@SCAR392 @mamp @Il-Fortissimo you all make it seem more complex then it should i really think they should keep the 3d for backwards capability for 3ds but make the newer games not be able to use the 3d. ONE joystick(2 was the reason i sold my psp i hated it for a handheld), and just make it HD btw HDS i think is trade marked by some one else.

They aren't going to have 3D only use it for BC. 3D is gonna stay. Every 4K TV will support it, and it's gotten more popular over the years than it was at first.
I think it will be a standard feature in every device eventually.

Question: How would you feel if Nintendo keeps the dual screen but they use capacitive touch screen this time around?

I'd call them stupid tbh. The resistive screen is better for the set up that the DS/3DS have

But @feline2, what exactly what do you have against a second joystick? Another joystick can only do good!

  • Keep the clamshell design.
  • Add HD.
  • Add second circle pad.
  • A better web browser (and better online functionality overall).
  • Keep 3D.

Seriously, I don't get the hate/disdain for 3D. Yes, you should have the option to turn it off if you really want to (for eyestrain, battery issues, or whatever), but why is it considered pointless?

So what if it doesn't enhance gameplay? Guess what, neither does HD. 3D & HD are visual upgrades, which means they make games look prettier, nothing more.

It's true that most games (if not all) don't need the 3D to be played, but answer me this, what is the game that requires HD in order to be played?

Why do people expect 3D to enhance gameplay in order to be of use, when HD isn't expected to do so?

Will they start off with a big screen and then release a more compact version ala gameboy advance or the reverse like the 3DS?
I think the first option as I think it's actually more costly to make a smaller hd screen as it would require a higher ppi density.
The 3d I'm sure will stay as backwards compatibility has been a standard for Nintendo portable hardware.
HD is also practically a given. It would be a very hard sell to have a SD screen in 2016.

The definitive statement on 3DS. Well the even more definitive statement would be "3D is stupid but it has games so no one cares."

Funny how everyone likes pretending their opinion is universal. I play every game on the 3DS in 3D. I love the effect, and, as this thread shows, so do a lot of people.

I make Pixel Art on occasion, and sometimes sell them as Game Assets.

I want 4D, give me holograms, waves splashing in my face, smello-vision, just something new haha...Whatever the Big N has up their sleeves!
Suped up `slightly`larger HD OLED screens + the typical next gen visual upgrade is far from exciting, it`s all about innovation at this point!

While I do agree HD is a given, I'm pretty sure 3D won't be. Oh they'll be backwards compatibility no doubt, just not in 3D. Most games aside from SM3DL didn't really use it for anything anyway.

You seem to bring up black levels every single time, you must be jealous since your Mad `n Aussie motion smeary LCD is pumping out those nifty grey levels. Just playin`dude! I for one for the most part don`t give a fraggle rock about HD, especially for movies. I`m more interested in 3D and how you play game tee hee. Hell, my 60`plasma is basically my secondary display. I use my 27`CRT tube tv a lot more, but that`s because i watch a lot of old school horror dvd`s and play retro gaming vs the new modern suckage.

Mine would be a chip that you get implanted in your brain. You just download games using WiFi and they get stored in the cloud and when you want to play just close your eyes and switch them on in your mind. It will also have a anti doom & gloom detonator so if the user goes on the internet and talks crap about it, BAM! head explodes...

You might say I just won't get it then but the problem is it's just too bloody awesome not to get the MABeyeX

I think the next handheld Nintendo system is going to look a lot like the Wii U gamepad. It would have a cheap plastic flap to cover the screen when not in use, which would fold behind the system to get out of the way. You could attach a 3D HD top screen if you want to, which would let you gain access to the DS and 3DS libraries, or hook it up to a TV which would get you access to Wii U games. Otherwise, it would be backwards compatible with everything Nintendo through virtual console. You could also hook up Wii U gamepads to it for multiplayer support on the go which doesn't require two consoles...

Do you want a slim handheld console or a fat one with a top screen that cant even close cause theres so many buttons, and will break down every day because of all that power. Pretty nice idea but that is a bit over the top.

to say the truth as long as it fits five requirements I'll be fine:
1-better graphics(only slghtly is fine it could get only 4 pixels better, what's impossible 4 pixels is too little to implement nowadays it would be easier to crank up the graphic to the max than adding only 4 pixels, and it would be fine)
2- the second circle pad(if the 3DS ahs a peripheric for it the next one will have integrated, that is if you go by logic)
3-stronger buttons
4-stronger buttons
5-stronger buttons(specially the shoulder ones I hate the fact my R button broke)

In all honesty, I've grown so accustomed to 3D on the 3DS that having it turned off is far weirder than it being on. I mean, it feels more natural because I look at depth in the real world every day.

As a dev of blargSNES, just stop with the claims that o3DS can emulate SNES games accurately @ 60fps. It cannot.
