expect every time I play Mario Kart. It wouldn't be Mario Kart without them. Mario Kart is a frustrating game, but it's also one of my favorites.
It's like many board games that involve some luck but also skill. A good player at Risk, for example, will still never be able to win 100% or even 80% of the time against weaker opponents, because there are so many variables. A good Mario Kart player wins a lot, but no one wins all the time. You got Blue Shelled? That's a fact of life, but if you're an excellent player, it was just a single loss amidst plenty of thrilling wins. No reason to wine.

I agree with this 100%. Luck is an integral part of Mario Kart. Want to play a racing game which doesn't involve luck? Mario Kart isn't the game for you. It's as simple as that. By the way, was "wine" an intentional misspelling?
