My thumb keeps sliding all the time on the analog pad, mostly if pushing forwards or backwards and a bit less sideways. I guess this should be a common problem as the design of that pad offers no "grip" at all. Any tips to aleviate this effect?
I have this too, when I'm playing OoT 3d. When I have to hold forward on the circle pad the whole time, my thumb keeps sliding off slowly > I have no tips

Retro games, Modern games, all AWESOME!!!
Got and idea that works fine so far, a metal plain finger ring, diameter of a pinky. You "plug" the pad in the ring and the ring will stop your thumb to keep sliding all the time. You dont need a ring where the pad fits millimetrically, just wide enough to create a bit of "wall" effect to "grab" your thumb.
It sorts of happens to me, its also quite likely because you have to keep it in one position all the time, your thumb either gets sweaty holding on to it or gets tired.
I don't get it on RE:Mercs because I'm constantly moving my thumbs from left to right, up to down etc.
Same here. After dealing with touchscreen analog sticks, this one is no problem for control. It does get uncomfortable after awhile, though.

I may have had some trouble initially, but before long I got used to the circle pad and don't have any further issues. I don't know the magic formula, but I suspect after a bit of use you will grow accustomed to it as well and naturally compensate. Good luck

Me too! I was so pissed! My stupid little step sister found it necessary to dig her thumb nails directly into my poor circle pad while playing Pilotwings. That's now all I see when I look at my 3DS. Anyway... I don't really have the problem described by the OP. The Circle pad works like a dream for me.
Put your thumb straight in the middle of the circle pad. Then just hold slightly hard and it works great. Just don't hold too hard or you may get a cramp.
Seriously? I haven't had any problems. I've put my thumb in numerous positions, and they've all been ballin' as poo. I think you're doing it wrong. I'm in love with the nub.

I've had the same problem but to a lesser degree, but it hasn't really bothered me though. Saying that, I hope they get rid of them for the Wii U controller.
Heh, my thumb sliding off of the Circle Pad was oddly nostalgic with Ocarina of Time, as I could never get a good grip with the N64 analog stick either. My Link has a distinctive stop-and-go pattern with his running lol.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
My thumb is fine. It never slides off. I don't know what tips to give you. Maybe your thumb just gets sweaty. I love the circle pad. It feels so nice and the design actually keeps my thumb in place. Sometimes even when the system is off I move the circle pad around just to I can feel it! <3
