I read that 3DS cards are 2GB in size, meaning you could fit almost three 700MB CDs worth of data in there, or less than half a DVD.
I would imagine it would be possible to remake FFVII - IX, though I don't imagine X-XII would be possible.
But I'm not sure Square Enix would even want to, aside from perhaps VII. Remaking a PlayStation game would be a monumental task - much bigger than remaking a relatively limited SNES game, and would take almost the same production resources as making an entirely new game.
Of the potential remakes, I only really see VII selling in great enough quanities to justify the investment. I just don't see Square Enix doing that.
