I checked the list, all the items they gave are in order from the prior review scores they gave, with Starfox 64 3D and Mario Kart 7 coming in at 9.0, Ocarina of Time 3D and Super Mario 3D Land coming in at 9.5, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kid Icarus Uprising coming in at 8.5

Their list seems busted, Kid Icarus Uprising is too low, Starfox 64 3D as good as it is, is too high.

I love Super Mario 3D Land but its 1st place may not be justified, Dunno if Ocarina of Time 3D should get it either as it is a remake of a classic.

NSMB2 being 10th on the list is easily fair though. To me the game is more like an 8/10, maybe 7.8

Like I and others said, this all comes down to OPINION. I'm sorry if someone else's isn't yours...
Anyway, have you played both those games? Well maybe the baby one is actually good!

There are plenty of reasons to criticise IGN. Them not putting your favourite games on their lists is not one of them.
It is all subjective with such a strictly defined list, and it's impossible to appease everyone.
If IGN is so unimportant to you - then you have to ask yourself why it annoys you that your game isnt on their list.

I don't really feel that strongly about the list, I just feel the order is somewhat askew but these titles definitely deserve places in a top 10.
The list isn't necessarily about pleasing anybody, but if that WERE their goal, the order could be a bit better, no?

If I'm really critical about IGN, its for their highly suspect reviews regarding certain titles by EA, like Mass Effect 3 or Star Wars the Old Republic.
They've been accused repeatedly of being paid off by EA to give favourable reviews, whilst Mass Effect 3 flaunts its undeservingly high review score with adverts adorning every corner of the site during its launch.

Oh wow. Let's take two different sets of game scores about games that are in NO WAY SIMILAR and put them side-by-side, completely out of context (because, you know, the words in those reviews isn't important or anything), and are likely written by entirely different game critics, and pretend it's proof that IGN reviews are illegitimate.

I have some issues with IGN standards too, but this is just juvenile.

Every single person I've seen accuse IGN of being "paid off" has absolutely no proof to back up their claims.

Oh right, that's their "opinion" so it must be legitimate.

Hey, here's an idea. To you the score might be "undeserving" but perhaps, just perhaps, someone else has different taste in games to you? Pretty mind-blowing, huh?

I've heard multiple accusations that RuppeeClock has been paid off to slander IGN.

The fact that they have a scoring system causes enough trouble anyway.
Why wont review scores just die... -.-

Because, flawed or not, people like them.

and because some people actually listen to other people's opinion when buying a game. Not me though I like making my own decisions on buying games, or watching movies.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

I really don't see what's so amazing about Kid Icarus Uprising for it to be considered a clear cut #1 in the current 3DS library. It has control issues that require getting use to, and there is little change to design of what I've experienced so far in the game (around 6+ hours worth). You shoot through a flying sequence and then a land sequence all with the same weapon. I get that it brought back a series, and did so with a quality title, but I don't think that justifies Uprising being put to the top. The top spot belongs to Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land or New Super Mario Brothers 2. IGN's list got that right.

I know this is IGN's list, but it doesnt make sense: There are plenty of games out there that did (surprisingly) well. Kid Icarus: Uprising is one of them. I hear a lot that the controls are flawed, but they totally aren't: You need to get used to it, and it works. Super Mario 3D Land on the first spot just doesn't fit either. It was pretty fun, but nothing to really hold on to and it just is 'yet another Mario platformer.' I think that's that.

I pretty much agree. I played a few levels and had fun. But I wasn't tempted to buy the game or even finish it. The controls really are weird, even if people say they get used to them.

I'm sure all of these from their list would still be on my list in some order or another, even though I burned out a little on Street Fighter.
10. New Super Mario Bros. 2
8. Theatrythm: Final Fantasy
6. Street Fighter IV
5. Resident Evil: Revelations
4. Star Fox 64 3D
3. Mario Kart 7
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
1. Super Mario 3D Land

Ocarina of Time would be my top game, and I would probably add Ghost Recon and Devil Survivor. But this list is about to be blown to shreds when animal crossing, luigi's mansion, paper mario, and Professor Layton come out.

@I-U The controls may take an hour or two to get used to, but after that they're completely intuitive and work brilliantly so I wouldn't call them an issue in the slightest.
Not every single game has to use the same old control schemes just because they're familiar.
And sure, a large majority of the stages are an air section followed by a land section followed by a boss fight... but every level in 3D Land is just jumping around platforms in 3D, every NSMB2 level is just jumping around platforms in 2D and every Mario Kart course is just driving around a track.

I find that there's actually quite a lot of variety in the gameplay thanks to the different weapons being quite different to each other and the large variety of enemies that are quite different from each other and make you have to be really careful when trying to take them down on high intensities.
I've had such a blast just playing through the levels over and over, trying to beat them on higher intensities and find/create better weapons and clear treasure hunt panels.
The multiplayer is a nice diversion from the single player mode.
It's very hectic, but also awesome fun (especially locally).
The soundtrack is beautiful and the voice acting always makes me smile, even after I've already heard most of it many times.

If I'm just feeling like having an easy-going, relaxing play session I can do that by just playing on lower intensities, trying to fuse weapons or playing some multiplayer but when I want more of a challenge I can also get that by trying to beat chapters on 9.0 and clear treasure hunt panels.
Sometimes I love a good challenge and that's what really seems to lack in both 3DS Mario platformers unfortunately, but I've found plenty in Kid Icarus.

So far I'm 180 hours into it, I've been loving every second of it and there's still a ton of things for me to do.
It's one of the best value for money games that I've ever played in my opinion and I haven't had any other experiences that even come close to it yet on the 3DS.

Of course, this is just my opinion and everyone else is entitles to think differently.
I just have a problem when people complain about the controls like it's a flaw in the game rather than the player.

No Rhythm Thief, therefore this list is invalid. Plus the entire top 3 consists of remakes.

I do like how that POS Kid Icarus didn't get very high, though. Haha.

It's a flaw with the designers if they can't make controls that are easy to figure out and work sensibly. It's not my problem if I can't adapt to nonsense.

They did an amazing job with the controls.
It was always going to be really tough to come up with controls that work really well without changing the game and slowing it down a whole heap, but they managed to do so.
I really don't get it.
Even from the very start of the game, I could understand and use the controls... I just wasn't very good at it, but that's the same with a lot of games I play for the first time.
Then I kept playing and got better as I went, and now it feels just as natural as controlling Mario.

If some players aren't able to adapt to controls that are actually quite simple, then that's fine... they can play something else, but it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the game itself.
