3D's only bad side is that it drains the batteries too quickly it was a lot fun to play 3DS with the 3Dslider in the max when I was home near the recharger

HD is a must so it's going to happen eventually, 2 joysticks is most likely going to happen since everyone wants that even now I remember that was the main topic when people were speculating about what the new iteration of the 3DS was going to be (before it was revealed to be an XL) but Nintendo can't do it because then everyone else who has a single circle pad 3DS would be screwed. I just hope the next system has a better battery life, a screen that's not so shiny because I can't play my 3DS in well-lit areas. Like @DePapier said 3G is most likely to happen but only if it gets cheap enough(and I mean like really cheap).

I'm gonna need some source with your claims

I think it should be called the Nintendo HDBoy. Still having two screens with the bottom a touchscreen and the top being HD. An XL model at launch would be excellent, but not necessary as I'd still buy it Quite honestly I wouldn't mind if the 3D stayed or goes. I can't think of many games that absolutely require 3D. That kinda of my fantasy a revival of the Boy brand with an HD uplift. The Nintendo HDBoy coming in 2017

I'd prefer it being called GameBoy HD but HDBoy sounds cool the problem is that some people would start complaining about the name being sexist(maaaan those people are really irritating sometimes they go further than fanboys and are less forgiving too. a girl said I was sexist because I preferred the GameBoy name over the DS)

When did they say this? What proof do we have that 3D is a flop? I don't know how can anyone say that with the success the 3DS has seen.

Remember, just because you personally don't like it doesn't mean it was a bad endeavor.

XD ok they didn't say it like that but they did say they were going to focus less on 3D and more about games I remember reading something about this around the time the 3DS XL was coming out which was about the time they stopped advertising the fact that you can play the 3DS without glasses which was the one sure thing they always mentioned about the 3DS during the 1st year of its life. They said they'd make 3D a minor element. As for proof I don't have any on me and I'm too lazy to look and well internet arguments aren't my thing cuz you know everyone always wants to have the last word so you win this round.
EDIT: This is probably the best I can do without trying.

If it weren't for the fact that the 3D emphasizes how much of a dust magnet the top screen is, I would be using the feature quite a bit. I do think that Nintendo should exclude 3D for their next handheld, and focus on making an HD DS not an HD 3DS. Seeing Nintendo develop experiences again for the Nintendo DS isn't going to happen, but I do feel Nintendo failed to really tap into what 2-screen presentation could portray and certainly won't be tapping into that with the 3DS due to its unequal screen sizes. I still want to see these epic 2-screen 2D Metroids and Super Mario Bros. games I continue to daydream about.

I think the next handheld Nintendo system is going to look a lot like the Wii U gamepad. It would have a cheap plastic flap to cover the screen when not in use, which would fold behind the system to get out of the way. You could attach a 3D HD top screen if you want to, which would let you gain access to the DS and 3DS libraries, or hook it up to a TV which would get you access to Wii U games. Otherwise, it would be backwards compatible with everything Nintendo through virtual console. You could also hook up Wii U gamepads to it for multiplayer support on the go which doesn't require two consoles...

HD is obviously going to have to be there. Better graphics is just one of the ways that technology advances. As for the dual screen set-up, I'd hope they keep it. Even if a second screen isn't necessary, it still works great for a map, inventory, or HUD cleanser. It's something unique to Nintendo as well.

Also, a second circle pad integrated into the system would be nice, and I think some memory could be integrated into the system. With that, Nintendo could expand the 3DS to do things like play movies (maybe with some partnerships, like Amazon).

Above all else, though, it should be very competitively priced. It can't be expensive in its nature (like the Vita, with memory cards not being a part of the initial purchase (without bundles) despite being needed for pretty much all games). If something like 3D has to be cut, then it should be cut. Games are what will drive it, and since those will be the focus of the machine, they'll be more expensive then stuff on mobile machines (much like now). To offset the high prices of the games, the machine itself should be rather cheap, like the 3DS and all of Nintendo previous handhelds.

Making stuff run at 30fps instead of 60fps to make the 3D possible is not a trade off I would make.

(I would have been ok with it if they made it so you could run it at the faster framerate if the 3D was disabled.)

New Super Mario Bros 2 needed 60fps just as much as the new Zelda.

The definitive statement on 3DS. Well the even more definitive statement would be "3D is stupid but it has games so no one cares."

The 3DS is a pretty powerful machine, so I don't expect a new Nintendo handheld until 2016 or 2017 or so. The 3DS is basically capable of Xbox 360 games with GCN graphics in 3D.

By the time another Nintendo handheld comes out, it will probably be on par with the best Wii U can do, which is yet TBD. 3D HD, 3G, a second stick, better graphics, and possibly a different touch screen seem likely.
I'd rather have Nintendo opt for Wacom(which is better then what alot of people like to suggest), but that's pretty expensive. Things change in time.

Question: How would you feel if Nintendo keeps the dual screen but they use capacitive touch screen this time around?

I would be pretty disappointed. Like I said, I think they should aim to get Wacom on there.
Resistant touch screens are the cheapest way you can get stylus controls on a device. Capacative screens give multitouch, but get rid of the benefits of resistant screens.
Wacom type screens bring both of those together for better performance in both areas.
That's why the capacitive suggestion is kind of naive, because that would be selling a better option short.
Wacom is expensive as hell, but I'm sure more options will be open at a later time.

EDIT: BTW, I think keeping the DS design is pretty essential.

@SCAR392 @mamp @Il-Fortissimo you all make it seem more complex then it should i really think they should keep the 3d for backwards capability for 3ds but make the newer games not be able to use the 3d. ONE joystick(2 was the reason i sold my psp i hated it for a handheld), and just make it HD btw HDS i think is trade marked by some one else.

@feline2
They aren't going to have 3D only use it for BC. 3D is gonna stay. Every 4K TV will support it, and it's gotten more popular over the years than it was at first.
I think it will be a standard feature in every device eventually.

I'd call them stupid tbh. The resistive screen is better for the set up that the DS/3DS have
