@jdarrell I bought my 3DS because I had such a great experience on the Wii U - bought them both in the same week. I had a blast playing NSMBU and saw that the 3DS would prolly have some good games too
One of the few intelligent pieces written about Nintendo's earnings - good job NintendoLife - wish other tech and gaming sites used their brains a bit more
Wish this was out in March - I thought it was out of stock - after all how could there not be a plain black XL? Ended up getting the red, which is pretty nice. Don't think I'll make the switch as I anticipate a SE Zelda 3DS XL coming out alongside the new game ...
I may do this, but will use the funds for VC titles and eShop only releases - for retail releases I'm physical only as I want to own every Wii U game at some point to have a complete collection.
@GamerJunkie I'm playing it for the first time and it is surprisingly amazing. I have no nostalgia for this title. But, it is a great game no matter what era of game you are talking about. It is better than games I pay $50-$60 for. From what I can tell it will be a long game too. $10 is a steal for a game that I'm enjoying this much. The original game guide is a wonderful treat as well.
Not sure why you are so against this wonderful and charming title - I'll be playing this much more than Star Wars Pinball that I also bought.
I'm wondering how you guys do a review within 12 hours of release - I think it is a 25 hour game to finish.
Do you guys have any requirements for reviews as far as completion or playtime? I love the reviews, just curious the process for getting them out there this quickly.
Wasn't excited before this article - now I am - this will be in competition with Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 for my time and attention - wish this got a July release in USA or June
Pretty neat $25 per guide - not crazy crazy up there, but that is still a lot of money in a winter full of wonderful Wii U games that will have my money's attention
Is it sad that I already have Platinum for next year?
I didn't answer many of the surveys until July hit and I stored up codes once I hit Platinum - I'd wager that if I do the same thing for next year I could have enough codes saved with this winter 2013 for Wii U.
Kinda crazy! I hit it in a few days without much effort
I went with the posters - I already have the soundtrack in my iTunes library. These posters all look solid and will look great framed. Since I have lots of empty walls in my new apartment these will do nicely.
The Luigi poster is what sold me on the posters - big fan of the year of Luigi stuff
Love the Rumble Pak - something satisfying about clicking it into place - love its use on Rogue Squadron - nothing quite like crashing in glorious death to the rumble and audio sensations.
@SanderEvers Overall they are great and love the content they put out - sometimes they over blow situations like this though - we got a nice system update that speeds up the console to where it should have launched at - instead of saying its good that we got a system update that fixes a lot that was wrong they instead say they turn it into mud ...
The latest update made my Wii U quite fast and responsive - it felt like a very nice update and have no complaints about "waiting" for another update - love how NintendoLife turns pudding into mud.
Glad to have the most recent update as the system is as I expect it to be - anything else is just gravy
@datamonkey I prefer their choice - they opted for solid state storage instead of hard drives that are less reliable.
Nintendo chose to create something less prone to failure and for that I'm glad - for those that want to buy every retail title digitally get an external hard drive. 32GB is plenty for what I'll use the internal space for.
@B3ND3R yea sadly local multiplayer is a VERY rare occurrence - I grew up in a different state and have recently relocated to New Hampshire - all of my buddies are in different states or even countries - so online is the only way I play multiplayer these days
@19Robb92 It can be a quick initial play through, but to 100 percent the game will take some time - even playing as Nabbit in single player mode. I managed to bypass entire worlds using fairly easy to discover secret exits.
I'm now going back to finish off the game and 100 percent it!
Getting the cart version probably - games like ACNL need the digital download - this one will be one I play until completion, but don't see the value of having it always on my 3DS
ACNL I'll be playing for sure. Also taking breaks playing Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D - stuck on final boss battle!
Started playing Luigi U last night and rather enjoying that. Will also pop in Injustice for Wii U and play Majora's Mask on my N64 - a little over half way through (1st play through).
@Pod Wow - so you expect an entirely new experience with 83 brand new levels to be completely free - what world do you think you are living in - $20 is a great value for basically a brand new game/experience - this is DLC done right - I could care less about buying characters and crap for $5, but a brand new experience and complete set of level designs is great.
ACNL is my first Animal Crossing. What has me hooked is that it feels like I'm retreating into a parallel universe that is nothing but delight. I retreat into this warm and bubbly world and leave the game feeling refreshed and like I just went on vacation. ACNL is my 30 minute retreat that I can take everyday.
The social aspects are rather fun and charming - seeing that train drive by gives you a hint that someone's gates are open. I've met Twitter followers that I had no idea owned 3DSs that are tweeting back at me about how much they are into ACNL. It really is a special game that I will book hundreds of hours into it by the end. I could see myself playing this until the 3DS successor comes out many years from now.
Planning on buying both the disc will only be available in 2013 - so I may buy several copies of the physical version - I'm sure they will be worth a lot in the years to come ...
@Pinkie_Pikpik I've turned around on BestBuy - I used to hate them - the big thing they've done is started price matching nearly every website out there - picked up Ocarina on 3DS for $25 at BestBuy from a crazy deal of the day site.
BestBuy has become my new way to get the best prices online or physically without having to wait for the online shipping delay.
I understand why some hate them, but they have gotten better and price matching is effortless these days. (Got Skyward Sword at BestBuy for $38!)
@InsaneZucchini Yea since I went to a store 90 minutes away they had Skyward Sword in stock which my local stores don't - picked that title up for my Wii U and am excited to play that for the first time.
@sphericalcrusher - the hats were a bit of a disappointment - not even cloth made - you can probably find a better quality one on eBay - I think it was a Club Nintendo reward awhile back
ah - yea no shirts or bags left on Saturday - pretty happy with the coin though - I got there an hour early and was demo number 2 and demo number 74 after I got on the list again.
The coins are going for quite a bit on eBay - but I really dig it and will hang onto it - will display great next to New Luigi U and the flag
@SphericalCrusher Yea I had to drive 90 minutes to get to mine - live in Manchester, NH - 3 stores in the Boston area had demo stores.
As far as prizes it was quite nice - everyone got a flag - and after playing the rep gave me a Luigi coin and hat - no competition for who gets the coins - just whoever gets to play a demo also got the coin/hat. Gave them away until they ran out - about 90 demos into it I'd have to guess.
@Shambo I think the way to do it is to have eShop demos for Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and other closer to release titles. Then have BestBuys - 300 or more next year have the more far out games - so I think eShop is great, but gathering the Nintendo community along with curious folks has great value.
Another thing - why the heck didn't Super Mario 3D World or Mario Kart 8 allow for 4 player in the demo - that would have allowed for so many more people to play the demos and play multiple demos!
My BestBuy event was fantastic - I managed to play everything except Zelda - because I could hop on as player 2 in many cases.
As mentioned in the article - that event was StreetPass heaven! I also added about 15 new 3DS FriendList friends - first time using the local friend exchange - that was awesome - already played Mario Kart 7 and ACNL with folks I met at the BestBuy.
I would love for Nintendo to host more and more of these - every three months to gather up the Nintendo community and play upcoming titles would be a big thing for raising awareness and connecting the local fanbase.
I really wish the 3DS units they had had upcoming 3DS titles - that would have been another opportunity for them to show off upcoming wares.
Oddly I heard that the store I went to had a bigger day Wednesday than Saturday - evidently the big Nintendo folks took off work to attend, versus waiting until Saturday like I did!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Financial Results Tell a Tale of Two Systems and Bold Ambition
@Sanqet Same thing is done with Apple - the idiots in the press covering both companies is staggering - very similar as far as negative sells coverage

Re: Nintendo Download: 25th July (North America)
How hard is it to release Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3? - Come on Nintendo those should be available on all of your Virtual Consoles ...
Re: Nintendo of America Offers Free Wii U eShop Credit If You Splash the Cash
I may do this, but will use the funds for VC titles and eShop only releases - for retail releases I'm physical only as I want to own every Wii U game at some point to have a complete collection.
Re: Nintendo Comments On EarthBound's Inflated Pricing
Having the game guide added has me alright with the price
Re: Review: Pikmin 3 (Wii U)
@Dazza wow - I understand colour, but instalment - wow so weird ...

"Pikmin 3 is a worthy new instalment" - spell check is your friend - otherwise great review

@tsm7 one could make a point that having the game guide included which is going for $150 on eBay would justify the extra few dollars.

@KodaSmooss the Pikmin 3 numbers is that just the weekend or the whole week?
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes Japanese Chart Debut at Number One, Boosts Wii U Hardware Sales
5 and a half million dollars isn't bad for an opening weekend in a single country ... (if my math is right)
Am I seeing that less than 400 XBoxes sold in a week - that is a difference from USA

Wow - a whole lot of nothing this week
Will pick up Mario Bros. to get those 20 extra coins - its a game I'd like to have anyways.
I sure do miss those big VC bundles - why didn't they do Mega Man 2-4 for a reduced price I would have paid $10 for those 3 titles

Re: Pikmin 3 Will Need to Gather 3950MB to Download onto Your Wii U
Going with the disc version - for me I like collecting for the TV consoles - handhelds I'm more good with digital.
For Wii U - I'll be loading the internals up with VC titles and eShop only releases.

Re: Review: New Super Luigi U (Wii U)
@Dogpigfish why not show them the Nabbit tip of ZL to play as Nabbit in single player mode - that would be more kid friendly ...
Re: Review: New Super Luigi U (Wii U)

Re: Talking Point: New Super Luigi U Opens The Door For Quick Expansions in Other Franchises
@gohanrage I'm sure they use bubbles for more air just like in Mario Galaxy
Re: Talking Point: New Super Luigi U Opens The Door For Quick Expansions in Other Franchises
@WesGrogan I'd wager that's why we see more 1 Up opportunities in Luigi U - also because they are green

ah okay - I'll be buying the Luigi disc soon enough - getting DLC version too
Re: Talking Point: New Super Luigi U Opens The Door For Quick Expansions in Other Franchises
@gaby_gabito have you tested if Luigi U works without the Mario U disc in? I know it needs it for installation, but after that does it need it?
Re: Nintendo "Would Consider" Making Free-To-Play Animal Crossing Entry
That idea scares me - you'd be turning a warm and bubbly vacation into something that ruins that experience.
I could see having the island cost money and stuff like that, but anything as an add on cost for your main town is quite scary.
