I just wrote up my opinion on my site(look to my sig if you want to read the detailed version):

The TL;DR version would be that I think this isn't a sign that Nintendo doesn't know what they're doing, this is a sign that Nintendo will do anything for third party support. This could go either way but the benefits of having major third party support might outweigh the downside. Nintendo can now boast about Nintendo platforms being the home to Mario, Dragon Quest, Pokémon and Monster Hunter. That's massive.

3ds lite needs two analogues. I might buy it then.

But this is not what I meant with a 3ds for me when monster hunter would be on it. I don't buy remakes - especially when there's no online component.

A proper monster hunter with lots of online, then we'll talk. Now? A half ed version of a game I played to death in a far more fun way (online) on a so-so executed product (the 3ds in its current shape) featuring a silly add-on (the analogue pad).

Hmps.

It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has bowed to Capcom's controller demands to get Monster Hunter. Don't forget why the Classic Controller Pro exists. I really hope, if it is true, that games don't start requiring it. It could make some games easier to play but kinda defeats the point of being portable IMO.

Yep, I think they have Japan just about covered right there.

Well the Classic Controller Pro is great... don't know if I can say the same thing about this though.
I don't think it's a big deal if it's primarily used for Monster Hunter, as well as possibly an optional control scheme for other games.
As long as it's not forced upon us for multiple quality games then no worries.
Eventually I expect to have a new 3DS with two circle pads on it anyway... If I can afford that ontop of a Wii U, a TV (because mine's old and s**t) and a new laptop (because mine sounds like it's about to explode or something).

Oddly it seems it might not be required for Monster Hunter. The touch screen has a d-pad on it which can't be for anything other than camera control.

That could mean that it's possibly optional.
We'll have to wait and see I guess.

If it IS optional, then it probably won't be bad for Nintendo. Still... I woudln't complain about a grip with functionarlity.

People are really going overboard with this. People did the same thing when Motion-plus was announced, thinking that it's going to be needed for all future games, when in reality, it was just an add-on, like this Attactment will be.

So calm the heck down, and let's see how this will this will be utilised before we set fire to it.

It seems Nintendo is making the same mistake Sony did with the PSP. Further proof that Nintendo rushed the 3DS to market just to gain some foothold over the competition.

Nintendo, I am disappoint.

It also seems that the new cradle/body thing adds L2 and R2 buttons.

Bascially Nintendo has made CCPro: 3DS edition.

Dear Nintendo, next time you make a handheld, make sure it has all the needed features before you launch it. None of this rushing and last-minute changes. It's getting ridiculous.

Hopefully they've learnt their lesson and they make sure the Wii U controller is just right before releasing it.

I think everyone is over reacting, think about it.
The second circle pad will probably on used for changing the camera, so you can just reach over to press the buttons like people do when reaching there thumb to press the touch screen.

The real test is reaching your thumb to press the touch screen with the attachment on.

that would be painful.
Just had a thought, you can't have a case on your 3DS if you are going to use this addon a lot...
sucks really...

Maybe my memory is cloudy but I don't remember it like that. I seem to remember think the motion-plus was the best thing since sliced bread.......... I guess everyone else was complaining that they were lied to about what the Wii could do or something.

I really don't get people sometimes.

lol, you can't even put that thing in your pocket

and god, I wish the WM+ attachment was necessary for every Wii game. No more waggling, would be amazing.

Yeah.
I'm assuming that for the most part I won't be using the add on, just from time to time for specific games so most of the time I should be fine using my case.
Not sure how well it'll fit in my pocket with the add on either so I might just end up taking the add on off and putting it back in its' case when I'm not playing while I'm out anyway... Would hate for it to get damaged or something.

Either way I will be buying this, this will probably be used as an alternative control method in Kid Icarus uprising as well.
