Hi,
I am 31 year old and a girl...i had back then when i was a kid a Game Boy which i loved. Sometimes i would like to play such games again...so i was thinking of buying a handheld console, a Nintendo of course!
I would like to ask you, what games would you recommend me....and are here maybe girls around this age (or boys)?
Because of the price i am thinking of buying the 2DS...i hope there will be games for it coming out in the future as well
Thank you for your replies!
A typical recommendation for girls would be Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and it's definitely a great game.
However, it would help to know what kind of games you're interested in, just so recommendations don't simply cover the entire 3DS library.
Thank you for the reply, Kaze_Memaryu!
Yeah, i forgot to write sorry, what kind of games i like. Well back then in the early 90s when i played my Game Boy i liked Tetris, i had Kirbys Dream Land which i also liked...all the Mario games
But i am also open for new ones..i just do not really like shooting & fighting games.
I think Mario and Zelda are both pretty timeless, anyone of any gender or age can enjoy them. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a fantastic game, and one very welcoming to newcomers as well.
Also, the 2DS has a Virtual Console service where you can buy older games for about $3-5 each. You may find some of the Game Boy classics you liked when you were a kid on there.
EDIT: Just saw your post about not liking shooting games. Guess that rules out Resident Evil, but you may still enjoy Fantasy Life. It's some light fantasy roleplaying and life simulator. There's also Super Mario 3D Land and Kirby's Triple Deluxe, two very good games from those series.
If I was going to recommend something out of the blue, it would probably be the Phoenix Wright series. The first three games are coming next month in a trilogy set, and Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies is out now (all are download only though, you're out of luck if you want the physical game cartridge). They play sort of like interactive novels, where you play an attorney. You have to gather evidence, speak to witnesses, and present your case in court. The real appeal though is the fantastic characters and writing. It's all so charmingly presented that I think even people who really aren't into text-based games could probably enjoy them.
The same games I would recommend to a guy in his thirties.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Thank you SpookyMeths
I have watched both youtube game links, i think Fantasy Life is cute, the other one a bit too "strong" for me (coz of blood etc).
I have heard a lot about Zelda before, i am curious about it, i will check out that game you recommended.
And i have another question...is it not a stupid idea to buy a 2DS now, when soon (i am in Europe) the new 3DS is coming out..i mean will the old 3DS (and so 2DS) supported with games in the future...or that is going to end soon?
The New 3DS will have some exclusive features and games, but it's not the end of support for the 2DS, plus for someone getting back to handheld games after a long time it's definitly a good idea to start with a cheaper choice, you can always upgrade later if the 3DS gamer in you will get stronger
Regarding the games...
"All Mario games" already puts lots of games on a potential -to buy- list XD
Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros. 2 are the classics, then there are all the sports like tennis and Golf and there is even the RPG Mario&Luigi.
Something new and still in the Mario universe would be Luigi Mansion 2 instead. It's basically Luigi doing the ghost busters, what could go wrong?
For Kirby there is Kirby Triple Deluxe that just came out and also Tetris and puzzle games are covered.
Still another option I would recomand is the eShop. In Nintendo's "app store" there are a lots of worthy and cheap games to download, from tetris-like to platformers, to completly new things to try out without spending too much (which is perfect for test out some new genre XP). As @SpookyMeth already mentioned there is also the option to download some gameboy games if you need to full reload the nostalgia ^_^ (and I also thumbs up his reccomandation on the Phoenix Wright games!).
You're perfectly set with a 2DS. You can play all 3DS (as of now) games with it plus all DS games as well (and the DSs library is HUGE). You might also want to take a look at the Prof. Layton series, they've got charming stories, characters and settings and present you with lots of nice little puzzles along the way. I'd recommend you to read some reviews and watch some let's plays on youtube for games you'd like to check out or are not sure about.

That sounds great that the 2DS support will not end in the near future!
I probably will get the New Super Mario Bros. 2 because the console i want to buy comes with it and i think the whole is for a great price (122 USD). At least here where i love this is the best offer i have found so far!
Some of the games I got are the ones I played back in the day on the Game Boy like Tetris, Super Mario Land 1 and 2, Kirby's Dream Land... A bit expensive for such old games but It's been a joy to replay them after so many years.
Then there are modern versions of Tetris (I have Axis) with many modes and online play, so it's both an old and new experience. I'd also recommend marvel Pinball, great for playing on the go (or at all hours like my wife!).
But since you are getting a dedicated gaming device I'd recommend you some games that takes advantage of the hardware or are exclusive, and my first vote goes for Fantasy Life. You can play however you want, you can gather or craft stuff or go hunting at your own pace. I think you can even avoid the hunting/fighting for the most part, and even if you don't, it's very easy and very, very light (more cute than bloody, well, not bloody at all, don't know how to explain it in english). While not the same, it has some Animal Crossing and some Zelda in it, to name some of the games already mentioned.
And my second vote would be Super Mario 3D Land. If you liked the old Marios, you'll simply love it. It's a perfect flawless 3D platformer (3D here refers to game/level design, as opposed to a "flat" 2D platformer like the old Marios, not to the stereoscopic 3D effect).
I don't know how much being a girl will affect your taste in games, but since you said you don't like shooters, I'll recommend Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pokemon, Tomodachi Life, Super Mario 3D Land, A Link Between Worlds, etc.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
Girls live past 30?
Any way, I have always heard Senran Kagura Burst is great fun for the 3DS, I recommend that game to everyone I meet.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Hi,
I am 31 year old and a girl...i had back then when i was a kid a Game Boy which i loved. Sometimes i would like to play such games again...so i was thinking of buying a handheld console, a Nintendo of course!
my GF is similar in age and gaming experience (ie: played when younger but not at all during the late 90s and 2000s) and the games she loves are:
professor layton
animal crossing (she now hates animal crossing because she didn't notice the low battery light and lost hours worth of play - the next one really needs autosave!)
in general, puzzle games and point-and-click adventure games are her favourite genres. two highlights, which unfortunately don't exist on nintendo consoles, are 'machinarium' and the back to the future series (5 episodes). you can get both on steam for PC, and they'll run on any old PC too.
another favourite non-nintendo game is the mobile game 'color sheep'.
finally, back to nintendo, you might also like to play some of the old classics which you used to back in the day: the old gameboy mario games or the excellent sega 3D remakes, for instance.
My best friend is 31 aswell and she is a huge fan of Professor Layton, Harvest Moon, Mario Kart and the New Super Mario Bros serie.
I recommend you get a 3DS that is compatible with the old DS cartridges because DS had an ocean of games that can appeal to people that are new to games or just getting back to them after a long hiatus.
I personally recommend ZooKeeper because it is as addictive as heroin.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Wow, i am glad i am not the only girl around this age interested in video games
Thank you for all the cool recommendations, it is very nice of you! I became interested now in many games you recommended me! Can`t wait to try them out
animal crossing (she now hates animal crossing because she didn't notice the low battery light and lost hours worth of play - the next one really needs autosave!).
Autosave in Animal Crossing? You'll put Resetti out of a job.
