More comparisons.Metal Gear Solid comparisonsRemember, several of the screenshots of the 3DS games have been stretched beyond the dimensions of the screens of the actual 3DS, so the pixellation that is seen in the screenshots won't be seen when playing the actual 3DS system.

That last shot looks like a fantastic Wii title, but with PS3/360 like shaders. Looks amazing for sure.And it will be even more impressive when seeing it in person because all screenshots look inferior for the most part.

You guys think the 3DS is on par with the ps3 and 360 graphically. I'm sorry guys but I am not seeing this. The comparisons don't even look on par with the wii. The 3DS looks like it doesn't have as many polygons and has a lot of jagged edges. Definitely does not look on par with the graphics of the Wii, and I highly doubt much changes with the 3D effect turned on. Still can't wait to get it and I will be more than happy with it's graphics.

You got to remember also that in screenshots, you're not getting the full detailing of the graphics. Graphics will always look worse unless they're touched up, given FSAA, AA X* etc etc.
Let's face it, if it's as powerful as the Wii or slightly more so, we'll all be happy. Considering it's capable of running an incarnation of the RE5 engine is pretty damned amazing.

Polygon power wise, of course it's not on par with the 360/PS3....Again it's the incredible shaders that has everybody fooled. Yet with RE Revelations and MGS Snake eater 3D it definitly looks on par with the Wii Polygon wise and maybe even better. Kid Icarus Uprising, Mario Kart 3D, and most of the other titles look PS2/GCN-ish with super sparky gorgeous shaders/lighting to make them appear more impressive than they actually are, it's a nice little awesome illusion NIntendo has created to make up for the lack of polygon power, yet which is also impressive for a handheld. All wrapped up on a small high res screen with 3D effects is the crazy ultra insane icing on the cake. But really, screenshots don't do the graphics justice and will always look better in person, so take that in to mind.
Yet what kind of bugs me is that apperantly you're supposed to keep the 3DS 1 foot and a half away from your face to 2 feet. Honestly, when my play my DS Lite it's less than 1 foot away from my face.lol The 3DS's 3D won't work right if it's too close to your face which kind of sucks........It seems rather finicky

Also I suppose if its pushing out 3D, its overall graphical appearence will be lower than if it's pushing out 2D. Doing the game in 2D would lessen the GPU/CPU load and therefore free-up cycles and power for mroe graphical eyecandy. So I suppose it's a case of whether developers want to jump on the 3D bandwagon or just use it in certain parts of the game, all throughout or just skip it totally.

Again like I said using those MGS shots on this page here for comparison. The 3DS is basically Wii powered, but with PS3/360 shaders and lighting tech among other little things. So expect a good pile of polygons, but a lot of eye trick candy crap thrown into the hardware to make it appear much more yummy than it really is.
Waveboy there has the right idea in post 46 there spelling out what I've been saying in a few posts already. You got a Wii powered polygon count working for you, but using PS3/360 type shaders and other junk to trick the mind into thinking you got a lot more going on there than you really do.

The Apple format itself basically due to the bloated overhead of its operating system knocks it down a bit to come in around being equal with the PSP on its better efforts. Had so much bloat me left behind though the iPad type devices would be able to make the PSP look dated.

so in his opinion it really is close to the HD systems. the idea that those shots are not only looking worse than they can because they're not in 3D, but because the developers rushed the game, is pretty nuts, because it still looks amazing.

oh my goodness. i dont understand why ppl say it dont beat the wii graphics. the wii graphics are kind of blury, and also it looks kinda..... idk..... u know what i mean. but the 3ds...... amazing! animal crossing on it is gonna be killer! oh and also i hope they make a monster hunter for this system..... all thats left to announce on the 3DS is that they are gonna finally make another luigi game. but i still wouldnt mind a luigis mansion port. Dammit i just want a luigi game! dont get me wrong i love mario games but theres like 50 games on mario and one game with luigi. and i dont just want luigi as a "playable character". i want a "luigi is the main character" game.
