hideo kojima says this on the DS news page:

so in his opinion it really is close to the HD systems. the idea that those shots are not only looking worse than they can because they're not in 3D, but because the developers rushed the game, is pretty nuts, because it still looks amazing.

And the fact that these games are STILL in development pretty much declares that they will only look better by the time they release. Mario Kart Wii looks so much better now than it did back in 2007 when screens and videos were released. But I think they added small things to make it look much crisper and cleaner- since it didn't change COMPLETELY, yet it looks better now.

The one thing you must admit is that all of the 3DS comparisons are from FMV scenes. That is may not be the actual quality of the game play footage. The processor for the 3DS is supposedly confirmed as the DMP PICA200. Specs Sheet: Waring, this is a 5+ Megabyte PDF file. The way it looks, it runs on OPENGL which is very interesting. If you do not know, OPENGL is an older way to generate 3D, similar to Direct3D that the PS3, Xbox360 and PC's use. One thing to know is that OPENGL used to be able to produce a tremendous amount of quality 3D with frame rate of up to 60 FPS. This is a great boon if it is really the real deal. The specs seem pretty nice but they don't layout an actual speed. Vertex performance is 15.3 M polys per second and pixel performance is 800 M polys per second. With just that, combine it with higher res screens, yeah, it going to look amazing!

Vegeta: Just...just...transform damn you...
Bulma: We are going to have a penthouse sweet...and he'll drive a corvet...and we will make love every single...
Zarbon: (transforms)
Bulma: KILL IT WITH FIRE!

no, they're not; resident evil was confirmed to be running in real time. the metal gear clips look just like normal gameplay to me too.

Actually, they are not. The Metal Gear one is pure gameplay footage, as you cannot move the camera around a pre-rendered video. The Resident Evil one has been confirmed as real time, and I still see flaws that wouldn't be found in an FMV.

Games I'm Looking Foward To Most -

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Okamiden
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Kid Icarus Uprising
