It'll probably be left up to the COD devs to put up a semi-decent FPS on the system. It's not like the PSP where there is a great first party series already established. (SOCOM for those that don't know what a PSP is).
Still waiting for a creative dev out there to step up and use the accelerometer for aiming. It's already being done on the iPhone.
This, but I think it would use the gyroscope rather.
Slide pads moves you forward, back, strafe left and right., triggers shoot, and the face buttons switch weapons/open doors/whatever. S Gyroscope controls where you're aiming. Point the 3DS up to look up in the game. Turn the 3DS (and your body of course) to turn your aim in the game. Etc.
call of duty is gonna be on the 3ds because of all the titles on wii and ds. and to be comp for the psp ngp. the ngp will have call of duty because of online features and the dual analog sticks. soo for the 3ds when you aim down the sights, you should be able to adjust the aim with the motion controls. like aim and move the 3ds around then shoot. and conduit IS comming to the 3ds google it. but as much as i love fps, the 3ds is more suited for 3rd person cover shooters like 007 bloodstone was VERY good for a ds game. soo on the 3ds with gun shots and explosions using the 3ds effects = gold!

If the world didn't need any more FPSers, people would stop buying them and they would stop making them. It's the most popular genre out theree at the moment, and there are some games that are doing really interesting and original things still.

It's sad, but true. People need to see the greatness in games like Mario. They don't need to have blood flying everywhere in order to be great! I do enjoy some FPSers, but I would never play an FPS over a great Mario game.

It is very possible that Gameloft will release N.O.V.A (A popular FPS for Android and iOS) on the 3DS. It's very similar to Halo and they added stereoscopic 3D for phones that support it.

With the second analog stick attachment coming out sooner than later, I can see many devs making FPSs for the handheld. Red Steel, Medal of Honor Heroes 3, Conduit, GoldenEye, Call of Duty, etc.
