Topic: Final Fantasy V and VI for 3DS?

I hope they don't let Nomura anywhere near the project though. They should either straight adapt Amano's designs or get Toshiuki Itahana redesign them.

That reminds me I want an FFIX remake or a sequel!

I would prefer remakes of Final Fantasy VII - IX. The visuals of the PS1 Final Fantasy games look just ugly nowadays (especially on a modern television) and could need improvements + a higher resolution. I just don't understand why Square Enix haven't done any remakes of VII - IX yet.

But the original graphics of V and VI look still fine to me. And we have already remakes for V and VI (PS1 and GBA). The Final Fantasy IV remake on DS was nice but I prefer the PS1 remakes which use the original visual style.

If they remade VI on the 3DS I would literally kill someone for it.

As long as they stay as far away from the graphics from the 3 and 4 remakes i will be fine

I just hope they don't ramp up the difficulty like they did in the FF III and IV remakes. FF VI's difficulty is quite perfect as it is, and FF IV DS was overkilled for me solely because of its extreme difficulty.

FF4 had no difficulty. FF4 DS was actually balanced. The absolute hardest non-DS version of 4 (PS1 version) is still a walk in the park imo.

I think we're safe from that. the 3DS is capable of much more over the original DS.

If they could do a nice graphical update of either one (or both!) I would be happy.

Squeenix will no doubt repackage each of those titles 10 or 11 times in the upcoming years. Reliving past glory is easier than coming up with new ideas.

Well, have you seen their new ideas? Just look at Final Fantasy XIV.

This is a great idea actually. I'd love to walk around with FFV and VI available on my 3DS no matter what game card I'm currently playing.

That would be impossible. A 3DS card is not big enough to get a full DVD's worth of content into it, as far as I'm aware.

FFIX is 1500+ MB, for instance, and X is even bigger.

@WaltzElf They'd have to build the games from the ground up rather than doing a direct port, but FFVII-FFIX are definitely feasible. Assets can be safely shrunk due to the smaller screen size, and the hardware power can certainly handle the equivalent of a PSX game. In fact, they could probably do some great graphical upgrades to the games. (Like no more blocky characters in the FFVII overworld!)

I read that 3DS cards are 2GB in size, meaning you could fit almost three 700MB CDs worth of data in there, or less than half a DVD.
