Topic: DS vs 3DS

In terms of games that you enjoyed the most which is your choice?

At this point (nearly 2 years) the 3DS wins.

If we do the whole lifetime of both then the DS wins by a mile, but that's really not fair.

Yep, pretty much what @rayword45 said. I can't think of much that was truly exceptional in the first 2 years of the DS. That thing hit its stride from 2007-2009.

Thirded. Considering the Phat went on sale in 2004 and Radiant Historia didn't come to the West until 2011, I'm more than willing to give the 3DS a few more years' leeway before I pass final judgment on its library.

I can already say that after like 6 years or so with DS. and only 2 with 3DS, 3DS has already provided a greater and more magical and fun experience in its games!

3DS because the DS NEVER had a MGS, MH, or KI game

DS, but I can't judge 3DS quality until I get the RE and Square games.

That being said, as soon as DS stopped sucking, it immediately started being AWESOME. Kirby Canvas Curse, Meteos, Advance Wars DS, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Phoenix Wright, Mario Kart DS, Tetris DS all 9/10 quality games at least. Seriously. Not to mention all the time I put into Metroid Prime Hunters and Animal Crossing Wild World despite any problems I had with them.

At this rate, 3DS will become my favourite handheld. Never mind the DS. It never got Smash Bros game, nor an original 3D Mario game.

In my book, that's 2 more points for DS, and 0 for the 3DS. Honestly, unless a miracle happens, like Atlus and XSEED support the hell out of it, I don't think the 3DS will do as well as the DS. Heck, I don't even think the DS did as good as the GBA, personally.

As of right now im enjoying my 3ds but they both have advantages and dis-advantages when it comes to certain games like the 3ds got good fighting games while the ds had a one that I can think of (mortal kombat) and ds had good FPS while the 3ds has only rail shooters at the moment (RE is 3rd persion) so I think they are both really good.

I think it did, if only because GBA's life was cut short by the DS.

also I think a few of the genuinely awful ports/remakes and Mario Kart Super Circuit/that one F Zero game don't help it

3DS can do everything DS can and far, far, far, far, far, far, far more.

Specific reason? The 3DS provides more of an experience with the feel of a home console with a portable feel to it. The graphics are far better, the experience is more interactive, and overall the 3DS is dominate. The 3DS is home to some of the greatest games. 3D Land, Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil Revelations, Pushmo, Star Fox 64 3D, and so much more. Plus when you include Virtual Console games, 3DS is the better system by far.

Agreed too many ports/remakes for GBA that's why it's my least favorite handheld, seriously 30 NES classic and at that Metroid was one of them AND zero mission also in Japan they sold a Mario Bros NES Classic even though the SMA series had it already as well as Superstar Saga, and they have hardly any non Nintendo ports (I mean games that wernt on a Nintendo system before, unlike 3DS which has MGS3, TotA, and DQVII already) all and all GBA had a lot of games, but they were all pretty much ports, that being said I want moreGBA on VC

To be fair
1. Zero Mission is better than the original despite being laughably easy.
2. Remakes and ports like crazy was a bit more acceptable before I could buy NES games for 5 bucks.

3DS would still win for me. I choose quality over quantity every time.

Definitely 3DS.
It's library is much smaller, but the quality of some of its games more than makes up for it.
As good as the DS was, it didn't really have too many memorable experiences for me.

The DS by a long shot. The 3DS isn't even close to the brilliance of the DS library or game support.

I'm hoping it'll get there at some point though.

That's a BS reason. If you don't like a game, you don't have to buy it. It's existence shouldn't cause you to judge a console.

If we used the shovelware to judge consoles (or in this case, games you dislike but don't qualify as shovelware), the NES, Atari 2600, PS2, THE FREAKIN WII would all be considered abysmal failures.

Way too hard to judge. The DS has more games at the moment, but the 3DS has some fantastic games already and will have probably outdone the DS's game library in a few years time.
